The award was given in Oslo

To three women, the president of Liberia, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and activists Leima Gbowi, also from Liberia, and Tawakul Karman, from Yemen, the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded yesterday, at a special ceremony in Oslo.

The chairman of the Norwegian Nobel Committee, awarded the top prize to the three ladies "for their non-violent struggle for women's safety and for women's rights to participate fully in peace-building efforts".

Liberia's president says she is honored to follow in the footsteps of Africans who have won the award before her, such as Desmond Tutu and Kofi Annan, and expressed her sorrow for the people of Norway, where 77 people died in 22 July from Anders Breivik's murderous rampage.

Musical Miracles with Eleftheria Arvanitaki

From 17 December every Saturday and Sunday at Gazarte
Once again our visit to the "wonderland" becomes a reality through the voice and presence of Eleftheria Arvanitaki. Once again the magical vehicle of music takes us on a journey through its unique songs – the ones we know and love more and more, those that time makes more and more new...
This time we meet Eleftheria in Gazarte. Together with her four musician friends they become a group that plays and sings with power and emotion, with dreamy intensity and beauty. In the first part, creating a vicious circle, like in the after hours of a youth party, they pick up the guitars and play beautiful charming ballads, aiming directly at our heart.
Such an acoustic set with Eleftheria Arvanitaki and her group is a musical refuge in this era, an opportunity to discover that miracles sometimes happen right next to us…
Second part, always through the inexhaustible repertoire of Freedom, with selected and essential moments of our popular song. Magic is accomplished through more tangibles (electric or not) tensions leading us to something we are used to taking for granted: the top aesthetic and performance level of the Greek performer – and the absolute emotion in everything, what concerns us...
For one more time, from 17 December every Saturday and Sunday at Gazarte, "Let's go again to the wonders" of music and song. With Eleftheria Arvanitaki as our guide.

TEDxAthens with Main Topic the "art of subversion"

Innovative ideas were presented as part of the event
Another TEDxAthens event aimed at highlighting important ideas has come to a successful conclusion. This year's TEDxAthens event, held on Saturday 3 December at the cultural center "Hellenic World", main theme was "The Art of Subversion".
Prominent personalities from the art world, of education and universities, of entrepreneurship and sports shared with the Athenian public their experiences and ideas with reference point the "Art of Upheaval".
Disruptive can be considered any element that has the potential to redefine the way a system or situation works, changing it forever. From Wikipedia and Twitter to molecular cuisine and tsunamis, the world is full of upheavals that redefine themselves on a daily basis, some less and some more, the way we live.
Along with the 23 speeches made as part of the event, TÉDxAthens organized a series of activities and workshops covering a range of topics from gastronomy to technology, showing how subversiveness, imagination and pioneering ideas can be applied in almost any field.
Yet, the tasks of the TEDxAthens Challenge competition were also completed, of a new action launched this year by TÉDxAthens, with the aim of highlighting and supporting worthy initiatives from the field of education and learning. On the scene of the event, the three dominant ideas were presented.
After a public vote, the winner was the action "Urban Dig Project - excavation of ghosts of culture in the modern city", while in second and third place were the actions "Athens Plaython" and "ACSTAC".
Dimitris Kalavros, curator of TÉDxAthens, stated about it: "We are very happy that our effort to organize such an important event in our city, was crowned a success for the third year in a row. We are a team 38 volunteers who for a year have tried for the best possible result. Apart from the event itself, we experienced the value of voluntary cooperation and the importance of organizing actions that can contribute to the current conditions of the country".
On his part, Akis Tsoukalides, also curator TÉDxAthens, reported: "In today's era, the need to find new paths that will lead us to creative changes is more intense than ever. From the economy and business, up to society, and our little daily habits, there is a belief that creative and at the same time disruptive ideas and initiatives can give new life and transform our world. That's why, we are filled with joy and optimism at the great response and participation of the public in our initiative"

Harrison Ford : He will play Indiana Jones for the fifth time

In one year he turns seventy, but this does not seem to deter Harrison Ford, who will once again play the hero-archaeologist Indiana Jones.
Filming will begin in a year and Harrison Ford is excited: “I have a strong ambition to do so while I am still alive. I am available. I'm not cheap, but I'm available".

Director Steven Spielberg has confirmed that George Lucas is editing the story for the next film. The last Indiana Jones movie was the 2008, but it didn't get particularly good reviews. As Spielberg mentioned, he was very happy with his movie but he understands people who didn't like it especially its plot.
