Volvo V40 Cross Country

Fifteen years ago, the 1997, Volvo with the V70 Cross Country brought a small revolution, creating an entirely new class of vehicle. In a few days, at the Paris Motor Show, Volvo presents the new V40 Cross Country in the premium segment of the small and medium class, a car that combines all-road durability with premium character.

There is a clear separation between Volvo's XC and Cross Country range. The XC series has a more pronounced SUV off-road character, whether it is combined with four-wheel drive or not, with all-terrain vehicles. On the other, the Cross Country series has a pure crossover character. The Volvo V40 Cross Country is higher than the V40, with the driver sitting 40mm higher.

With the exception of the T3 version (of 150 horses) of the 1,600 hp gasoline engine, all other V40 engines are also available in the V40 Cross Country. Greater interest in the Greek market has 1.6 T4 of 180 of horses with the 27,5 kg. maximum torque, consumption in mixed conditions 5,5 l/100km and C02 emissions 129 g/km. This engine is combined with either a 6-speed manual transmission, or with the Powershift dual-clutch automatic transmission, also six relationships. By using a double clutch, faster changes are ensured, which achieve even greater fuel economy.

The well-known and popular diesel engine is of equal – if not greater – interest for the Greek market 1.6 D2 of 115 of horses with the 29 kg. of torque (includes 1,5 about km. of torque delivered in overboost mode). Its consumption in mixed conditions is 3,8 l/100km which corresponds to 99 g/km for C02 emissions. This engine is mated to a six-speed manual transmission.

Our familiar from the V40 five-cylinder two-liter D4 engine of 177 horses, it is also available on the V40 Cross Country. It pays off 40 pounds of torque over a wide rpm range with acceleration 0-100 km/h σε 8,3 seconds with the automatic transmission and 8,6 seconds with manual. Mixed consumption is 4,4 and 5,2 l/100km with manual and automatic transmission respectively. The C02 emissions for the manual and automatic transmissions are respectively 117 and 137 g/km. Also available is the same engine in a different mapping and under the D3 designation, which yields 150 horses and 35,6 kg. of torque. And this one is mated to both manual and six-speed automatic transmissions. All engines have start/stop and energy recovery system during braking, regardless of whether they are combined with a manual or automatic transmission.

The V40 Cross Country is also available in a four-wheel drive version, available exclusively with the five-cylinder 2.5 T5 gasoline engine of 254 horses, with the 40,8 kg. of torque, number which includes 4 about km. of torque available in overboost mode during acceleration. It is combined with a six-speed automatic transmission and has acceleration 0-100 km/h σε 6,1 seconds. Its consumption in mixed conditions is 7,8 l/100km in front-wheel drive and 8,3 l/100km in the four-wheel drive version.

To offer even greater flexibility especially in sudden height changes, the new V40 Cross Country has a Descent Control System (Hill Descent Control) in the T5 version equipped with four-wheel drive. This system automatically controls the car's speed when descending steep slopes. The new V40 Cross Country also features a Hill Start function (Hill Hold), which allows more comfortable starting on uphill surfaces. With the exception of some unique features that the new Volvo V40 Cross Country has, the car has the same basic equipment as the new Volvo V40.

Volvo Car Corporation expects annual sales of the new V40 Cross Country to be approx 17.000 units. The 50% of these cars will be channeled to the European market. The car will be built at Volvo's plant in Ghent, Belgium. The start of production is scheduled for the end of this year 2012.

Nέο Volvo V40: From 21.070 euro with withdrawal

Volvo Car Hellas has announced the suggested retail prices for the new V40, shortly before the car's official appearance at its showrooms in Greece, which is scheduled for mid-July.

With a design that stands out, the new V40 has a decidedly Scandinavian look and feel. It is expected to redefine the premium midsize segment, featuring systems derived from older Volvo models. It introduces unprecedented equipment in its category, such as the pedestrian airbag, the City Safety which now intervenes up to 50 km / h, pedestrian detection with automatic braking, the variable digital instrument panel, the glass panoramic roof, the illuminated gear selector and more.

The entry-level equipment for the new Volvo V40 is also the Optimum series. This includes among others: pedestrian airbag, the City Safety system to avoid collisions in city traffic, which in its 2nd generation has now extended its field of operation up to 50 km / h, dynamic stability and traction control system with advanced stability system, torque redistribution differential and sports mode, driver airbags, passenger, side and roof, knee airbag for the driver, side impact and neck injury protection systems, ABS with brake assist, electric steering wheel, Start/Stop system and energy recovery system, interior mirror without frame, sound system with integrated color screen, CD/MP3 player with AUX socket and much more. The basic equipment follows in detail on the next page.

