Connecting to the source…   With the season already underway, the 4th Posidonia Sea Tourism Forum again brings the Eastern Mediterranean to the forefront of the international cruise industry.   Given the geopolitical challenges facing the region, this year's event offers the valuable opportunity to discuss in depth current trends and developments that will decisively affect both the recovery horizon, as well as the general future of maritime tourism in the Eastern Mediterranean.   Leading global cruise industry players will meet with regional stakeholders and government officials, including the Ministers of Merchant Shipping and Tourism of Greece, in order to discuss strategies for highlighting new destinations and directions for further development.   The Forum will take place on 23 and 24 of May at the Megaro International Conference Center of Athens, on "Redefining Cruising in the Eastern Mediterranean".

The German low cost carrier Eurowings offers new connections to Greek destinations in its summer flight schedule 2017 which has been started since 26 Of March. Eurowings now connects Vienna with Mytilini, Kavala, Samos and Santorini.   The connection to Mytilini will be made once a week, while twice a week there will be a connection with Santorini and Samos and three times with Kavala.   New connections are also being offered from Vienna to Birmingham, Brindisi, Ibiza, Paphos, Lamezia Therme, Madrid, Malta, Nice, Olpmia, Porto and Zadar.   With 34 destinations overall and 203 weekly flights, the Eurowings schedule from Vienna has almost doubled since last year. Oι κρατήσεις στον μεγάλο τουριστικό οργανισμό Thomas Cook για διακοπές στην Ελλάδα είναι αυξημένες κατά 40% this year, δήλωσε ο Διευθύνων Σύμβουλός του Πέτερ Φανκχάουζερ, ενώ έκανε λόγο και για πρώτες ενδείξεις ανάκαμψης της τουριστικής κίνησης προς την Τουρκία και την Αίγυπτο. Ο ίδιος δήλωσε ότι ο Οργανισμός αύξησε τη δυναμικότητά του για την Ελλάδα στη φετινή σεζόν και ότι μικρότεροι προορισμοί, όπως η Κύπρος, η Βουλγαρία και η Κροατία, είναι επίσης δημοφιλείς.   ‘Η διάθεση των πελατών να κάνουν διακοπές στο εξωτερικό είναι καλή σε όλες τις αγορές μας’, δήλωσε ο Φανκχάουζερ, adding: ‘Έπειτα από ένα αργό ξεκίνημα της σεζόν και ένα δύσκολο 2016, βλέπουμε τις πρώτες ενδείξεις ότι οι πελάτες αρχίζουν να επιστρέφουν στην Τουρκία και την Αίγυπτο’.   Overall, οι κρατήσεις στην Thomas Cook για το καλοκαίρι είναι αυξημένες κατά 10% σε σύγκριση με την αδύναμη αντίστοιχη περυσινή περίοδο.   Continue at source ...
