BMW announced plans to create a separate "brand" for its models with the well-known M logo. The official launch of the brand will take place in March at the Geneva exhibition.
With the brand of electric cars "i" that he recently introduced, BMW has now announced that it is investing in another "in-house brand", this time for a sports model with the familiar "M" logo.. The official launch of the new sports brand created within BMW's "circles" will take place next March at the Geneva Motor Show. This will include the new M models (M3, M5, M6) but also the top versions of other BMW models such as e.g. the X6 M50d.
The reasons why BMW makes this move have more to do with marketing and mainly with the way in which the "M" models are "communicated" in the global markets. In each case, after this development, we may see new models that will only compete commercially as BMW M, i.e. without simple versions in their range.
