Liu Jian's short but meaningful Chinese animation, depicts a modern dystopia that could well be described in the novels of Philip Dick, but at the same time to so vividly represent today's reality.   A bag full of money sparks a series of unexpected encounters between disparate characters, in the first Chinese animation in the history of the Berlinale to take part in its International Competition section. A stereotypical gangster with his requisite taciturn executioners, a young driver who wants to satisfy his girlfriend's vain dreams, a lumpen couple dreaming of moments of socialist happiness and a middle-aged man with surreal technological gadgets, they revolve around the fantasy of an economic utopia, oxymoron enforced by the decadent capitalist symbols present in almost every scene of this brilliant little film.   Continue at source ...

Η πρώτη συνέντευξη Τύπου που παραχώρησε χθες Πέμπτη από τον Λευκό Οίκο ως νέος πρόεδρος των ΗΠΑ ο Ντόναλντ Τραμπ σημαδεύτηκε από διάφορες ανακοινώσεις αλλά κυρίως από την επίθεση που εξαπέλυσε κατά του Τύπου. Δεσμεύθηκε εξάλλου να παρουσιάσει ‘την επόμενη εβδομάδα’ ένα νέο διάταγμα για τη μετανάστευση.   Το πρώτο σοκ ήρθε μόλις τρία λεπτά μετά την έναρξη της συνέντευξης Τύπου, όταν ο Τραμπ κατηγόρησε τους δημοσιογράφους ότι αγνοούν μια δημοσκόπηση, σύμφωνα με την οποία το ποσοστό δημοφιλίας του είναι 55%, κάτι που έρχεται σε αντίθεση με τις περισσότερες δημοσκοπήσεις.   Από εκεί και πέρα η αντιπαράθεση του νέου Αμερικανού προέδρου εις βάρος του Τύπου συνεχίστηκε και αφορούσε προσωπικές επιθέσεις, αλλά και γενικότερες επικρίσεις για τον τρόπο που τα μέσα ενημέρωσης κάλυψαν τις πρώτες του εβδομάδες στη προεδρία.   Continue at source ...
