Nissan is changing the commercial policy for the electric model to make it more affordable first in the Japanese market and then in other markets. The Leaf that will be released from the new year will be offered in a version with lower equipment and a significantly lower price.
Nevertheless, the Leaf will be technologically upgraded as important components in the car change.  The electric motor and electric power systems now have 30%  smaller external dimensions and less weight vs 10%. The charger has been significantly shrunk and moved to the front to save space in the trunk, in which it was placed up to the current model.
The lighter components used in the Nissan Leaf resulted in a weight reduction of 88 kilos. In fact, it is used in the electric motor 40% less material Dysprosium, a rare earth, very expensive in cost which is necessary because of its excellent magnetic properties.

Elsewhere in the new Leaf, the steering response and energy recovery system have been improved to make it more efficient and smooth to operate.. Η τιμή του ηλεκτρικού της Nissan θα είναι φθηνότερη από 5.000 to 9.600 δολάρια ανάλογα την έκδοση εξοπλισμού.