For petrol versions of the new V40, there are two options, based on the engine we know from the S60/V60 1,6 liter, of course with a turbo, like all Volvo engines: The T3 version of the 1.596 κ.εκ. and 150 horsepower with CO2 emissions 125 ml/km. In the Optimum equipment level, T3 starts from 21.070 euro with withdrawal (initial 22.500)
the T4 version, also of 1.596 κ.εκ. but with 180 horses this time, with CO2 emissions 129 ml/km. with the manual 6-speed transmission. In the Optimum equipment level, the T4 version starts from 22.820 euro with withdrawal (initial 24.250).

In the diesel versions, the options offered by the new V40 are even more: The D2 version with the turbo diesel engine 1.560 ml, with 115 horsepower, with torque as his main weapon: 27,5 kg. (that take place 29,05 kg. with overboost). It is worth noting that the D2 version depending on the choice of tires/rims may have CO2 emissions 94 or 99 ml/km. The consumption of the new V40 with the 94  gm/km is just 3,6 liters/100 km. in mixed traffic conditions (respectively the issue of 99 ml/km. he's got 3,8 liters/100 km). In both cases there is an exemption from road tax while the suggested retail price remains the same, which starts from 21.970 euro with withdrawal (initial 23.400). Note that the price of the D2 version is just 900 euro greater than the as well 1,6 liter petrol version T3. The D3 version with the 5 cylinder turbo diesel engine 1.984 ml, with 150 horsepower, which starts from 25.750 euro with withdrawal (initial value 28.550), in the Optimum version with a 6-speed manual gearbox. CO2 emissions are 114 ml/km. The D4 version with the 5 cylinder turbo diesel engine 1.984 ml, with 177 horsepower, which starts from 28.980 euro with withdrawal (initial value 31.780), in the Kinetic version with a 6-speed manual gearbox. CO2 emissions are 114 ml/km.

Alfa Romeo 4C: A miracle is born!

Only a few months are left until the impressive Alfa Romeo 4C sets its wheels on the roads of Europe, overturning with its presence the data in the 2-seater sports car category.

Having been officially presented at the Geneva International Motor Show 2011 and for the second time in the autumn of the same year at the Frankfurt Motor Show in a particularly impressive coloring (Fluid Metal), the dazzling AlfaRomeo 4C is now literally on the doorstep of the markets of the Old Continent. With the leaders of the Italian company having already planned the start of its production in 2013, the 2-seater compact supercar of the Milanese brand adopts the traditional "rear-drive" architecture for sports driving enthusiasts – engine in the center", having a length very close to 4 μ. and wheelbase less than 2.400 mm. These dimensions on the one hand emphasize the "compact" features of the car and on the other hand focus on the flexibility and sportiness of the character, together of course with the unique design lines, both inside and outside, which literally overflow with genuine Italian style.

The Alfa Romeo 4C Concept uses technology and materials derived from the impressive 8C Competizione, such as carbon fiber, aluminum and rear-wheel drive), as well as features from the rest, more "earthly" Alfa Romeo models, currently on sale. Some of them are the turbocharged petrol engine 1.7500 TBi direct spray, the "dry" type and dual clutch Alfa TCT gearbox, as well as the selector of the D.N.A system which concerns the modification of the car's dynamic characteristics. The 4-cylinder engine of the 4C, thanks to the cutting-edge technology it adopts, such as direct fuel injection into the chamber, the double and continuous timing of the valves, the modern turbocharger and the revolutionary scan control system that eliminates turbo lag, performs over 200 horses giving unique emotions and impressive performances from every point of view. Combined with the dry type, Alfa Romeo dual clutch automatic transmission, manages to accelerate the Italian… sculpture from the 0 to the first ones 100 km/h in less than 5 δλ. reaching top speed 250 km / h.

Skoda Rapid

The Rapid is taking a central role in doubling Skoda's sales and will be launched in all European markets in the autumn of 2012. Its manufacturers believe that it will impress with the very large spaces for its category, the value-price relationship, its active and passive safety as well as its range of turbocharged engines.

The car fully incorporates all elements of the new corporate design, which will also characterize the next new models. The front shows off Skoda's new design philosophy. The brand's new badge is placed in a specially designed position on the front bonnet and no longer on the grille, whose shape is now wider. A chrome frame surrounds its dense vertical stripes that ensure effective engine ventilation. The lighting bodies have a new design and complement the aggressive design of the front part.

Despite the relatively compact external dimensions (length 4.48m and width 1.7m), the new Rapid surprises with its interiors. Its five passengers will have unique comfort and facilities while their luggage is taken care of by the luggage space that exceeds 500 lt. Two diesel and five petrol engines form the driving force and will be mated to either manual or automatic DSG gearboxes 7 relations. For our market, gasoline engines stand out 1.2 TSi and 1.4 TSi 105 and 122 horsepower respectively while in diesel engines o 1.6 TDi will be offered in two different horsepowers 90 and 105 horses.
The new Rapid makes its debut at the Paris Motor Show next September.

Mercedes A45 AMG: First information

The first information regarding the top AMG version of the new A-Class is seeing the light of day, which will yield about them 330 horsepower and will be four-wheel drive.

