In the late 1970s he began singing with Thad Jones and Mel Lewis' orchestra and then played with the cream of modern jazz musicians such as Don Pullen, Kip Hanrahan, Courtney Pine et al. In the mid-eighties she started releasing her own music and that's when her enormous talent was noticed.
