A Smart for the Dakar Rally is not the best idea. But the small city car can, in the hands of the right people, acquire the ability to move with dignity in the difficult dirt terrain. The creator of the idea you see, named Jose Luis Alvarez, created a vehicle that resembles the Smart image only on the outer shell as well as under the outer panels, we are talking about a purebred off-road car.
Suspensions and all mechanical parts are specially made for high durability, but also performance on difficult road terrain, while the low weight of 750 kg is a big advantage especially when driving on sandy ground. The Argentine wants to run the Dakar Rally with a team of two Smarts and a CRF-450 motorcycle, however, the financier has not yet been found to cover the huge costs of the participation. So Alvarez waits until the right conditions are found.
