For the first time, the second novel by Alexandros Papadiamantis "Merchants of the Nations" is coming to the stage, which will premiere tomorrow at the "Antigoni Valakou" theater.

The project is uploaded due to completion 100 years since the author's death. Elsa Andrianou has done the dramaturgical editing, the direction and music are by Thodoris Ambazis and the theater group OPERA performs .

The historical canvas of the work consists of the Venetian occupation of the Aegean islands shortly before the conflict between East and West, while its main theme is love passion in its most extreme form. Central heroine Augusta who leaves her husband Ioannis Mouhra and follows the Venetian Marco Sanuto, driven by an irresistible love desire that ultimately leads to her death.

The performances will last until Sunday 18 December.

The National Book Center (THERE)/Ministry of Culture & of Tourism are organizing for the first time in Greece the Festival of Young Writers and "throwing the spotlight" on the potential of the country's young writers to present their work, to discuss current events and dialogue with the other arts; an optimistic message of confidence for the future in the difficult times the country is experiencing.

Under the motto "We have a lot to say. Let's read, to discover, let's see…» the Festival takes place on 9 and 10 December 2011, at the Michalis Kakogiannis Foundation, in collaboration with the network of three similar European festivals (Mantua, Berlin and Wales).

Prose writers and poets, aged up to 35 years (born from 1976 and so on) and with a book title or two on their resume, recommended by reputable literary journals, to take part in the Festival through a "Reading Marathon" and present their work to new generations, and not only. Three of them, who will be selected by a special jury, they will receive a six-month scholarship (financial aid) for their next creative steps.

Alongside, at the premises of the Michalis Kakogiannis Foundation, in collaboration with the Foundation and Metropolitan Histories/Metropolis a "dialogue" with other forms of art will take place: cohesive links will emerge through a series of events such as roundtable discussions, theatrically, music and dance events, screenings of short films, visual exhibitions and happenings, laboratories, contests etc.

Dance stars starring on the world's biggest stages, from the Mariinsky, the Kremlin, Covent Garden, the Paris Opera, the American Ballet Theatre, the English National Ballet, the Berlin State Ballet arrive in Athens with the aim of seducing young and old lovers of classical ballet.

Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's classic masterpiece, "Swan Lake" rises from the 16 up to 23 December and in the heart of Christmas from the 25 until 30 December, for twenty-two performances (afternoons and evenings) in the "Alexandra Trianti" hall of the Megaros Musikis.

One of the most beloved ballets in the world, "Swan Lake" choreographed by Lev Ivanov, Marius Petipa and Alexander Gorsky presented at the Megaro with choreographic interventions by Andrei Petrov, sets by Stanislav Benediktov and costumes by Olga Polyanskaya.

The protagonists are flanked by the magnificent "swans" of the Kremlin Ballet. The artistic director of the Ballet is Andrey Petrov.

The Art Theater at 70 years of operation, wanting to honor the memory of Iakovos Campanellis, -author who closely connected his creation with the specific theater- chooses to stage as the opening play of the theater season 2011-2012, the project "The road passes through", directed by Diagoras Chronopoulos.

Written it 1990, is one of the most important and mature works of the great dramatist. Through one, apparently, simple story, Campanellis artfully outlines a conflicting field of principles and values, a battle between a fragile world that leaves and another that comes ruthless, uneducated. In his characters, who are perhaps the most humane and "human" characters of modern Greek drama, they are dominated by the bearer of the old values ​​on the one hand, hooked on the past and clinging to the memories of another era, old bourgeois and on the other hand the layman, self-made New Greek, who, like a true climber, reduces everything- people and memories- in marketable items for exploitation and trivial disposal. The battle between them is inevitable but the "Road" will eventually pass through them, leveling that they themselves struggled to defend.

Contemporary work that portrays in the most theatrical way a world that grew up with the dream of the "rapture" only to end up lost, confused and "frustrated" in streets and squares.

The distribution of the work allows the coexistence of old and new actors of the Art Theater, giving the project a particularly symbolic weight while raising it to the historical Underground, in which Iakovos Kampanellis became a man and flourished, it provides a magical meeting of yesterday and today.
