Fiat returns after 7 about years exclusively under the name "Punto" and now, along with its addition 0,9 TwinAir engine in the range of its small model.
info: The new Fiat Punto 2012 is already available in Greece with prices from 11.500 euro (1,2 8V 69 PS 3 door).
The Punto is one of the best-selling models in Fiat's modern history, which from the 1993 until today, has scored over 8,5 million sales. In the history of the model, Fiat's decision stands out 2005 to launch its small model for the first time under a new name that no longer contained only the word 'Punto' (see. Big Point). The first major renewal of the car 2009, followed this new naming practice, although he changed her again (Evo point). And now today, Fiat decides to restore the name of its popular model – as historical as it is evolving, launching the new Punto 2012.
And with aesthetic refreshment
But apart from the name change, the new Fiat Punto 2012 it also incorporates an aesthetic renewal, which gives it a slightly more modern presence compared to the Punto Evo. The differences are therefore found in the bumpers which are now entirely painted in the color of the body, except for the front which of course has fewer black grills. The car's aluminum wheels are also of a new design, while 3 new metallic colors (Gray, red, turquoise) as well as 1 special green exclusively for TwinAir, are now added to the range.
In the foreground is the new TwinAir engine
After the 500 and Panda, the Punto 2012 will be the third Fiat model to receive their all-new twin-cylinder TwinAir engine 0,9 liter. With the help of the turbo, their motor 875 κ.εκ. will offer 85 horsepower and 145 Nm of torque, to combine good performance with low consumption and CO2 emissions. Characteristic here is that the average consumption announced by Fiat amounts to 4,2 l. of gasoline per 100 km. and CO2 emissions only reach the 98 g/km, thus exempting the car from road tax. The range of engines will be completed by gasoline engines 1,2 and 1,4 l. (8V) with 69 and 77 PS, but also with them 1,4 MultiAir of 105 and 135 horses. To the diesels, the 1,300 MultiJet II will come with 75, 85 and 95 horsepower. End, there will also be LPG and natural gas versions.
Interventions on the points for the modern interior
The interior of the Fiat Punto 2012 ακολουθεί τις ίδιες κύριες γραμμές με αυτό του Punto Evo, παραμένοντας έτσι αρκετά μοντέρνο σχεδιαστικά. Then, of better texture are some plastic parts of the interior, which raise the car's already good quality standards. The equipment, on the other hand, remains at very good levels, having in its options, among other things, a fairly sharp TomTom navigation system and the brand's panoramic sunroof.
Pleasant on the road and in good comfort
The road behavior of the new Fiat Punto 2012 it has not been differentiated in relation to that of the Punto Evo. So, the Italian model remains pleasant on the road and coupled with its relatively firm suspension setup, ensures neutrality and progressive reactions at the limit. The steering wheel, on the other hand, is light and contributes to maneuverability in the city, while the comfort from the suspension is at good levels for the category. The brakes end the car in our first driving contact abroad, they proved to have very good pedal efficiency and feel.
