As far as the aesthetic area is concerned, the influences from the Veloster are more than evident in the front of the Hyundai Genesis for the 2012. So at this point we have a new hexagonal mask, redesigned front lights and LED daytime running lights. However, the rear lights have also been redesigned, which are also LED technology. Although no photo of the interior of the renewed coupe has been published yet, let's say that the information states that in addition to upgrading the quality and equipment, the central console on the dashboard is also redesigned, which is now more reminiscent of that of the new Veloster and i40.
However, we have significant changes under the hood of the new Hyundai Genesis 2012MY. So their flagship V6 3,8 liter has been replaced by a new mechanical set of the "Lambda" series (3.8 GDi) which of course has direct injection technology and now performs 350 horsepower (43 more than in the past) and 400 Nm of torque.
Of course, we also have changes in the basic 4-cylinder turbo engine 2 liters which in the current model yields 210 horsepower. Hyundai therefore replaced this particular engine with the new two-liter turbo of the "Theta" series that is also present in the new Sonata. Of course there is a larger intercooler and twin-scroll turbo for the occasion, which means the base engine in the new Hyundai Genesis delivers 275 horses and 372 Nm of torque.
But the good news continues as the company has confirmed that both engines will also be available with the all-new automatic transmission of 8 company relations, while the top engine will also be available with an automatic 6 relations. We should also say that both mechanical sets are combined with a manual gearbox 6 relations.
