What is Fasting?;

Orthodox Christian fasting is defined as periodic vegetarianism, at various times throughout the year. Great Lent lasts 48 days and begins on Clean Monday and ends on M. Saturday. During the Easter fasting period, no meat is consumed, dairy products and eggs. Some days are an exception of course, such as the day of the Annunciation and Palm Sunday, which is allowed to eat fish.
