Report on the "irrational truth" of Papadiamantis

One hundred and thirteen artists participate in the tribute to the Archaeological Museum of Patras

From Nikos Stefanos to Yiannis Psychopaidis, and from Alexis Veroukas to Michalis Madeni. One hundred and thirteen artists talk about the 'absurd truth' of an ever-fascinating writer, of Skiathite Alexandros Papadiamantis. Of the walker with 'the messy beards, the unkempt surroundings, the muddy shoes, the faded half-high, the papadist barrel with the silver handle and the improvised collar with the black cord".

The exhibition "Visual Tribute to Alexandros Papadiamantis: The truth is always absurd" is already hosted by 9 February at the Archaeological Museum of Patras and will last until 18 Of March.

After her very successful presentation in Athens at the Melina Cultural Center last December, the dedicated exhibition to the leading Greek writer organized by the artistic company Mikri Arktos is transferred to the new Archaeological Museum of Patras organized by Art in Progress "with the conviction that Papadiamantis today, frugal and at the same time extremely penetrating and self-aware both in his life and in his work, remains as relevant as ever". The 6th Ephorate of Prehistoric and Classical Antiquities and the University of Patras collaborate.

The 113 participating artists create wall and sculptural works starting with Alexandros Papadiamantis, attempting to penetrate small aspects of his life and work: to talk about Papadiamantis, the quirky and bohemian in his private life, the more ecclesiastical than religious, the “lonely, unloved and suffering", the reckless spendthrift in the disposal of his hard-earned money though extremely unnecessary in terms of his daily needs, the savior and not the devourer of souls, the user of a rare private language that draws from both the vernacular and the pure, the "saint of Greek letters" and "dark sparrow" of his own stories, the patron of the Dexameni cafe, the solitary walker of Psyrris and regular chanter of Agios Eliseus who sometimes commemorates the autobiographical landscapes and the humble but full of dark passions of Skiathos and sometimes meticulously sketches the slums of Athens and its strange inhabitants.

The National Theater of England at the Concert Hall

A theatrical trip down memory lane, from his Hollywood 1936, in the small Eastern European village of the early 20th century, to the early steps of the moving image and the explosion of technological wonder, is the new work of Nicholas Wright directed by Nicholas Heitner, which turns the theater stage into a cinema screen.

The reason for the show "The Traveling Light" (Travelling Light), which will be presented at the Athens Concert Hall (Alexandra Trianti Hall) on Thursday 16 February (at 9 p.m.) in a taped broadcast from England's National Theatre.

The project combines the idea of immigration and cinema, the route from the Jewish folk tradition of Europe to American cinema and is inspired by the fact that many Hollywood directors were Jewish immigrants from Eastern Europe. In the leading roles, the Athenian audience will have the opportunity to enjoy the multi-awarded theater actor Anthony Sher, and Paul Jason.

Two times and two places are the space-time of the action: At the beginning we are in his Hollywood 1936 in the company of Maurice Montgomery, a successful director, who at 60 of, "visits" the beginnings of his career in a small village in Eastern Europe in the early years of the 20th century.

The masterful direction of the director of the National Theater of England, Nicholas Heitner, along with Bob Crowley's setting, evoking Chagall and Fiddler on the Roof, they create the right landscape for John Discoll's videos and projections, with which we travel since the first films, with the bearded villagers, in the melodramas of silent cinema. Much of "Travelling Light" is played out on screen, behind the actors, a production hint at today's theater's debt to cinema.

This is the fourth broadcast by the National Theater of England- after "Servant of Two Masters", "Kitchen" and "Collaborators"- which "hosts" the Concert Hall this year, in collaboration with the British Embassy and the British Council.

Amen Amen: a performance by Stavros Xarhakos at the Acropolis Theatre

Premiere at the renovated Acropolis theater on 17 February and for 20 performances up to and including 31 Of March

The Acropolis Theater and the State Theater of Northern Greece are co-producing "Aman Amen", his favorite work
Stavros Xarchakos, a musical performance based on rebetiko song, directed by the composer himself.

The premiere was given on Friday 30 December at the Royal Theater of the co-capital, while in Athens it will premiere at the renovated Acropolis theater 17 February and for 20 performances up to and including 31 Of March.

According to Stavros Xarchakos, rebetika songs are songs of vision for a better life, they are the songs of the denial of dreams, they are the rebetikas of the eternal nostalgia of beauty, the rebetikas of the sanctity of desire, the rebetikas of defiance of terror, the rebetika songs of challenging fate and restless struggle with death...

The "aman" that comes out of the soul meets the "amen" of a prayer. In the straight line that unites the Byzantine organ with the rebetiko and with the Little Asian song, love travels, the passion, the lust, the nostalgia, the fate, the death, dreams for a better life, deprivation of liberty and refugee status. This is how Stavros Xarchakos listened to these sounds of the past and set up a musical performance entitled "Aman Amen". A spectacle-listening with old and new compositions, a folk stage as overwhelming as a liturgy.

Each of the two parts is divided into three sections. There are songs of grace, of Teke and the East.

Eleni Menegaki : "A breakup can't be good"

On the occasion of Saint Valentine's Day, today's Eleni Menegaki show started with George Sampanis and Elisavet Spanou singing the song "Days when I don't love you".

"Happy birthday guys!" he said, after the end of the song the 42-year-old presenter to her two guests, and continued, looking at her partners: "They say that lovers can be seen from afar, because they shine! Let's see, who really are in love; (…) It's a beautiful thing to be in love. To forget the problems - the everyday ones, because the most serious ones I don't know if they can be overcome simply with love".

Subsequently, the discussion moved to the love that remains alive after a separation and Eleni Menegaki commented: "Being divorced doesn't mean you've come full circle and are no longer in love. There are breakups where the situation is over, but there are also separations where the story is not over, but unfortunately various issues led her there. (…) There are relationships that end, they reach the end, and couples can break up even amicably if the relationship has reached that point. Sure, a breakup can't be good - that's what I'm saying, with my own life experiences, I don't represent the whole world. But there is the separation that the couple has come full circle and there are also separations between couples who are in love, but they fight , they disagree…we've all been through this”.

The station wagon version of the Chevrolet Cruze is also ready

Having already cleared a very positive commercial course, the Cruze is gradually getting new additions to its range which are expected to further enhance its commercial profile. So after the 4-door Cruze we know and the 5-door Cruze hatchback that was launched recently, το οικογενειακό Chevrolet αναμένεται να αποκτήσει και στέισον βάγκον έκδοση αμαξώματος η οποία θα παρουσιαστεί επίσημα στην έκθεση της Γενεύης τον ερχόμενο Μάρτιο.
Aρχικά, our interest is located both in the aesthetics of the car which looks very interesting and modern, contrary to what is the case with many station wagons that lag far behind in design.
Also, at the level of practicality, Chevrolet emphasizes that its new model has luggage space 500 liter, a number that triples when the rear seats are folded down.
In what has to do with the motors of the length 4,59 model meters, its range is not going to differ substantially from what we already know, with a gasoline engine 1,6 and 1,8 liters but also with a very interesting diesel 1,7 liters of power 132 horsepower and with barely CO2 119 gr / km.
