ALEXIOU-GALANI : 40 melodic years "In blue velvet"

"Because the future is planned through the past…», the two interpreters make an appointment at "Pallas" for 15 "ef’ of all matter" musical performances
"I feel like I was on’ a horse and I galloped…», says Haris Alexiou about the musical journey of life and is completed by Dimitra Galani, "A singer's face is the songs he chooses to sing"
Two women, two voices, two parallel stories… The two female names – symbol of the Greek song, Haris Alexiou and Dimitra Galani, they will be together on the stage of "Pallas", Is the motto of the 16th Spare Parts Bazaar 13 January, in order to give 15 joint musical performances under the general title "On Blue Velvet".
Fifteen "velvet" nights, Well, will offer the public the two interpreters who meet on the same stage after years. The strong relationship that binds them, however, the common and important experiences of the past, the love for the same faces and of course for good singing, he never let them get away. They were communicating, even when one was far from the other, they followed each other's steps, they were together for a while and then they each went their separate ways.
The route
Somehow forty whole years passed. Forty years full of great songs, important collaborations, thousands of hours in recording studios and even more on stage, in front of the microphone, face to face with all this world that adored them: "I don't know how most people imagine this route. I feel like I was on’ a horse and galloped and ran and passed through various places, I met various people, I was glad to meet them, that I was singing different things, which I had accepted…», says Haris Alexiou characteristically, referring to the musical journey of her life.
Dimitra Galani again describes in her own way the reason and value of this coexistence: “Because the dizzying speeds of the record market make the 40 years seem too many. Because it can be like that for an artist's career and certainly like that for a person's life. Because a singer's face is the songs he chooses to sing. Because success means that an artist can manage his past as if it were present and because through the past the future is planned…».
Through their significant past, Well, the two interpreters will lay the foundations for their future. And surely this meeting of theirs will provide an opportunity to escape from the harsh reality through music.
For the program that the two will present, they do not want to reveal many details. What is certain is that it will be based on simplicity and essence. Besides, big songs and big voices don't need special support.
YESTERDAY'S SONGS
The artistic chemistry between Haroula Alexiou and Dimitra Galani was shown in the best way through the joint album that the two recorded in 1981 entitled "Yesterday's Songs". Using their voices as their main weapon and accompanied by only a guitar and a harmonica, they performed a series of favorite songs by important composers: from Hadjidakis and Theodorakis to Loizos and Neo Kyma, and from folk to popular foreign ballads. In the repertoire of this disc which sold 100.000 the songs "Thalassa Platia" were also copies, "Jamaica", "The Road", "The Train", "Don't get tired of m’ you love", "Love that has become a double-edged sword", but also "The House of Rising Sun".
EXTENSION
From the beginning, the two performers intended to give ten performances, but after the great acceptance of the public they decided to extend their joint appearances for five more nights.

The Archaeological Museum of Ioannina nominated for the European Museum Award

Nominee for the European Museum of the Year Award 2012 (European Museum Award 2012), is the Archaeological Museum of Ioannina. The museum was visited last September by members of the Jury of the European Museum Forum (EMF) which is under the auspices of the Council of Europe and specifically the ladyShirley Collier director of the Scarborough Museum of Britain and Mr.Michael Ryan, head of ICOM in Ireland, who expressed their admiration both for his exhibition and for its organization.

The aim of the award is to promote innovative museum practice andoffer quality public services to all categories of visitors. In the past, in fact, the Folk Art Museum of Nafplio has been honored with the EMYA First Prize (1981) and with the Council of Europe Award the Museum of Byzantine Culture of Thessaloniki (2005).

The Archaeological Museum of Ioannina highlights through its seven main halls and in addition the central corridor and three atriums (total area 1.200 T. m.) about the 3.000 archaeological findings covering a long period of time, since the first appearance of man in Epirus, during the Lower Paleolithic era (before 250.000 years) as well as the west of late antiquity in late Roman times (3century AD. X.).

However, special emphasis is placed on the findings of the sanctuary of Dodoni, which are exhibited in a room dedicated exclusively to one of the most important oracles of the Greek world. The structure of the exhibition is based on three axes: a timeline, a geographical and a thematic one which as they intertwine, run through the museological flow, trying to highlight the special physiognomy and course of the region during antiquity.

It should be noted that the 2012 are completed 35 years since the institution of the European award.

Enigma 1050: The motorcycle you build yourself!

It has not yet received press approval, but the demon Jim Lindsay who inspired her, has already proceeded with its implementation. If nothing else Enigma 1050 is particularly impressive.

Jim Lindsay is a Macintosh computer technician by profession, but his love of motorcycling led him to realize his idea which revolves around building a new British motorcycle, which will be sold complete, while there will also be the possibility of assembling it by its owner (what we call kit). The Triumph 3 cylinder engine to be used is ideal according to Jim, even though it has been on the market for many years, since it first appeared 1997. Criteria for its selection (except for the fact that he is British!) is the good torque output over a wide rpm range, but also the performance of 121 horses.

The goal is to have the new bike ready by April 2012, with the first tests then taking place at the Cadwell Park circuit. End, Jim reports that there are already two buyers, while more details about its development can be found athttp://enigma1050.co.uk
