The new Renault Alpine in Paris!

In Paris, Renault will present a concept version of the new Alpine, here the historical version A110.
To celebrate the 50 years since the presentation of the Renault Alpine A110, the French brand is preparing and will present us with a surprise at the Paris exhibition.
Of course the information is very limited, but the designer of the brand, Laurens van den Acker said in his statements to the British special press that "it would be remiss of us not to do something to celebrate the anniversary of the model".
At least in the first phase, it will be a concept model, but the rumors about Alpine's return to the market, they are crying. In fact, there are not a few who have serious visions if the relevant project comes to fruition, especially after the proud statements of the brand's marketing manager in Great Britain, Steve Norman, who mentioned that: “We have to ask ourselves if there is room in the market, to create a rival to Porsche"!

The new Land Rover Defender will be manufactured in India

Land Rover's Defender may be one of the most recognizable British products in the world, but the new generation can change… construction continent!
The impressive prototype presented at the Frankfurt show 2011 with the DC100 code it literally stole the show as the British brand doesn't do that very often. What is not certain though, is that no matter how much we were impressed by the DC100 or otherwise the model that will form the basis of development for the new Defender, it is not certain whether it will continue to be manufactured in the country that gave birth to it about half a century ago.
The news comes from Great Britain, and wants the new four-wheel drive model to be built in Pune, India, of course to reduce costs. There is the possibility, the final assembly of models to be imported into Europe to be done in Great Britain, but nothing is certain yet. End, the production version of the model, it will use a heavily modified version of the LR4 body (Discovery), and Range Rover Sport, while of course the appearance will be inspired by the DC100.

It's called Hiriko EV and it was presented in Brussels. It is a purely electric vehicle, but it has a peculiarity in its body, since this folds in the parking lot!
Surely the news of yet another electric vehicle no longer excites us, since they are increasing at a rapid rate. But when it comes to a build like the Hiriko EV things are somewhat different. Why; Simply because its designers have evolved it so that it "pulls itself together" when its driver wants to park it, as a result, it takes up significantly less space, from its already small size. In fact, its manufacturer states that when it is folded, the space it needs to park, are the 2/3 from its smart counterpart! Only two passengers have access to the vehicle through the single front-mounted door, while inside Hiriko there is not the classic steering wheel we know but a joystick.

Many details have not been announced, but however unreal it may seem, its production will begin within it 2013 in Spain, with 20 test copies have already been made. The initial construction cost of each is the 16.253 dollars, however, this is not an indicative purchase price of the production model.

New rich Inspire version for Mitsubishi Colt

A very interesting version called the Inspire has been added to the Colt range. The small Mitsubishi in this version with rich equipment and engine 1,3 liters – 95 horsepower can be obtained with 11.790 euro.

The range of available versions of Colt is further enriched. The little Mitsubishi can now be had in the rich engine Inspire version 1,3 liter 95 horsepower and at a very competitive price. Among the strong "points" of the version is the Automatic Stop system & Go (AS&G) of the engine for optimal fuel economy and reduced CO2 (119 g/km).

The 5-door Colt Inspire features, relative to the base version of Inform, additional rain-light and distance sensors, cruise control, foglights, chrome grille, aluminum rims 15 inches, dark rear windows, leather steering wheel with audio controls, factory CD radio with MP3 and AS technology&G.

BMW invests in touch materials for function control

With the Vision ConnectedDrive prototype, BMW has shown its intentions to invest in materials and surfaces that will allow the driver to operate various functions simply by touch.

Some years from now our cars will not have buttons and switches, since instead the driver will simply touch specific points and fabrics on the dashboard in order to operate the different functions and systems of the car (B.C. air conditioning, sound system etc.). BMW showed us its intentions to invest in such technology some time ago by presenting the Vision ConnectedDrive prototype which incorporates materials and fabrics that perform various functions by touch alone. In fact, representatives of BMW confirmed the fact that the Bavarian brand is moving in this direction. Now, an article in the authoritative scientific journal New Scientist brings the issue back to the fore, presenting the progress made in this technology by researchers at the Polytechnic School of Montreal in Canada. The head of the investigation, Maksim Skorobogatiy said about it “We are trying to reproduce the experience of smartphones in the form of fabric. We are looking for applications that can be implemented on thin durable surfaces without requiring the use of buttons”.

Auctions abroad often present surprises. This time our interest is located in a Mercedes SL 1955 which was sold at auction for the legendary sum of 4,62 million dollars.
The Gooding Auction Company & Company's Scottsdale in Arizona, USA often has special and very expensive models on the market. But this time it seems that he surpassed all previous ones, after "finding" a buyer for a historic Mercedes last weekend 300 SL Alloy Gullwing. The "customer" who acquired it, apparently this is a maniacal collector, spent the fabulous amount of 4,62 million dollars to make her his. The truth is that this particular model is highly collectible. Mercedes only built it in 29 units and the manufacturing cost was initially very high since the car body is made entirely of aluminum, material expensive to car manufacturers even today.
In this particular auction, a Ferrari also attracted intense interest 250 His GT LWB California Spider 1959 which was priced and sold at approx 4 million dollars.

Nevertheless, from 2014 and the 8th consecutive new generation of the Passat, this will change. So the new German medium, as you can also see in our exclusive spy digitally edited photos, it will bring a sharper and more dynamic design than the current Passat. We highlight the news in the front section, long narrow lights and the raised hood with the strong ribs, but also the new horizontal shoulder that runs from end to end of the body. In the back section, this shoulder abuts on sharper and smaller sized fixtures, which also contribute to the general modernization of the car.

But apart from the design, many and perhaps more important news comes under the body of the new Passat. The big star here is the VW Group's new MQB platform, which as we have said before, will be the main protagonist of all the companies of the group for the next few years. So this passe-partout floor, which we will know this year through the new generations of VW Golf-Audi A3-SEAT Leon, it will form the basis on which the next Passat will be built. A big advantage of this platform is its adaptability to a range of models of different dimensions, with the Passat being the largest of those to receive it, thus maintaining similar dimensions to the current model (B.C. length close to 4,8 m.). Nevertheless, despite this fact, this new platform will reward the car with a lower weight (about -50 with 75 kg only from the floor), with immediate benefits in consumption, performance etc.
What about the engines?;

There is quite a bit of movement in the engine sector, since an upgraded range of TSI and TDI engines is being prepared by VW. To the first ones, the new versions will now have a standard start/stop system and the selections will start again from 1,4 l, but with upgraded power (130 and 150 PS). For the TDIs, in view of the new Euro6 standard for their emissions, we expect even more ecological motor options 1,6 and 2,0 liter. Anyway, especially in the ecological part, the new Passat, for the first time in history, it will get a hybrid version with the possibility of charging from an outlet (plug-in), with performance close to 170 horsepower and exclusively electric drive for distances up to 50 km.
