Dance me to the end of Greece 1... Foreign Tourists in Greece: Performance at the Benaki Museum

The Benaki Museum presents the show in the Piraeus Street building “Dance me to the end of Greece 1…Foreign Tourists in Greece” which will last from 17/02/2012 until 18/02/2012.

This is the first stage presentation of travel texts signed by famous travelers of the 19th and 20th centuries.

The actors of the show participate in a storytelling forum, representation and song through poems by Byron and Satovriandos set to music, while they animate the testimonies of famous travelers such as Hans Christian Andersen, Gustave Flaubert, but also the younger Jacques Lacarriere and Henry Miller.

As part of the performance, the audience will have the opportunity to navigate the original multimedia application entitled ¨Athens through the eyes of the Tourists: 1719th century”, production of the Benaki Museum, which attempts to reconstruct the portrait of the city in that period, through from 500 works of the Collection of Paintings, Engravings and Drawings, several illustrated editions of the Museum Library, as well as selected texts of various travelers who visited it.

There will be two shows specifically for schools (large Primary classes, Middle School and High School):

Adel: The winner of this year's Grammys

Won the award for song of the year with 'Rolling in the Deep'


British soul singer Adele won the Grammy Award for song of the year, with "Rolling in the Deep", for Best Pop Solo Performance, with "Someone Like You" and two other awards at the ceremony held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

The ceremony began with emcee El El Cool J offering his condolences to Whitney Houston's family and praying on stage for’ her. Houston's death almost monopolized the talk before the event while it was constantly referenced during it.

Adele receiving the first awards thanked the surgeons who removed a polyp from her vocal cords.

Rock band Foo Fighters were also among the big winners, winning four awards, among them this one for Best Rock Performance with 'Walk'. The leader of the Foo Fighters, ο Ντέιβ Γκρολ, επισήμανε ότι ο τελευταίος τους δίσκος ηχογραφήθηκε όχι σε στούντιο, «αλλά στο γκαράζ μου, με μερικά μικρόφωνα κι ένα κασετόφωνο. ..»

Αυτό «δείχνει ότι το ανθρώπινο στοιχείο είναι το σημαντικό» στη μουσική, he added.

Οι αναφορές στην Χιούστον, η οποία βρέθηκε νεκρή χθες σε ξενοδοχείο στο Λος Άντζελες σε ηλικία 48 years, ήταν συνεχείς. Η Μέλανι Φιόνα, που κέρδισε το βραβείο στην κατηγορία της ερμηνείας R&B με το τραγούδι «Fool For You» είπε ότι η εκλιπούσα ήταν η πηγή της έμπνευσής της. «Δε θα στεκόμουν εδώ αν δεν ήσουν εσύ», he said.

Ανάμεσα στους υπόλοιπους νικητές -στις συνολικά 75 κατηγορίες- ήταν και οι Τζέι Ζι και Κάνιε Γουέστ για το ραπ τραγούδι «Otis», οι οποίοι πάντως δεν εμφανίστηκαν για να παραλάβουν το βραβείο τους.

Ο Mark Lanegan επιστρέφει στην Ελλάδα

Σε Αθήνα και Θεσσαλονίκη τον Απρίλιο

Ο κορυφαίος τραγουδιστής του σύγχρονου Rock’n’Roll, Μark Lanegan, θα βρίσκεται στην Αθήνα, μαζί με τη μπάντα του, on Thursday 5 April (Fuzz Live Music Club) για μία μοναδική βραδιά γεμάτη από τη μαγεία της σπάνιας φωνής και της υπέροχης, μελαγχολικής και ενίοτε σκοτεινής, μουσικής του. Μία ημέρα νωρίτερα, on Wednesday 4 April, θα εμφανιστεί στο Principal Club Theater, in Thessaloniki.

Φωνή των θρυλικών Screaming Trees – ίσως της κορυφαίας και, with no doubt, πλέον παραγνωρισμένης μπάντας που ξεπήδησε από ολόκληρο το ρεύμα του grunge – ο Mark Lanegan αποτελεί, εδώ και 25 (και βάλε) years, μία από τις πιο εμβληματικές και γοητευτικές φιγούρες της underground σκηνής.

Προικισμένος με μια μοναδική φωνή – βαρειά, επιβλητική και, at the same time, αισθαντική και μελαγχολική – έχει κυκλοφορήσει μερικά συγκλονιστικά albums κατά τη διάρκεια της προσωπικής του καριέρας («The Winding Sheet»/ 1990, «Whiskey For The Holy Ghost» / 1994, «Scraps At Midnight» / 1998, «I’ll Take Care Of You» / 1999, «Field Songs» / 2001, «Bubblegum» / 2004) και έχει συνεργαστεί με ορισμένα από τα σπουδαιότερα ονόματα της σύγχρονης Rock σκηνής, όπως οι Queens Of The Stone Age, o Greg Dulli, η PJ Harvey, οι Masters Of Reality, καθώς και με τους Unkle, τους Soulsavers και την Isobel Campbell.

Πριν από λίγες ημέρες, at 6 February, κυκλοφόρησε το πρώτο προσωπικό του album εδώ και 8 years! Το «Blues Funeral» ηχογραφήθηκε για λογαριασμό της 4AD και ήδη γίνεται δεκτό με διθυραμβικές κριτικές από το σύνολο του μουσικού Τύπου σε ολόκληρο τον κόσμο. Ο ίδιος ο Lanegan δήλωσε πως οι βασικές επιρροές του όταν το έγραφε προήλθαν από αγαπημένα του albums, όπως το «Miami» των Gun Club και το «Closer» των Joy Division, including.
