The answer given by the former prime minister is harsh, with a statement issued by his office, to the newspaper “Democracy” categorically denying the publication which spoke of a luxurious vacation of him and his wife in a luxury hotel in Crete, in fact according to which, George Papandreou was paying 1.020 euros per night.

According to the announcement, the Papandreou couple is indeed staying in a hotel in Chania “but the price they pay is infinitely less than that reported in the publications”.

In fact, as stated in the announcement, the former prime minister, “he asked to pay the relevant price despite the initial proposal from the hotel management to accommodate him”.

Subsequently, the office of the former prime minister directly attacks the Dimokratia newspaper saying that they had no intention of dealing with publications of the newspaper in question again as they had done with the “downcast” as the publication of August 5 characterizes it but “this time though, the playback line of the alleged news item matters, without crossing, without even seeking to know the truth, which clearly testifies to those willing to contribute for their own known reasons to the mud against George Papandreou”.

In the framework of the answer, the officials of the office take the opportunity to refer to the overall work of the former Prime Minister from their own point of view.
