April is the fourth month in the Julian and Gregorian calendars. According to the Romans it was the second month of the year. It was named after the Latin verb aperio, which means to open, because everything opens this month: the trees, the flowers, the weather. It is the quintessential spring month, that is why in ancient Rome it was dedicated to the goddess Aphrodite.
Our people called April Anthominas, because it brings many flowers, Xerokofinas and Tinachtokofinides because then the poor harvests of the farmer are exhausted, Agiorgitis from the commemoration of the memory of Ag.
