A new action by the United States against Syria will not go unanswered, Iran's Defense Minister Hossein Deghan warned today, after talking earlier, separately, with his Russian and Syrian counterparts.   Iran, a close ally of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, has strongly criticized US missile strikes against a Syrian regime airbase, last week. "The American people will have to pay a high price if they repeat their action and know that their action will not go unanswered" Degan warned in a phone call with Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.   The Iranian minister also accused the Americans of lying when they say they want to "fight terrorists".   "Instead of bombing (s.s. the terrorists), they are bombing the Syrian army and the Syrian people. The front of resistance (s.s. Iran, Syria, Hezbollah and their allies) will continue to fight resolutely against terrorists, against the will of the Americans", he added.   According to the announcement posted on the ministry's website, Degan also spoke with his Syrian counterpart, Fahd al-Freij. Both referred to "strengthening their cooperation to intensify their operations against terrorists". With the term "terrorists" Iran labels all armed groups fighting the Assad regime.   The two ministers also called for the establishment of a "truth commission" to investigate what happened and "show the truth, against the false claims of the Americans" for the chemical weapons attack on Khan Seihun.

She severely criticizes the Greek government with her extensive commentary on the course of reforms in Greece. Ο καναπές είναι ίσως το πιο… αγαπημένο έπιπλο του σπιτιού, αφού σε αυτόν αναπαυόμαστε μετά από μια κουραστική μέρα ή παίρνουμε έναν γρήγορο υπνάκο τα μεσημέρια. Οι επιστήμονες όμως έρχονται να καταστρέψουν τη σχέση λατρείας που έχουμε με τον καναπέ μας, αφού προειδοποιούν ότι το ύφασμά του μπορεί να μας εκθέτει σε καρκινογόνες ουσίες.
Σύμφωνα με νέα στοιχεία που παρουσιάστηκαν στο πλαίσιο του πρόσφατου συνεδρίου της Ενδοκρινολογικής Εταιρείας (ENDO 2017) στο Ορλάντο της Φλόριντα, φλογοεπιβραδυντικές ουσίες που χρησιμοποιούνται σε υφάσματα επίπλων φαίνεται πως συνδέονται με τη συνηθέστερη μορφή καρκίνου του θυρεοειδούς, τον θηλώδη καρκίνο του θυρεοειδούς (PTC). Αν και οι ουσίες αυτές έχουν απαγορευτεί σε μεγάλο βαθμό, χρησιμοποιούνται ακόμη στη βιομηχανία ειδών σπιτιού.
Παλαιότερες μελέτες σε πειραματόζωα έχουν υποδείξει ότι πολυάριθμες κλάσεις φλογοεπιβραδυντικών ουσιών λειτουργούν ως ενδοκρινικοί διαταράκτες που παρεμβαίνουν στη λειτουργία του θυρεοειδούς αδένα, εν μέρει επειδή η χημική τους δομή μοιάζει πολύ με αυτήν των θυρεοειδικών ορμονών, εξηγεί η επικεφαλής της ερευνητικής ομάδας, Αν Σόσα, καθηγήτρια χειρουργικής και ιατρικής στο Πανεπιστήμιο Ντιουκ της Βόρειας Καρολίνα. «Σύμφωνα με τα αποτελέσματα της έρευνάς μας, η μεγαλύτερη έκθεση σε ποικίλες φλογοεπιβραδυντικές ουσίες στο περιβάλλον του σπιτιού ενδεχομένως συσχετίζεται με τη διάγνωση αλλά και τη σοβαρότητα του θηλώδους καρκίνου».
Η Σόσα αναφέρει πως ο καρκίνος του θυρεοειδούς είναι η μορφή καρκίνου που παρουσιάζει την ταχύτερη αύξηση in the USA, με τα περισσότερα νέα περιστατικά να αφορούν τον θηλώδη καρκίνο. Βάσει μελετών που υποδεικνύουν ότι περιβαλλοντικοί παράγοντες μπορεί να εμπλέκονται στην εξέλιξη αυτή, η καθηγήτρια και οι συνεργάτες της εκτιμούν ότι οι φλογοεπιβραδυντικές ουσίες στο σπίτι μπορεί πιθανώς να εξηγήσει την παρατηρούμενη αύξηση.

Νοσήματα όπως ο διαβήτης, οι διαταραχές της λειτουργίας του θυρεοειδούς αδένα, η επιληψία κ.α πλήττουν τον άνθρωπο με αρκετά μεγάλη συχνότητα, δίνοντας κίνητρο στην επιστημονική κοινότητα να αναπτύξει ένα ευρύ πεδίο ερευνών γύρω από αυτά. However, γνωρίζατε ότι αντίστοιχα νοσήματα μπορούν να εμφανισθούν στα κατοικίδια ζώα με μικρή έως μεγάλη συχνότητα;   Ένα τρανταχτό παράδειγμα αποτελεί ο διαβήτης, νόσος που εκδηλώνεται με ολοένα και μεγαλύτερη συχνότητα ανάμεσα στις γάτες. Σύμφωνα με το Royal Veterinary College πλέον 1 at 200 γάτες πάσχει από διαβήτη ενώ 30 χρόνια πριν μόλις η 1 at 900. Πιθανή εξήγηση αποτελεί η αλλαγή στον τρόπο ζωής των γατών, οι οποίες ενώ από τη φύση τους είναι θηρευτές η ζωή τους ως κατοικίδια είχε σαν αποτέλεσμα να μειωθεί η σωματική δραστηριότητα και παράλληλα να τους παρέχεται μεγάλη ποσότητα έτοιμης τροφής καθιστώντας αναπόφευκτη την αύξηση των ποσοστών παχυσαρκίας. Βέβαια δεν μπορούμε να παραβλέψουμε το γενετικό υπόβαθρο στην εκδήλωση του διαβήτη, καθώς υπάρχουν παχύσαρκες γάτες οι οποίες δεν τον εμφανίζουν.   Αναφορικά με το σκύλο, σύμφωνα επίσης με δεδομένα του Royal Veterinary College, just 3 σε κάθε 1000 σκύλους πάσχουν από διαβήτη στο Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο. Τόσο στη γάτα όσο και στο σκύλο, ακόμη και σε κουνέλια ή αρουραίους, τα συμπτώματα που παρατηρεί ο ιδιοκτήτης είναι πολυδιψία, πολυουρία, συχνουρία και απώλεια βάρους. Μήπως σας θυμίζουν κάτι; Και στον άνθρωπο τα συμπτώματα αυτά είναι κοινά. "Burning" of witches, Finland  Children in Scandinavia are used to they beg  on the streets these days, wearing a scarf, filling their faces with smoke and carrying brooms and willow twigs. In some parts of West Finland, they light a big bonfire in the countryside on Easter Sunday, believing that it will banish the witches  , according to this Scandinavian tradition.

  Bottle, Poland  The classic boogelo that students do at the end of the year in Greece, seems to have been adopted as an Easter custom in Poland and is called Smingus-Dingus.  Specifically, on Easter Monday, the boys try to shower people with either buckets, either with a water gun, etc., while the girls who will get completely wet, tradition wants them to marry within the year.
