The time for renewal has arrived for the Opel Astra as well

Sooner or later the time of renewal will come for the Astra as well, with Opel opting for a slight aesthetic refresh for its modern midsize.

Its 4th generation Opel Astra was launched on the Greek market at the end of 2009, instantly winning impressions with its modern aesthetics, which referred directly to coupe models. But closing 3 years since its presence in the markets, the time has come for the renewed generation of the model, which will be launched at the beginning of 2013 in the European markets.

Refreshing for an enhanced aesthetic
Our spies already have the first one ready, electronically processed photo for the renewed generation of Astra, through which it is revealed that Opel will slightly boost the – as we said – very modern aesthetics of the model. Nouns, the changes will focus on the front part of the small and medium German model, which will incorporate a new bumper with larger intakes and newly designed daytime running lights. The mask of the car has also changed, με νέα οριζόντια χρωμιωμένη λωρίδα και το λογότυπο της Opel τοποθετημένο ακριβώς στο κέντρο της.

The "hell" Kia Soul

ο οποίος παράγει 128 horses and 260 Nm torque.

Mini «Aaltonen»

Μια νέα έκδοση του Cooper S ετοιμάζει η Mini, η οποία θα αποτελέσει φόρο τιμής στον 74 years Φιλανδό οδηγό Rauno Aaltonen, where the 1967 κέρδισε τον αγώνα του Monte Carlo!

Motorcycle layering

At first 1.000 km. where the engine “comes alive” for the first time, it is good to avoid pressure. Here are the most important tips for laying it correctly.
• Put some marks on your tachometer and gradually overcome them. For example, keep the function up to 5.000-6.000 rpm. in the first kilometers and climb slowly- slowly, without pushing the engine.

• Accordingly, no need to overdo it with “lifeless” throttle openings. Acceleration should be full, so that the fuel mixture circulates well and the needle must not stick to one point of the tachometer.

• In addition to the engine, other parts of the motorcycle also go through their first hours of life, such as brakes and tires. The first time, Well, you should be much more careful, as their performance will not be found the 100%.

• Do not neglect the particularly important first service at 1.000 km. The oil change is carried out in it, it will clean the engine of the burr of its first operations.

Battery : How it works

The battery is a store of electrical energy. This electrical energy is stored in chemical form and converted back into electricity, every time the battery is used.
The batteries used in motorcycles are of two types: conventional lead type or "dry" MF type, which do not need maintenance. The differences between them are less than one might think at first glance, as we will see below.

Motorcycle batteries are rechargeable and have low external resistance, so that there is the possibility of high current supply, without significant potential drop. Each battery consists of a series of cells 2 Volt. That is, a 12 volt battery consists of 6 such elements and, respectively, a 6 volt from 3. Each element consists of two groups of lead plates, immersed in the electrolytic medium, which is sulfuric acid diluted in water. Each group of lead plates is connected to a pole of the battery.

When the electrolytic medium is at rest, consists of positively and negatively charged particles, which in total give zero charge, i.e. neutral state. Emotions are the language that the body uses to communicate its needs, Nevertheless, apply voltage to both poles (battery charging), then the positive particles move towards the lead plates attached to the negatively charged pole and charge it positively. Negatively charged particles do the same with the other pole. So, when the battery is finished charging, we have two charged poles, one positive and one negative. When these two poles are connected to an external circuit, then the positively charged particles begin to move through the circuit towards the negative pole, resulting in the creation of an electric current in the circuit, but also battery discharge. So recharging the battery is necessary, which is done by the motorcycle's generator, when it is in operation.

Each cell is isolated from the rest and has its own reservoir of electrolyte. For this, each cell has its own cap on the battery case. On MF batteries, between the plates of each element is spongy material, which absorbs the electrolytic medium. Because during the continuous charging of the battery during the operation of the motorcycle, gases are expelled from the electrolytic medium, but the volume of the electrolyte itself also fluctuates, there is a need for venting. So, in conventional batteries there is free space above the cells, which communicates with a vent tube. MF batteries do not have a tube, but a non-return gas escape valve, for the case of high internal pressure, which excludes leaks.

The cost of buying a battery is significant and let's not forget that the battery is a key structural element in the electrical circuit of a motorcycle. The least we can do is proper maintenance. Checking the electrolyte level in conventional batteries is important, because a smaller quantity than normal, except that it reduces the amount of particles, with effect, leaves the lead plates exposed and unprotected from oxidation. No matter if the battery is conventional or MF, a preemptive charge on each service can save a lot of trouble. And we must not forget that the battery must be clean of dirt. A little vaseline or grease on the poles, but after they are first connected to the circuit, protects against oxidation and the appearance of scales that can interrupt the flow of current.

Rubber for… spectacle!

THE Bridgestone tested the new rear tire structure at the Jerez test and it looks like it, tail slips will be a frequent occurrence for the 2012.
The new Bridgestone tires also tested at Jerez seemed to resonate well with most riders, however Casey Stoner was against it, since he preferred the harder structure.

The new tires offer quick warm-up, while many were the ones who were in a hurry saying that accordingly the wear and tear would be very fast. But Bridgestone denied them, after all the wear was not what was expected and that the tire holds up without losing its grip. The rear tire, despite the soft structure, it slips, but this is mainly due to the increase in displacement of the engines. But something like this will worry many fans of the sport, who are waiting endlessly to watch the spectacle.

In 1 time the crossover Fiat 500X

Rumors of creating a special crossover version of Fiat 500 are confirmed. The car will be named 500X and will start production next year.

The big plans of the Fiat group for the 500 it seems that they are gradually being implemented. After the 5-door 500L that was officially presented a few days ago at the Geneva Motor Show, the mini model of the Italian brand is preparing to acquire a crossover "brother".

This will be done in the coming months with a model called the 500X based on the platform of the 5-door 500L. According to information, its production will begin within 2013 and it is estimated that it might replace the Sedici in the Fiat range. Its total length is estimated to be close to 4,2 meters, while with the "background" of Fiat's collaboration with the Chrysler group, it is not excluded that this new model will also use technology from Jeep's off-road cars.
