A smaller Lexus GS hybrid is in the works

Against BMW diesels, Mercedes and Audi

The evolution of a second, of a smaller hybrid in the GS range, Lexus has confirmed. The new model may be called the GS300h and takes aim at green diesel versions of the German competition – see e.g.. BMW 520d EfficientDynamics and Audi A6 2.0 TDI. The technical details of the new version remain unknown, however, as revealed by Yoshihiko Kanamori, chief engineer for the new GS, the petrol engine will be bigger than the 1.8 of CT200h and smaller than 3.5 GS450h's V6 (photo).

The logic says that the ready-made solution of the hybrid models of the American market Lexus ES300h and Toyota Camry Hybrid will be used, which combines a 2.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine with an electric motor and a CVT transmission. The new Lexus hybrid will be ready on 2013, while we will learn more information at the Paris exhibition next September.

Small changes for the Nissan Pixo

THE Nissan made minor changes to Pixo's engine and aerodynamics, which had the effect of dropping average CO2 emissions below their threshold 100 g/km.

That means how, when the renewed small Nissan arrives in our country, will not pay road tax, at least according to what is in force today.

Other changes include two new colors (Midnight Purple και Glistening Grey) and slightly updated cabin decoration, where some plastics have changed from gray to black.

Since the Pixo is based on the Alto, it was only a matter of time before we saw these changes, since they have already been done in the small Suzuki.

The new Peugeot 301

A new 4-door small and medium model was recently presented by Peugeot. It is about creating the classic recipe of a practical sedan, which has a global character, also introducing the number "1" as an ending to the name of a Peugeot model.
 Initially it 301 it will be available in neighboring Turkey and then it will also come to the markets of Greece, of Russia, of Ukraine, of Africa, of the Middle East and in several Latin American countries.
The 301 looks stylish and modern, borrowing design elements from the new 208 and 508, presenting a balanced length silhouette 4,44 meters. Its wheelbase 301 is 2,65 meters and the luggage space is impressive 506 liter. In terms of engines, initially the new 3-cylinder petrol engine will stand at the base 1,2 liters with performance 71 horses. Next is the petrol engine 1,6 liters with 115 horsepower, which is flanked by the diesel engine 1,6 liter HDi with performance 92 horses.
The 301 it will be produced at the Peugeot plant located in Vigo, Spain and will be officially presented in Paris next fall.

The production version of the budget Yaris Hybrid is coming

At the Geneva salon 2012 Toyota is preparing to launch the production version of the Yaris HSD Concept that was presented at last year's Geneva. The first photos show that the appearance maintains the dynamism of the prototype, with the front part noticeably different from the "conventional" Yaris.

The hybrid system consists of a gasoline engine 1,5 liter, an electric motor and e-CVT transmission, with the total power reaching them 100 horsepower. The average consumption and CO2 emissions values ​​are really impressive: 3,5 lt/100 km και 79 g/km respectively. As the Japanese say, the smaller size of the system components and the placement of the battery under the rear seat, along with the fuel tank, contribute to maintaining spaciousness. Indicatively, the trunk remains at 286 l, such as the gasoline and diesel versions of the Yaris, while the total weight of the Hybrid Synergy Drive is 20% lighter compared to its Auris hybrid counterpart. Although Toyota is not announcing more information, the Yaris Hybrid's affinity with the Prius C shown in Tokyo and Detroit lets us know that there are three driving modes: Normal, Eco, and EV mode.

In Eco, the throttle response and the air conditioning are adjusted with a view to the best consumption, while the EV makes it possible to move exclusively with electric energy for very short distances (smaller than 1,5 km and at a speed of up to 40 km/h). Production of the Yaris hybrid will begin before summer 2012 and will be made at Toyota's Valenciennes plant in France. For now, its only direct rival is the Honda Jazz Hybrid.

2012 Renault Scenic & Grand Scenic Facelift

After the Megane came the renewal series for the more family-friendly Scenic and Grand Scenic of the Renault range. Slight changes in appearance, give a new freshness to the French MPV models. New features include LED daytime running lights and a redesigned front bumper with gloss black sections. New colors are added for the bodywork. The new design of the front of the Scenic highlights a more dynamic profile. At the same time, the additions of LEDs and the new front bumper of the larger Grand Scenic contribute to the creation of a more balanced appearance set.

Inside, the transport capabilities remain the same with the changes focusing on the colors.
In the mechanical parts, important is the addition of the new petrol engine 1.2 of TCE liters with yield 115 horses and 190 Nm of torque. Its low cubic capacity is an ideal entry-level version in the world of Scenic. In the diesel options the set of 1.5 liters with them 110 horsepower, it shows the way of the economy with average consumption just 4.1 lt/100km and 105 gr/km CO2 emissions. More powerful and ideal for the weight of the Scenic, o 1.6 liter dCi diesel engine with performance 130 horsepower and average consumption 4.4 lt/100km (114 gr/km CO2).
