Outlaws directed by John Hillcoat, in the cinemas

Odeon presents John Hillcoat's new film with an original title «Lawless» and the Greek translation "Illegals"which will premiere in Greek theatres, on Thursday 25 October 2012.

After the hard and pessimistic "The Road", Australian John Hillcoat tackles the historical novel "The Wettest County In The World" and tells a true story set in America during the Great Depression. The Tom Hardys (“The Dark Knight Rises”) and Shia LaBeouf (“Transformers”) play the Boudurand brothers, producers and smugglers of illegal whiskey. Co-starring Gary Altman and Guy Pearce, while the cast is completed by Jessica Chastain and Mia Wasikowska. The script was written by musician Nick Cave.

In the era of Prohibition, the Bondurant brothers are a legend in Franklin State, Virginia. Having survived the Great War and the Spanish Flu, they indulge in whiskey smuggling, also called moonshine because it is traded under the light of the moon. But the arrival of Police Officer Rakes from Chicago turns things around – and while the whole State submits to his new and corrupt regulations, the Bodurands bow to no one.

The Director
Director John Hillcoat was born in Queensland, Australia 1961 and grew up in Canada. He has directed music videos for artists such as Siouxsie and the Banshees, Depeche Mode, Placebo and Nick Cave. The 1988 is directing his first feature, το “Ghosts Of The Civil Dead”, for the screenplay of which he collaborated with Cave and is based on the life of the criminal and later author Jack Abbott. Follow it 1996 "To Have and To Hold" starring Cheki Karios, and 2005 "The Proposition", again scripted by Cave, starring Guy Pearce, Emily Watson and Ray Winstone. The 2009 the dramatic film "The Road" made a sensation, from Cormac McCarthy's book of the same title, starring Viggo Mortensen. "Illegals" was nominated for the Palme d'Or at the last Cannes Film Festival.

Wednesdays with Cinema at the Michalis Kakogiannis Foundation: Anti – Tribute to Saint Valentine

The BMIin its context general offerof to her moviegoers of Athenswith the cooperation and support of the independent distribution company of selected films New Star and Velissarios Kossyvakis, has established an informal Film Club, every Wednesday at 21:30, with free entry, in his Cinema.
On Wednesdays with IMC Cinema, they have a place and films by established and new creators are screened, films that speak a unique cinematic language with the mark of each creator evident, films that have contributed to the special image and development of that cinema that captures the different,  opens up horizons, entertains and at the same time focuses on people and situations, relationships and events of wider interest.
February 2012 Anti – Tribute to Saint Valentine
Away from pink balloons, cards with hearts and bouquets the cities continue indifferently on their course. Cities divided in two, cities wild dark and haunted like the lives of their people, who seek and experience the obsessions of love, the contact, the brief flame of human life, and in the hope of happiness they form their own moral codes. Next to the pink happy ones, sweet pictures, they also project wild images in earthy colors, in sepia and black and white that reveal the secrets, the passions,  the pursuits of people in the eternal pursuit of happiness…
In February, in the month that usually celebrates a saint of lovers, the IMC has chosen and presents films about love that are unconventional, separate, away from hagiographies, even if some of them are dominated by angels, in a instead- tribute to Saint Valentine. Because life has many aspects as well as desires.
In addition and… suddenly, music is playing!
Young people, but also already established,  notable musicians and music students occupy the foyer of the Michalis Kakogiannis Foundation and introduce themselves to the public through small concerts with various types of music. Through this cycle of events they find a platform for expression and present musical prologues for the film screenings of “Wednesdays with Cinema at IMC”,  about half an hour before the start of each screening with free entry for all.
In this context, on Wednesday 22nd and Wednesday 29 February 2012, the audience will have the opportunity to come into contact with musical works of the U. Kotzia, X. Samaras and N. Jiajiu, as well as recent compositions inspired by the film ta “Wings of love” of N. Mavraki, A. Mouzaki and G. Badass.
The works are interpreted by A. Tzigiannis (piano), A. Chaniotis (violin), N. Nikolopoulos (flute), P. Sioras (clarinet), M. Stellius (mandolin).
