According to well-informed sources, Alfa Romeo plans to add a wagon version to its midsize Giulietta range, inside 2013.
The version in question, as is obvious, it will complement the range of the already acclaimed hatchback version of the Giulietta, which is currently the best-selling model of the Milanese brand, providing at the same time – as a version- an important commercial... helping hand to "mom" Fiat in an extremely important vehicle category of the European market, as is that of station wagons. We remind you that the companies that make up the Italian group (see. Fiat, Lancia and Alfa Romeo) they haven't presented a "compact" micro-medium wagon model since its inception 2008, around the time the not-so-successful Fiat Stilo Wagon was discontinued.
It is worth adding that in the extremely competitive car market of D. Europe, cars in this category represent a total of almost a quarter of sales, rate in fact that in some markets, as in those of Germany and Italy, their share amounts to 70%.
Strategically, the wagon version of the Giulietta is expected to give Alfa Romeo a small but, but important in the bad times we are going through a stimulating injection at the level of sales, while the latter is preparing for the presentation of two very important new models in the 2013: of the new Giulia, who will receive the baton from 159 and a crossover model, which will be based, as everything shows, on a Chrysler "subsidiary" floor. We remind you how, at present, Alfa Romeo has only two models in its ranks, the 3-door MiTo and the 5-door Giulietta (SS.: its sales represent the 60% of the brand's total European sales), since last November the Italian car industry's leaders stopped its production 159 at the Pomigliano d'Arco factory, in order to create... space for the construction of the new generation of the Fiat Panda.
The upcoming Alfa Romeo Giulietta Wagon, which, it should be noted, will not be available on the B market. Of America (note: according to the Italians, the given preference of Americans for sedans and crossover vehicles will be an inhibiting factor for the success of the version on the other side of the Atlantic), it is expected to be slightly longer in length compared to the 5-door, while no surprises are expected even in the mechanical sets that will move it, which will be the same as those of its 5-door variants.
