KARAKATSANIS : "The curtain has fallen for me"

For his decision to leave his great love, the theater, Thymios Karakatsanis spoke.
Our leading actor, speaking to "Espresso" he declares that he is disgusted and bitter about what is happening around us, but also in the theater, resulting in him making the final decision to close a huge chapter of his life.
– You will be performing somewhere this theater season;
I will appear on Monday! I have already retired…
– I don't think what you say is true. You served the theater with passion…
I can't anymore, I can't…he says tiredly and withdraws into himself.
– Why are you staying away?;
Because I don't like it!
– Don't tell me you're retiring;
What should I retire?, since I have already retired…
– How did you make that decision?;
All this worthlessness has disgusted me.
– You feel the need to detox;
Ε, Yes. Rather…
– You have generously offered laughter to the audience. Now why this denial;
I'm crying now…
– If you were given a space right now, what project would you upload that would reflect today's situation;
"The Kouluvachata", the work that life itself writes.
– A kind of satire;
I wouldn't say satire. It's kind of a tragedy…
– They say that a great comic actor can play an ancient tragedy just as well. Why didn't you dare?;
Once, when I was in the Art Theatre, Kun put me up, since I begged him, in a tragedy. And with the first sentence I said, they all burst out laughing. Then I realized that my tragedy is laughable…
– You suddenly became tight-lipped…
What can I say; What is there to say;
– How do you view the theater from a distance?;
May I be absent from the public. My absence, however, does not mean anything. There must be many missing !
– Are you saying that today there are people in the theater who have nothing to do with it?;
I believe that the absence would be good for many and above all for the theater itself and our culture.
– You don't even want to play Aristophanes in the summer;
In my dreams, Yes. Think of…
– What else are you thinking?;
That's the way things are, that as time goes by you think that I have been working for so many years and finally what did I do; All you hear is a bitter review. And even for things that were not your fault.
– I don't think the public has ever rewarded you with that kind of criticism.
Yes, Okay. But there are also those tubercles of the horn. I don't know what else they will write, but I don't care either. All I care about is how this place is going to get back on its feet. I have everything else written down!
– The situation we are all experiencing, how you comment on it;
Very nice! THE,what do you need to start cursing!
– How do you deal with this crisis?;
With judgment.
– Do you think the country will get out of the impasse?;
The country was never out. I don't know if it will come out. If you see the things that define our lives politically, culturally, socially, it's banging your head against the wall.
– Do you think we have a new possession;
We are not even under occupation.
– What situation are we in?;
Completely unprotected.
– You, deeply politicized artist, of the great personalities of the modern Greek theater, what do you think should be done to see a white day in this place;
Let's be in the "Wealth" of Aristophanes. More expensive in everything.
– How do you feel when the foreign press makes headlines for our country?;
It seems they understood what we are.
– All these unbearable taxes you pay or resist and disobey;
No matter how disobedient you are, the tax office comes and fucks you.
– What hurts you the most the way things have turned out?;
What hurts me is that everyone makes a fight after the fight is over.
– You could go out into a square and urge your fellow citizens to revolt;
I could do it by addressing theater people. Nevertheless, if there is no ticket, you can't make a revolution. Everything about the ticket is done.
– You remember some other such difficult time;
I don't remember a difficult time for the country, because there was no easy one.
– How are you financially?; Many fellow craftsmen tell you that they are having a hard time, let alone you who are not working now…
We'll see… We are always housewives.
– You also have your axe, which has all the good stuff.
Yes! You must be a householder so as not to disturb society.
– You fear for your children's future;
I fear for the future of all the children. My children do not live outside society and neither can one protect one's children. All you can do is teach them. And unfortunately, the teaching is to make them loathe the world.

Nikos Portokaloglou in Thessaloniki

He welcomes his friends to a different musical performance
This is not another unplugged, nor for forced cuts due to crisis. In the Mill of Thessaloniki, at 2 December, Nikos Portokaloglou welcomes his friends to a different musical performance that aims to act as an antidote to the pessimistic climate of the time.
After a ride of almost 30 years, we know very well that every new step of the songwriter is the result of his "hidden, of endless thirst", of his restless spirit that is not comfortable with the acquired. So in this year's show we are invited to a game where the songs are stripped bare and transformed to rediscover their soul and their origin..
Songs that in the first performances leave, due to electrical instrumentation, just a hint of oriental root, here with oud and fiddle, they will clearly show where they come from. Also lyrical songs that often did not find their place in the big concerts here with strings and guitars will be highlighted again.
Portokaloglou declares in a song of his latest album "oriental rock" but so far the former has probably prevailed over the latter. Remix is a chance for revenge!

Long live Greek children ;

source:newsbeast.gr

The new show by Alexandros Rigas and Dimitris Apostolos.

Long live Greek children; And if you're alive... answer us a question... How did we get here?; What did he do?; Our bad fate; Our evil the radical; Our head; Our zodiac sign; Ares the retrograde; Our mistakes…; It is probably because the glorious history of Greece is inversely proportional to our memory (maybe even our future) she is short and small. We forgot what we lived through, what we put up with, what did we get into, how unfairly we have treated ourselves, in this country and those around us and above all how we let "friends" and enemies patronize us leading us to the painful today. Let's take another look at the armed sadistic MAT policeman to understand, that nothing is ultimately what it seems. To hear the absurd ravings of a politician in open confession giving absolution to his colleagues. Get insights from the life story of a married couple who devise the most unlikely ways to deal with the crisis. To eavesdrop on what happens in an emergency cabinet on the day that (will) Greece goes bankrupt and the live connection of the bankruptcy with many, many and expensive ads... Let's see how effectively the exchange economy works through the intelligence of a former ASEP non-designate and now a prostitute. Let's shudder with the gloomy image of Greece in 2042...where they celebrate the 100 years from the German occupation and again from the Germans. Yes...yes...yes... And many more that are useful to remember, to understand them, let's laugh at our "faces" and introduce ourselves again... and who knows, maybe we'll avoid the worst... The show will be staged in a few days at Lampeti theater.
