Greek bankers were extremely wary of the possibility of a complete lifting of capital controls, preferring to be kept as they are for the time being. This opinion was expressed by the heads of the Greek banks during the meeting they had with the Governor of the Bank of Greece Giannis Stournaras, in which the roadmap for the removal of restrictions on the movement of capital was discussed.
The CEOs of Greek banks agreed that the gradual lifting of restrictions should continue, but they expressed their concern at the prospect of an immediate complete withdrawal of the measures, especially of the third pillar, which has to do with the transfer of funds from Greece to abroad.
