BMW M4 CS: Good news...

BMW's M4, soon acquires a stronger version with the two capital Latin CSs, which takes place below the GTS. This is the most powerful M4 in production, especially now that the GTS doesn't even exist for a sample. Deep bow to the blue and white propeller…
His GIANNI Tsirogiannis (gt@newsauto.gr)
The heart of the new CS is the 3-liter six-cylinder in-line twin-turbo gasoline engine that produces 460 horsepower and almost 61,0 kgm of torque to the rear wheels. Externally, you will distinguish the mighty CS, from the carbon hood, the iconic spoiler, the impressive rear diffuser, but also the enormous wheels (19 inches forward, 20 back).
The German brand talks about weight savings 32 kg compared to the M4, this was also helped by the interior with lighter seats and upholstery. On to the performance now, the 100 km/h from stop come to 3,9 sec, with the help of a seven-speed dual-clutch semi-automatic transmission. The top speed reaches the 280 km/h.
More in the coming year, when we will see her rolling her beastly wheels on the European roads or better on the tracks, where he breathes better and feels like a fish in his own water.

BMW: 20 new models with front-wheel drive

Turning to forward motion seems to be what BMW is doing. Right now, the Bavarian brand's range consists of rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive models, and only the Mini subsidiary follows the front-wheel drive layout. However, this is set to change in the coming years, since as stated by Ian Robertson in Auto Express, the BMW Group is about to evolve 20 new models with forward motion. Naturally, the ones we'll see first are the new Mini and the production version of the Concept Active Tourer (photo), while the Mini 5-door will follow on the same platform, Clubman, Coupe, Cabrio, but also the next BMW Series 1 which will be launched about 2017. BMW is even studying the possibility of the 2nd generation X1 being based on the same platform, while the development of a small sports cabrio model called Z2 is also possible. After all, the base is ready: the Mini Roadster.

New BMW engines 1,5, valid until 224 horsepower!

A new one, promising generation of three-cylinder engines has been announced by BMW which is expected to turn things upside down, from a mechanical point of view, with the philosophy and technologies they incorporate.

With the aim of putting it into production 2013, in models that he has not clarified yet, BMW presented a new, very promising, generation of low displacement engines, petrol and diesel. Their base concerns one 1,5 TwinPower turbo with variable load control, direct injection and Valvetronic (in the gasoline versions). The share of mechanical parts in percentage 60% between petrol and diesel engines, ensures significant savings, in development and production levels, according to BMW.

Each cylinder has a capacity of approx 500 κ.εκ. designed to ensure high thermodynamic performance and quietness, smooth operation. With the aim of minimizing vibrations, a special arrangement is used, which offers, according to the company's engineers, extremely layered mode.

Specific information has not yet been released, but we do know that the petrol engine versions will yield from 121 to 224 horsepower, with 180-240 Nm of torque. The diesels, on the other side, they will provide power 82-184 horsepower and torque 225-330 Nm.

7-fast manual transmission from BMW

The German automaker may not officially announce it, but rumors and spy photos want it to develop a manual transmission 7 relations.

After the last generation of Porsche 911 which is also the first car in the world with a manual transmission 7 relations, BMW is next. The company may not announce it officially, however, photos have been leaked online that want her to develop said technology. It is still unknown in which models we will see the box in question, and when, but sources say that BMW is looking very closely at the case of incorrect gear changes, which can prove disastrous.

For this reason, and because when you have to manage many relationships in fast driving the mistake is not long in coming, the company is developing a system that will use a special type of fluid, which will harden or soften, allowing the driver specific changes and avoiding the error! This technology will even be able to be used in a manual transmission up to 8 relations

BMW invests in touch materials for function control

With the Vision ConnectedDrive prototype, BMW has shown its intentions to invest in materials and surfaces that will allow the driver to operate various functions simply by touch.

Image from the future or science fiction scenario; Probably the first. Some years from now our cars will not have buttons and switches, since instead the driver will simply touch specific points and fabrics on the dashboard in order to operate the different functions and systems of the car (B.C. air conditioning, sound system etc.). BMW showed us its intentions to invest in such technology some time ago by presenting the Vision ConnectedDrive prototype which incorporates materials and fabrics that perform various functions by touch alone. In fact, representatives of BMW confirmed the fact that the Bavarian brand is moving in this direction. Now, an article in the authoritative scientific journal New Scientist brings the issue back to the fore, presenting the progress made in this technology by researchers at the Polytechnic School of Montreal in Canada. The head of the investigation, Maksim Skorobogatiy said about it “We are trying to reproduce the experience of smartphones in the form of fabric. We are looking for applications that can be implemented on thin durable surfaces without requiring the use of buttons”.
