Audi A4: High(is) Tech!

In the next generation of A4, Audi emphasizes the technologically advanced character of the car, combining the – timely and necessary – relief, with two new hybrid versions.
– No design surprises
– Based on new platform
– For the first time and a hybrid
– Present it 2014

Filling in exactly 20 years since it was first produced, the 5th generation Audi A4 will be presented and launched in European markets on 2014. The new German medium model, aesthetically, as our spies show us, it will not be differentiated much from its familiar current lines, on the other hand though, to all the other parts of his estate he will bring much and great news. But let's look at them in order...

A small Audi A6
The aesthetics of the body of the new generation Audi A4 will bring it closer than ever to the larger A6, gaining in grandeur and prestige. So, in the front part, the bumper with the large black panels on its edges, looks like it's borrowed directly from the big German sedan, while in the back section, the third volume rises slightly upwards, creating a slight illusion of a 4-door coupe. Naturally, reigning once again is Audi's polygonal front grille, which, especially in the new A4, will be framed by long narrow lights with newly shaped LED bulbs.

The dynamism of the scheme, however, will also contribute to the expected reduction of its total amount, which of course will also benefit the aerodynamics.

New floor, lighter and with better rigidity
We have talked to you several times about the new "MQB" platform of the VW group, since most of the Group's new models with dimensions up to a medium car are based on this floor (B.C. New Audi A3, VW Golf, SEAT Leon, Skoda Octavia etc.). In the new A4 however, the platform will be different, the also new "MLB", which concerns cars with the engine along their longitudinal axis, with the rest of its features not differing from the MQB platform.

So that means that, benefited from its new floor, the next Audi A4 will be lighter than the current one (about the 100 kilograms in total), but also with better rigidity compared to the past. Note that, this platform will also be seen in the next Audi A8, but also in all future "Q" models of the brand.

The first Audi A4 hybrid
In the next generation of A4, Audi plans to bring us its first hybrid midsize model, but also in general, its first hybrid car that will be able to charge the batteries from an external power source (plug-in hybrid). The hybrid system will consist of a 2-liter turbo gasoline engine 225 horsepower and an electric motor 35 horses, with the energy for the electric motor coming from batteries that will charge as we mentioned above, from an external power source. Except for now in this edition, we will also see another hybrid variation, which will replace the traditional quattro four-wheel drive, for this reason it is still known today as "e-quattro".

This system will carry the same 2-liter TFSI petrol engine that will send power to the front wheels of the A4, but with it there will also be two electric motors that will send torque only to the rear wheels. It is very important that, in city conditions, the System will isolate the petrol engine and the car will be driven only by its electric motors and rear wheels! Naturally, except for hybrid options, the range of the new Audi A4 will carry all the known TFSI and TDI engines of the Group, with the latter being the newer Euro6 versions.