That the German company intends to multiply the sales of the AMG "family" in the coming years, it is anything but a secret in the bosom of global motoring. More specifically, given our information so far, the aim of the Mercedes executives is to increase the annual sales of the AMG brand by 50% up to 2017 (from 20.000 The day for the draw of the two lucky ones 30.000 units on an annual basis). We would like to remind you that this year AMG will hopefully close the 50 years of its activities. In order to achieve the ambitious, in the midst of an economic recession, this goal, an important role is expected to be played by the new A-Class AMG, which will bring, given the first elements, the name A45 AMG.

Under the hood of the car will be housed a 4-cylinder engine 2,0 liter, with turbo system and direct injection, who will report on them 330 horsepower combined with torque that will surpass the 40 kg. from just 2.000 rpm. As can be seen, the new A45 AMG is directly targeted by its German... like-minded people, which of course are none other than Audi's RS3 and BMW's M135i. In each case, this 2 liter engine, it will transfer the drive to all four wheels of the car with the help of a Haldex type clutch, as well as a 7-speed dual clutch gearbox, while the now "established" ESP system will be three-stage, with a corresponding number of operating programs. According to estimates so far, the acceleration of the new A45 AMG from stop to first 100 km/h will be in the range of just 5 δλ.

By design, the new A45 AMG, which is strategically expected up to 2017 to be the eighth or possibly the ninth model of the AMG family, it will stand out from its humbler versions, thanks to the more accentuated grille and the… safely scattered front auxiliary aerodynamics, back and side, while inside the eyes are expected to focus on the impressive Recaro bucket seats. When can we expect to see the top version of the new A-Class on the roads for the first time?; Although so far there is nothing official, the information so far tells us that her debut is not expected to take place before the beginning of next year.

Premiere for the new BMW Zagato Coupe

At the Italian Classic Car Show Villa d'Este Elegance Competition in Italy the German company presented in collaboration with Zagato a very interesting prototype based on its coupe version BMW Z4.

This is a sufficiently impressive and hand-made for the occasion concept car created exclusively for the needs of the presence of the Bavarian company at the exhibition in question, which takes place these days on the shores of Lake Como in Italy. According to what the two collaborating sides have announced so far (BMW Zagato), whose relationship dates back to 1959, when they were first introduced by BMW 3200 Michelotti Vignale and BMW 700 (1959) and it continued 1962 and 1978 with the premiere of BMW 3200 CS Bertone and BMW M1, the new Zagato Coupe is the Italian brand's perspective on the sports coupe model category. It is worth noting at this point that this is not a static prototype model, but for a "dynamic" car which has already been tested on the road by the BMW executives. An element that – if nothing else- does not exclude the possibility that the new Zagato Coupe will in the near future be a first-class source of inspiration so that at some point a corresponding "product" will be included both in the production line and in the range of available BMW models.

The bodywork of the new Zagato Coupe is based on, as is natural, in that of the BMW Z4. Unfortunately, both the latter and Zagato do not currently give information regarding the options in the mechanical parts (see. engines, transmission coc). By design, the result is certainly impressive, as the front of the car is dominated by BMW's characteristic muscular grille, which is decorated especially for the occasion with dozens of "z" referring to its creators. from there on, the impressions are stolen by the long hood, the side trims located on the front fenders, the pronounced double swells on the roof (double bubble), as well as of course the "intense" end of the tail.

Premiere for the VW E-Bugster Speedster Concept

The Beijing Motor Show was chosen by VW to present the open version of the electric E-Bugster Concept, which essentially photographs the open version of the modern Scarab.

Last January, at the Detroit International Auto Show, VW presented the E-Bugster concept for the first time, an electric version of the new Beetle with even more... advanced design features. Today, the Germans go one step further by choosing the Beijing Expo to "unveil" the open version of the prototype. With the letter 'E' representing the word 'Electric' and the type of powertrain and the 'Bugster' being a contraction of the words 'Bug', which on the other side of the Atlantic is the Beetle's nickname and "ster", behind which the word "speedster" is hidden, this open concept is based on the latest generation Beetle, with a more... sporty and aggressive outer appearance, with wheels 20 inches, lower ground clearance and differently designed front and rear bumpers. also, characteristic is the panel that covers the batteries, directly behind the backs of the two passengers, as is the lowest by 90 mm.  windshield. Regarding its dimensions, VW announces length 4.278 μ. and width 1,838 m., value greater by 30 mm. compared to that of the "regular" Beetle.

As regards the vehicle's power unit, VW executives have chosen to install a sophisticated electric motor (zero emissions for sure), which yields 115 horsepower and is combined with lithium-ion batteries which in turn ensure a minimum driving range of the order of 180 km. According to the official announcements of the German company, the open electric prototype is able to accelerate from standstill to first 100 km/h in 10,9 δλ. Regarding charging the accumulators with energy, the German company announces that they are needed – as in the case of the corresponding closed one- just 35 minutes for a full charge, while, of course, their supply is also carried out through the braking of the vehicle
