Saint Conon was born around the end of the 1st century AD. in Vadini, village of Isauria in Asia Minor and lived in the Apostolic times. His parents, Nestor and Nada were originally pagans. The Holy Martyr Conon came from Nazareth of Galilee and lived during the reign of Decius (249 – 251 A.D.). After he came to the country of Pamphylia and chose a small place, he converted it into a garden by planting cabbages, from which he supplied himself and the poor foreigners with food. He was simple in character, so that even those who were going to arrest him and lead him to the lord, to be punished because he was a Christian, when they grabbed him in a playful way, and he gave them back the aspasmos. Saint Conon lived around the 4th century AD. He was born in the Akama region of Cyprus, a few years after the death of Saint Hilarion the Great († 21 of October), from pious and God-loving parents. From childhood he loved temperance, τὴν ἄσκηση καὶ τὴν ἀρετή. Ἔτσι ἀποφάσισε νὰ ἐγκαταλείψει τὸν κόσμο καὶ νὰ ἐγκατασταθεῖ σὲ ἕνα σπήλαιο μακριὰ ἀπὸ τὸ χωριό του. Read more "
