Whitney Houston may have been absent from this year's Grammys, but actually it was everywhere! At the biggest celebration of American music, the atmosphere was heavy. Just a few hours after the sudden death of one of the biggest voices on the planet, none of the shining stars of the pentagram were in the mood for cuteness on the red carpet.
"We have lost our heroine. I wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for Whitney.", Kelly Rowland said and continued: “I am praying for the mother and her daughter. If we are devastated by this loss, I can imagine how they feel".
Whitney Houston has been waiting to get back on stage at the Grammys for another special performance. But he didn't succeed. But the burden of her songs was lifted on their shoulders by Jennifer Hudson, who had previously sung with her on this same stage at the Grammys, and Beyonce.
And everyone was silent and moved when Jennifer Hudson came out and sang the now legendary "I will always love you"! It was as if no one could catch their breath as everyone broke into a standing ovation when at the end Jennifer said goodbye to her idol saying: "I love you Whitney"!
Chaka Khan there too, to honor an old friend, a favorite artist.
"I am speechless. I am in a state of shock. I'm just praying for her family.", she said clearly moved.
These Grammys weren't the celebration we're used to. The atmosphere was heavy and no one seemed to want to say much. No one seemed to realize the great loss.
They spoke Whitney's songs and filled the room with amazing melodies and endless love.
"I hope you have found peace now", Kelly Osbourne tweeted, a wish that was shared with her by almost everyone present.
