On the third and… "drugged" generation of Skoda Octavia, with reference points modernization and the new platform, officially presented by the Czech brand, at the premises of Boleslaw.
The new Octavia bases its presence on the brand's new design line introduced this year by the Rapid and which is visible mainly in the front part of the model.
Larger in dimensions and with an elongated shape are the lighting bodies, which also incorporate LED daytime running lights, while correspondingly larger than ever are the fog lights.
From there and back, the roof of the new Octavia is lower than today, while it closes on the trunk less vertically. also, in the back, the trunk has more height, with the new lamps on either side being more squared off with lamps in a 'C' arrangement.
The essential element in the third generation Octavia has to do with the new platform on which it is based, i.e. on the VW Group's volatile MQB platform (new Audi A3, VW Golf VII etc.).
This floor allows the dimensions of the new Octavia to increase (length +90 millimeters-wide +45 mm-wheelbase +108 millimeters), placing it now clearly in the middle category.
Despite this increase, the new platform is lighter (approximately by 100 kilos) Skoda's mid-size car than ever before. Thus contributing to the reduction of consumption and emissions, but also in the better performance of its TSI and TDI engines.
The spaciousness in the upgraded, in terms of quality, interior is again a point of reference, while the trunk capacity has increased by 30 l, from the 560 στα 590 l!
The range of engines - which are combined with manual gearboxes, but also DSG- includes the known 1.2, 1.4 and 1.8 TSI, with corresponding performance 105, 140 and 180 PS, but also them 1.6 and 2.0 TDI, with 105 and 150 horses respectively.
Shortly, the very interesting GreenLine version will also be launched with 1.6 TDI to perform 110 horsepower and carbon dioxide emissions (CO2), to be remarkably limited to 89 g/km!
In the first phase, the model will be launched -into 2013 and in our country- in front-wheel drive versions, but optionally there will also be the possibility of choosing permanent four-wheel drive.
The equipment of the car is also richer, with automatic parking system, intelligent lighting and driver fatigue detection system.
