Low consumption record for Ford Fiesta

Just 16,22 λίτρα diesel χρειάστηκε το Ford Fiesta ECOnetic Technology για να καλύψει μία απόσταση 624 χιλιομέτρων σε δημόσιους δρόμους, as part of the "Fleet World MPG Marathon 2012" economy rally held in Britain at the beginning of October.

Performance corresponding to average consumption 2,6 lt/100 km and which brought the Fiesta ECOnetic Technology to the top of the ranking.

The honor the Fiesta achieved in the race is 21% lower than the average consumption officially announced by Ford (3,3 lt/100 km)!

The Fiesta ECOnetic Technology was followed in the ranking by the Kia Rio 1.1 CRDi 1 Eco and Peugeot 208 e-HDi EGC, while models such as the Toyota Yaris Hybrid finished in the back positions, Fiat Panda Multijet Easy and Volkswagen Golf TDI 105.

Fiesta ECOnetic Technology uses a motor 1.6 TDCi diesel combined with the Ford ECOnetic Technology package for low consumption and CO2 emissions of just 87 g/km. It is the most efficient passenger car ever produced by Ford of Europe.

Focus consumes 3,4 lt/100 km and has CO2 emissions 88 g/km. Its special catalyst, with nitrogen oxide trap (NOX), helps to reduce CO2 emissions through a process of burning a leaner fuel mixture, using a higher air/fuel ratio.

The most efficient Focus of all time features innovations such as:

– Auto-Start-Stop
– Smart Regenerative Charging
– Active Grille Shutter
– EcoMode
– Gear Shift Indicator
– Special engine mapping
– Optimized transmission ratios with six-speed gearbox
– Lower suspension
– Wheel spoiler
– Low rolling resistance tires reduce friction from air and road
– Special aerodynamic protectors on the lower part of the body.

The Ford Fiesta ST with 180PS

The truth is that a fast version was missing from the Fiesta range, which also highlights the company's involvement in the WRC, where it recently won in Australia.
So Ford in Frankfurt revealed a WRC-inspired version of the Fiesta called the ST. The car will “time” the 1.6lt 180PS turbo engine and will accelerate from standstill to 100km/h in less than seven seconds while its top speed will exceed 200km/h.
The transmission will be a six-speed manual.
Fast versions of the Ford Fiesta have a long history with the XR2, the XR2i but also the previous Fiesta ST.
