Jean Genet's work entitled "Somebody's Paradise 2" returns to the Michalis Kakogiannis Foundation from Wednesday 20 February up to Sunday 3 March 2013.
A tough one, modern work, based on the life and work of Jean Genet.
The play unfolds in the prison where the inmate is incarcerated for the umpteenth time, Gene, trying to finish a book. The heroes spring from his imagination, they take on flesh and blood, they live their own lives on the sidelines, they hate and worship their creator. Reality and the writer's imagination are so intertwined, that you can't tell which is which. Genet's world – more relevant than ever today- it becomes the mirror of our world.
JEAN GENE takes us on a tour of the fringes of human society, to those that hurt us, they scare us, they attract and repel us at the same time, only help in our journey the human values that will emerge, only shelter ourselves, only hope is the understanding that in the end everyone has the paradise they deserve.
There is justice in this world;
There is reward and punishment;
The bad are in prison and the good are vindicated;
