90 years of Mickey: Concerts from Chania to Rotterdam

Mikis Theodorakis turns ninety years old today and on the occasion of his birthday – but also the informal "Year of Theodorakis" – many events are organized both in Greece and abroad, in honor of the great composer. The Palace Garden is expected to be packed tonight for the tribute, where the presence of the great musician, Eleni Vitali, Zacharias Karounis and Betty Charlauti collaborate with the Mikis Theodorakis Folk Orchestra to perform classical pieces and excerpts from "Axion Esti".
Today, besides, as in the next two days, the Second Program of Public Radio modifies its program in the context of the special Miki Theodorakis Week. In her frame, Is the motto of the 16th Spare Parts Bazaar 8 in the morning and’ throughout the day producers curate special shows, interviews, tributes, anecdotal recordings, rare material from the ERT archive along with live concerts.

Today, for example, Dimitris Trikas will host Maria Faradouri and they will talk about the common path of the performer with the composer (at 09.00). An hour later, on Maria Kozakou's show, new creators will play live Theodorakis' unrecorded songs and unreleased new arrangements.

At 12.00, Litsa Totska's guests are Giorgos Dalaras and Themis Moumoulidis to talk about their Miki. Immediately after, Giota Delona presents the work of Mikis Theodorakis "The Sun and the Time", while his show will be broadcast in the next two hours 1999 in which the composer talks about the "Axion esti".


IN CHANIA. Today, Chania also joins the dance of tributes – the composer hails from Galatas, Chania, who was born in Chios. In Lavrio, from tomorrow until 6 August, an exhibition of archival material of Athanasia and Iros Markoulis will be held in the Technological and Cultural Park of the area. On Friday, in the same place there will also be an anniversary concert by the Lavrio Men's Choir.


IN EUROPE. After the symposium organized at the Sorbonne University on poetry, the music and politics of Mikis Theodorakis (18 to 20 June), the honor nights continue. At 23 August in Brandenburg Germany, a concert will be given under the direction of conductor Peter Kopp, in which works by Tchaikovsky and Mendelssohn will be heard.

A month later, at 25 September, in the city of Una, Germany, there will be another concert with excerpts from "Worthy Home".

Maria Farandouri will have a key role in the European part of the celebrations, whose collaboration with Mikis Theodorakis dates back to 1963. Giorgos Dalaras will cooperate in the last two.

Reason VI: The telegram: exhibition at the Museum of Byzantine Culture

The Museum Byzantine Culture hosts the exhibition Reason VI: The telegram, with works by collection of OTE Telecommunications Museum - Donation Michalis Tsipidis / Photographic mission of Spyros Staveris.

Η έκθεση πραγματοποιείται με αφορμή τη δωρεά της συλλογής αυθεντικών (vintage) τηλεγραφημάτων του Μιχάλη Τσιπίδη στο Μουσείο Τηλεπικοινωνιών του ΟΤΕ.

They are presented approx 70 original telegrams, mainly of a commercial nature, από τις διαφορετικές τηλεγραφικές υπηρεσίες με έδρα τη Θεσσαλονίκη από το 1870 until the 1956 (η Οθωμανική Αυτοκρατορική Τηλεγραφική Υπηρεσία, the Bulgarian, the Serbian, η Αγγλική Eastern Telegraph Company και η μετεξέλιξή της, η Cable and Wireless, η Αγγλική Cable Telegraph Company, η Eλληνική Ταχυδρομική Τηλεγραφική Τηλεφωνική Υπηρεσία και ο ΟΤΕ).

Η παρούσα συλλογή του Μιχάλη Τσιπίδη περιλαμβάνει περισσότερα από 300 πρωτότυπα τηλεγραφήματα και το 2012 donated to the OTE Telecommunications Museum.

The report also includes a film of short length (5.30’’) with an interview of the collector Michalis Tsipidis. Additional, four items are presented (επιτραπέζιο χειριστήριο τηλεγραφίας, milliammeter, telegraph table dialer, table electromagnet) από τη μόνιμη συλλογή του Μουσείου Τηλεπικοινωνιών ΟΤΕ.

