Garelli's "racing history" is for sale

In the "hammer" rare GP motorcycles, among them the Lazzarini champions, Nuvolari

Almost two dozen motorcycles Garelli Grand Prix they all come together at an auction in Paris. They are the property of one and only collector who until now were kept in a private… chapel, apparently as "sacred" objects that they are!

Among them there are some pre-war models, but also several from the 80s, when Garelli was at the zenith of her racing success. In other words, Garelli's racing history is for sale.

One of the most important collector's items, it's a Garelli 50 of cubic 1963 which held the world speed record and is estimated by 48 as 60.000 euro. Also the racing 50 of Eugenio Lazzarini (1983) with which Garelli took the Manufacturer's Title that year (estimated by 12-18.000 euro).

End, a replica of the GP125 two-stroke twin-cylinder that in the 80s won six Riders' Titles and 4 Manufacturers (estimated by 6 – 10.000 euro).

Part of the same collection are two non-Garelli racing bikes: Fred Merkel's Honda RC30 which the American SBK World Champion rode this season 1989-90 (estimated at 17.000 – 30.000 euro) and the Yamaha TZ250W ridden by French rider Jean-François Baldé in his final year in Grand Prix racing, the 1989 (estimated at 3.000 – 3.500 euro).

The auction is being conducted by Bonhams at the Grand Palais in Paris, at 6 February 2013.
