Opel Adam R2: Premiere in Geneva

THE Opel has high hopes for the new Adam, not only in the field of sales but also in that of motorsport. So, after the “Adam Cup” which started in November 2012, the Germans prepare their little one to meet the FIA's R2 standards, for participation in any national championship in Europe or in international rally competitions. The completion of Adam R2, as well as type approval, are calculated within the 2013.
The Adam R2 uses the 16 valve 1.6 ECOTEC with variable cam timing that, in its racing version, it pays off 185 horsepower and maximum torque approx 190 Nm. Power is sent to the front wheels via a Sadev five-speed sequential gearbox and a limited-slip differential with a multi-plate clutch. The frame accepts settings for racing on both asphalt and dirt, while the braking system with hydraulic handbrake 'fly-off' takes care of the deceleration, 4-pistons, Brembo front calipers and brake pressure adjustment for the rear axle.
The cabin of the Adam R2 has all the features of a racing car, such as: built-in safety structure (roll bar), SPARCO Competition racing seats compatible with the HANS driver safety system, cockpit with LCD gear ratio display, control lamp and MONIT trip computer, central control panel, reading spot and electric fire extinguisher.
The R2 is based on the Adam Cup. From his season 2013, about 40 Adam Cup will run in single races in Germany and France.