THE TELEGRAPH SERVICES OF THESSALONIKI

Ottoman Imperial Telegraph Service 1870-1912

Στη Θεσσαλονίκη λειτούργησε τηλεγραφική υπηρεσία πιθανότατα για πρώτη φορά στα μέσα της δεκαετίας του 1870. Αποτελούσε το ένα τμήμα της αυτοκρατορικής κρατικής υπηρεσίας των ταχυδρομείων και του τηλέγραφου και στεγαζόταν στο ίδιο κτήριο με το ταχυδρομείο επί της οδού Εγνατίας με Συγγρού γωνία. Στις αρχές του 20ου αιώνα το γραφείο λειτουργούσε όλο το 24ωρο, δεχόταν δε και έστελνε τηλεγραφήματα τόσο στην αραβική όσο και σε δυτικές γλώσσες. Το Οθωμανικό τηλεγραφικό γραφείο έκλεισε στα τέλη Οκτωβρίου 1912.

English Cable Telegraph Company 1880-1912

Στη Θεσσαλονίκη λειτουργούσε γραφείο της εταιρείας Cable Telegraph Company επί Οθωμανικής Αυτοκρατορίας (at least from 1885). Το γραφείο σταμάτησε τη λειτουργία του το 1912. Τα τέλη για αποστολή τηλεγραφημάτων μέσω των καλωδίων της Cable ήταν πάντοτε ακριβότερα από τα αντίστοιχα της οθωμανικής τηλεγραφικής υπηρεσίας.

English Telegraph Company Eastern Telegraph Company Limited 1912-1937

The 1878 η αγγλική εταιρεία Εταιρεία Eastern Telegraph Company επέκτεινε τις δραστηριότητές της στον ελλαδικό χώρο, συνάπτοντας μακρόχρονη σύμβαση με την ελληνική κυβέρνηση, which ended the 1916. Τελικά λόγω του πρώτου παγκοσμίου πολέμου και μετά από νέες διαπραγματεύσεις η σύμβαση παρατάθηκε και έληξε οριστικά το 1956. English Telegraph Company Cable and Wireless Limited 1937-1956

Η εταιρεία Cable and Wireless Limited προήλθε από μετονομασία της Eastern Telegraph Company το 1937. The 1956 η εν λόγω εταιρεία συγχωνεύθηκε στον Οργανισμό Τηλεπικοινωνιών Ελλάδος (OTE) which had been founded the 1949.

Bulgarian Telegraph Service 1912-1913

Κατά το διάστημα της σύντομης παρουσίας βουλγαρικού στρατού στη Θεσσαλονίκη από 9 November 1912 until 16 Ιουνίου λειτούργησε στην πόλη βουλγαρικό τηλεγραφικό γραφείο. Στεγαζόταν στο ισόγειο ενός επιταχθέντος βουλγαρικού ξενοδοχείου το οποίο βρισκόταν κοντά στη συνοικία του Βαρδαρίου. Hellenic Postal Service, Telegraph and Telephone service (T.T.T.) 1912-1949

Το ελληνικό ταχυδρομείο και τηλεγραφείο στη Θεσσαλονίκη λειτούργησε αρχικά στο αντίστοιχο οθωμανικό οίκημα επί της Εγνατίας οδού, το οποίο κατελήφθη από την ελληνική χωροφυλακή το πρωί της 27ης Οκτωβρίου 1912. Telecommunications Organization of Greece (OTE) 1949-

Ο Οργανισμός Τηλεπικοινωνιών Ελλάδος (OTE) ιδρύθηκε με το νομοθετικό διάταγμα 1049 her 1 September 1949 και λειτούργησε ως ανώνυμη εταιρεία με μοναδικό μέτοχο το Κράτος. Σ’ αυτόν αργότερα συγχωνεύθηκαν όλες οι προϋπάρχουσες υπηρεσίες επικοινωνίας, όπως αυτές της τηλεφωνίας και τηλεγραφίας των Τ.Τ.Τ. and 1956 η εταιρεία Cable and Wireless Company.
