Makis Tselios : His unknown past

Back in the 70s, fashion gets mixed up with music, youth movements, the flower power, the punk, kitsch. The Studio opens in New York 54, people discover disco, the lycra, the stretch, the vinyl. And in Greece, Makis Tselios and Vassilis Kourkoumeli create the Billy Bo house and start a fashion revolution. Almost four decades later, Makis has not stopped counting. "You really want to know; I have done a hundred and twenty demonstrations in my life…».
He was born in Ithaca, grew up in Athens and declares "Myconian by transfer". It suits him. Like the air of the island that "adopted" him, is constantly moving. He speaks, he laughs, he serves me coffee, answers phones, gives instructions to associates, he poses – almost – professionally in his office and studio, a place of high aesthetics, with "hard" black and red decoration. Everything around him "screams" beauty - to the last detail. And yet, he didn't always want to be a designer. He earned his first salary at Mercedes! "I started as an usher at 16 and at the same time I also went to night school. They were difficult years and I had to work". He went on to become a successful salesman, with prizes and bonuses. After, says, this cycle also closed and another one opened. Catalyst, a "fateful" meeting: "We met by chance on the street with Vassilis (s.s. Kurkoumeli). We've known each other for a long time, we were neighbors in Piraeus - of course he was younger. Basil had plans, concerns, I wanted to make a new beginning. We worked together".
