Antonis Mitzelos at Half Note: Extension of appearances

Antonis Mitzelos, charismatic guitarist, composer and performer among the most acclaimed and beloved, meets
on stage with AnimaCorda, consisting of Michalis Bruzos and Giorgos Behlivanoglou, two classical guitarists who have distinguished themselves with the richness of their musical ideas and timbres but also with their excellent technique in electric, acoustic and classical guitars but also with Marianna Polychronidis, which, apart from her acting talent, has a rich, well done voice, which allows her to sing comfortably, songs from many different musical cultures.

They present KITARODIA on the Half Note stage, an unexpected performance, with a unique and different harmonic effect at each concert.

The first five performances of Kitharodia have already taken place with great success in the very special space of HALF NOTE jazz club and four more Mondays with guests follow:

The three guitarists and Marianna Polychronidis, take the HALF NOTE stage with their guests, with a disposition for dialogue and improvisation, with voice and heart and attempt to communicate not only with each other but also with the viewers.

With their guitars, acoustic and classical, a world together and no longer apart, instruments polyphonic and sensual, they present and improvise on pieces from their personal discography, in well-known compositions by Antonis Mitzelos but also in selections from Greek and international rock & jazz repertoire, from Mikis Theodorakis to Al di Meola and Manos Hadjidakis to Eric Clapton, in a program that creates the most complex and rich melodic landscapes, emotions, stories… In addition, the program also includes news, unreleased songs by A. Mizelou.

Their Kitharody, contemporary and timeless, is done through its propagation ”fine guitar playing”, of lyricism, of Greekness and above all of the belief that... music is ultimately the only truth!

Legends and lamentations by Eleni and Suzana Vougioukli on Half Note

Hymns and gospel, purifying tarantellas, redemptive obituaries, songs of nature, in an ideal ritual of Spring. For three musical performances, Holy Tuesday, Holy Wednesday and Holy Thursday at Half Note.

 THE Eleni and Susana Vougiouklis that their work on transnational musical forms stands out and gives them a special artistic identity, have specially prepared these concerts for Half Note. Among others, they will be heard“MY MOTHER,MOTHER” from the drosoulites of Christodoulos Halaris and Nikos Gatsos which is the anthem of Lebanon's Good Friday and in Arabic it is “WA HABIBI”. Another signature gospel song, the “MOTHERLESS CHILD” also sung by the greatest gospel singer, Mahalia Jackson as well as the “LET MY PEOPLE GO” as well as tarantellas and songs from the tradition of Greece and lower Italy.

Maria Joáo and Savina Giannatou: A wonderful musical partnership at Half Note

 Two leading female voices of contemporary music or jazz in a creative meeting that spans a wide musical spectrum...
and pierces the … tags! Maria Joáo is a global artist with appearances in the biggest Concert Halls of the world. The so-called "Vocal Queen of Portugal" comes from a Portuguese-African heritage that made sure throughout her career to be with her senses open to every evolution of modern jazz.
Historical are her duets with the Japanese free jazz pianist Aki Takase in the 80's as well as her collaborations with J. Zawinul, Hermeto Pascoal, R. Towner and others while the collaboration with the leading pianist Mario Laginha is timeless, with which he made the huge hits. It impressed the Greek public, όσες φορές παρουσιάστηκε στη χώρα μας τον καιρό δε αυτό παρουσιάζει– τις «Περιπέτειες των Μελισσών» με τους εξαίρετους Joăo Farinha και André Nascimento.
Savina Giannatou – one of the leading voices of our country – already has a huge track in the song that spans the art, the renaissance, the medieval and reaches the traditional and the Mediterranean, always in excellent relation to the experimental element and the strongly intercultural flavor.
With over 20 disks (concealment of the long-term cooperation with ECM) to her credit to date and tours around the world, Savina is a constantly renewed form of contemporary music. In her performances with Eugenia Karlavitis on the piano, she approaches well-known pieces in a completely different improvisational way. These two great voices of Joáo and Giannatou and their musicians, meet on the Half Note stage for the first time and combine their experiences in a promising musical feast with …heavenly voices!
