This F6B version of the legendary Gold Wing is a bold mix of elements from the two mainstays of American two-wheeled culture. –of custom and road kings.

The success of the Gold Wing GL has been going on for thirty-eight years 1800 in America. However much respect he exudes today, it cannot be considered cool, especially among younger riders. (How cool can a reverse bike be;). Honda has known this for a long time and has tried to expand the appeal of GW with very daring bikes like the Valkyrie (F6C) and the Rune. And it probably failed.

The new stripped-down Gold Wing F6B will change that; It all depends on which strings of the American motorcycling soul it touches.. It's not Honda's first six-cylinder custom, but it may be the first that has a logic.

This time the "Japanese" (because the bike is designed at the Honda Design Center in the USA) avoided creating a jumble of mismatched elements with period aesthetics, which he eventually named Valkyrie. He also avoided drawing inspiration from some utopian space opera, creating an unreal "something", who dipped it in chrome and took it to the streets under the name Rune.

To tell the truth, how many Americans do you think usually ride such bikes, have some idea of ​​what Valkyrie and Rune mean; Honda must have been confused, thinking the bikes will be sold in Germany.

So with the third and drugged attempt, Honda has a chance to succeed. And this time, starting with the simple, understandable name. The aesthetics of the motorcycle, a Komodo Dragon with its tail cut off, can be considered an authentic "translation" of the legendary GW. Essentially, then, the F6B is an aesthetic exercise, and a rather safe way for Honda to approach the younger part of motorcyclists or motorcyclists who like such vicious constructions.

The platform is the same as GW's, but the silhouette has changed dramatically. The huge trunk behind the passenger seat has had a haircut, but the large side cases have remained. The lower half of the fairing has been renewed, having more intense hot air exhaust grilles, while the "garage door" that wears the classic Gold Wing for jelly has been replaced by an "eyebrow".

Everywhere in context, engine and wheels, one sees black strokes, while the colors offered are gloss red and gloss black. Under the skin anyway, everything has remained the same. The flat-six engine comes directly from the Gold Wing. It is housed in an aluminum frame of gigantic dimensions, low and forward –this position keeps the center of gravity low and contributes to the easy change of inclination, but also direction.

The weight amounts to 382 kilos, 29 less than the standard GL1800. Standard equipment includes a sound system with MP3/iPod connection, large digital display with Trip Computer, clock, air temperature and sound system controls. The expensive Deluxe version offers the front passenger a back cushion, central stand, self-extinguishing flashes (!) and heated grips.
