The successful show directed by Giorgos Oikonomou with Aris Servetalis and presented until January 1st in Athens, also goes up in Thessaloniki and brings to life the true story of little Ivan from 5 until 15 January 2012.
The performance inaugurates the reopening of the AVLAIA theater.

How does one survive in the violent and inhospitable landscape of a city that has been fatally affected by the recession; "Ivan and the Dogs" is a gripping story of survival that brings to life the grim streets of 19th-century Moscow 1990 through the eyes of a child.

True story: Moscow, winter of 1996. Terrified and abused by his brutal stepfather, a four-year-old boy runs away from home and miraculously survives by joining a pack of dogs. After three unsuccessful attempts by the police, he is finally 'arrested' 1998 and is locked up in an asylum. Then it is adopted. In his dreams Ivan Mishukov is still running on the edge of town with his dogs.
In the performance directed by Giorgos Oikonomou, Aris Servetalis narrates and experiences in the first person and in the first person the story of Ivan's childhood. Είναι ο πρωταγωνιστής μιας ιστορίας που, αν και απόλυτα αληθινή, γράφτηκε με τα υλικά του πιο ακραίου παραμυθιού: τον κίνδυνο, το θάρρος, τη βία, την απελπισία, την ανατροπή, τον πανικό, την ελπίδα, την καταδίωξη, τη φιλία, την ενηλικίωση, την αγάπη και την γαλήνη. Είναι ένας σύγχρονος Μόγλης, ένα τετράχρονο παιδάκι στην ζούγκλα της Μόσχας της δεκαετίας του 90 όπου η αγωνία για επιβίωση είναι τεράστια κι η ελπίδα είναι μηδενική. Ο μικρός Ιβάν κινείται σ ένα τοπίο όπου πρωταγωνιστούν οι άστεγοι αλκοολικοί, οι νεόπλουτοι γκάγκστερ, τα ανήλικα πρεζόνια, ο φόβος, το ψύχος και η πείνα. Φεύγει μια νύχτα μόνος απ τον εφιάλτη του σπιτιού του για να χωθεί σ’ αυτό το τοπίο της πλήρους εξαθλίωσης. Φεύγει για να γλυτώσει. Και εκεί δίπλα σε μια αγέλη από σκυλιά θα βρει τελικά την αρμονία.
Η συγγραφέας Χάτι Νέιλορ γεννήθηκε στο Λονδίνο και σπούδαζε ζωγραφική όταν το BBC αποδέχτηκε τη συμμετοχή της για το Φεστιβάλ Νέων Θεατρικών Συγγραφέων με το έργο «Το Κουτί». Από τότε έχει κερδίσει πολλά εθνικά και διεθνή βραβεία για τα ραδιοφωνικά θεατρικά της. Ζει στο Μπρίστολ και έχει γράψει για το θέατρο, την όπερα και τον κινηματογράφο.
«Ο Ιβάν και τα Σκυλιά» πρωτοανέβηκε στο Drum Theatre, στο Πλύμουθ, τον Σεπτέμβριο του 2010 και έχει παιχτεί με μεγάλη επιτυχία στο Λονδίνο και την Νέα Υόρκη. The 2011 είναι υποψήφιο για το Olivier Award.
Τη μετάφραση του έργου υπογράφει ο Γιώργος Καλαμαντής, τη σκηνοθεσία ο Γιώργος Οικονόμου, το σκηνικό και τα κοστούμια ο Κώστας Βελινόπουλος, τη μουσική ο Νίκος Πορτοκάλογλου, τους φωτισμούς ο Γιάννης Δρακουλαράκος.
