I apologise- Giannis Miliokas

them 56 gr
The most special song of Yiannis Miliokas… And personally for me, the best and most touching. I cry every time I hear it and think of my grandfather.. Thank you, John.
Lyrics:
I will sing you a song like water
for those who fought and are still enduring
I should have written this a long time ago
for this I humbly apologize first
In a small neighborhood clinic
I went to get some x-rays
and I saw people of an older generation
who were waiting for the doctor's instructions
It was quiet as if I had entered a sanctuary
and they were all my father's age
my old man is long dead now
but he had managed to enjoy three grandchildren
I kind of took a quick look
I've never seen such a mess
and all this forgotten old age
they will be war cripples I thought
One was missing a leg
another had his hand tied and was in pain
the third wore a collar around his neck
and another was carrying his lady
My mind went to my father again
when he told me stories at night
as if now I remember him in pain
and to speak of the dead and wounded
And all of them for my own freedom
they lived years of occupation and tyranny
they were girls and boys
and they were fighting in the mountains of Albania
I had been given a free life
and whatever I was I owed to them
and they were so simple in their old age
they didn't wear any decorations or louse
Honest persons without ego
even if they had lost everything during the war
with a smile and some respect
everything they drew would have been forgotten
I suddenly felt a huge shame
I bent down and was speechless
tears came to my eyes and I held back a lot
and luckily I had my glasses with me
I will sing you a song like water
for those who fought and are still fighting
I should have written this a long time ago
for this again I humbly apologize.
