Tender notice for the development of the eCall emergency system

The procedures for the implementation of the eCall emergency project are being accelerated, an emergency service, in the event of a car accident.

The Deputy Minister of Development, Competitiveness, Infrastructure, of Transport and Networks St. Kalogiannis, signed the announcement of the open tender for the selection of the contractor who will undertake the execution of the project, which is carried out in the framework of the European project HeERO.

HeERO (Harmonised eCall European Pilot) is the pioneering technological pilot application of the eCall system in nine European countries: Hellas, Italy, Germany, Romania, Czech Republic, Netherlands, Croatian, Finland, Sweden. With the consortium of nine countries, a common protective framework is created for the first time in Europe, for early detection and assistance in the event of a traffic accident using the eCall system.

Upon completion of the project, which is expected in approx 15 months, a mobile phone transceiver, built into the vehicle, automatically calls the emergency center for help.

The call is made through the Emergency Call Center (112) and contains data about the vehicle (type of vehicle, frame number, geographical coordinates of the location of the vehicle, direction of movement, etc.), in collaboration with the General Secretariat of Civil Protection.

The Ministry of Infrastructure, of Transport and Networks had from the 2005 sign with the European Commission, Memorandum of Understanding for the participation of Greece in the eCall program, the implementation of which was started by the European Commission on 2009.
