Appeal for education by Dimitris Mytaras

"Soon we will be the garbage of Europe!»

 "Greek MPs, save education and our children", is the
appeal addressed by the Greek visual artist and academic,
Dimitris Mytaras, in a letter he sends to the media. Dimitris
Mytaras who was on 40 years teacher at the College of Fine Arts
Arts proposes the creation of a law which would define precisely
the operation of educational institutions and clearly define
their operation, while sounding the alarm: if education
continue to operate in the already existing way "soon we will have
become the garbage of Europe!»

Here is Dimitris Mytaras' letter in detail:

"It is a fact known to all that our universities are degraded
internationally with no hope of recovery. The problems from what I have
found are mainly two: One is the interests of the teachers
which evolve according to their own criteria by voting for each other
without ratings, and second the interests of the parties which
they fish for voters through college students.
Because I lived 40 years as a teacher at ASKT, in the premises of the Polytechnic,
I think the problem should be put under’ before the Parliament and after study
to pass a law, which will precisely determine the operation of educational institutions
 Let us study the existing ways of operation of the big ones
institutions of Europe and America and to implement a law
strict which determines the obligations of students and teachers.
It is unthinkable for teachers to develop without an evaluation system
 It is unthinkable worldwide by decision of the student union to
interrupt the lessons etc’ indefinitely and creating huge gaps
in teaching. It is unthinkable to take over with a lot of theft and
violence against the educational staff and any kind
criminal offences, such as beating teachers and controlling students
clubs, by party orders. If they continue in the same way in a while
we will have become her trash
Europe!
 The legislative power, where is the Parliament, to assign to a
university committee, outside party criteria and concessions, to
draw up a law that guarantees the correct operation and correct
development of educational institutions.
 We believe that the Hellenic Parliament has an obligation to save it
the difficult phase the education which is the future of young people because
at some point we will have to sweep the yards of Europe
Union since we won't find work anywhere, as is now done with them
impoverished immigrants.
Greek MPs, save our children, because the cost will be
huge if we don't hurry. The Hellenic Parliament to save Education.
Pass a law for its operation at all levels. Consult them
major foreign universities and organize our own. The great interest
and the future is education".

An unknown Egyptian princess in the light

An unknown Egyptian princess in the light

The tomb of the unknown, Egyptian
princess was brought to light by archaeologists from the Institute of Archaeology
Czech Republic in the region of Abukir, near Cairo. According to the
inscriptions, in hieroglyphics of course, her name was Sert Nebti, daughter
of Pharaoh Men Salbo, who also is unknown to them
archaeologists. As for the dating of the tomb, it goes back to 2500 p. X.
in the period of the 5th Dynasty. The name of the princess is mentioned
in the inscriptions found on four limestone pillars at
vestibule of her tomb. However, a vestibule with
the sarcophagi of four officials as well as with statues of men,
women and a child.

 The announcement was made by the Minister of Antiquities of Egypt Mohammed Ibrahim,
who also raised the question, if near her grave are also
those of her father and mother, something anyway that will be answered at
near future. The head of the Department of Egyptian and
Greco-Roman Antiquities Mohamed El – Biali he stated
besides, that the excavation is at an early stage while the site remains
closed to the public. The Czech Institute of Egyptology

The Official Charts Company to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Official Singles Chart has revealed the list of bands that have sold the most singles in the UK. Kingdom.

The sex life of Mr. and Mrs. Papacharalambous at the Chora theater

Yiannis Zouganelis, with the valuable help of thousands of viewers, cured the "Sex life of Mr. and Mrs. . . .
Nikolaidis" and now tackles the "Sex life of Mr. and Mrs. Papacharalambous".
That's what the sequel will be called, the number two, the new version or, if you prefer, the sequel sold out (for two theatrical seasons) comedy by Dimitra Papadopoulou. This year's psychoanalysts are Gerasimos Skiadaresis and Joyce Eveidi. Through their own relationship, a new condition of psychoanalysis takes shape on stage.

Mr. and Mrs. Nikolaidis found each other and successfully redefined their sexuality. For’ this and they safely introduced the sexologist Giannis Leonardo to their good friends Gerasimos and Joyce.
What exactly is going on?; Mr. and Mrs. Papacharalambous are going through a sexual crisis in the financial crisis and the most famous psycho-sexologist in Greece (Giannis Zouganelis) undertakes to solve their problem, putting them in a group therapy, in which… the audience also participates! Jan Fabre: The power of theatrical madness at the Athens Concert Hall

The Athens Concert Hall presents its performance Jan Fabre, "The Power of Theatrical Madness" at14 and 15 November 2012.

 “A kind of theater quiz, lasting four hours and twenty minutes", according to journalist Barbara Frytak. "The Power of Theatrical Madness" (The power of theatrical Madness), is a play for five women, ten men and a lyric singer, which measures a course 28 years and is a historical performance. Not only in terms of its place in the overall work of Jan Fabre (it is the first work that established him internationally), but also because it defines the extreme point reached by the economy of illusion before it is overcome.

As a pivotal point in the history of theatrical illusion Fabre chooses an impressive creation by Wagner, "The Ring of the Nibelungen". It was Wagner who transformed the opera into a Gesamtkunstwerk (total work of art) and the first to turn a popular means of entertainment into a product of autonomous aesthetics. Fabre creates his own Gesamtkunstwerk, mixing a composition of different elements (eclecticism), where the blunt predominates, emphasis and mannerism, while at the same time all this bluster is interrupted and dissolved by a sense of realism.

In "the power of theatrical madness", the theater of the 19th century is presented as the most favorite pastime of the upper class, given over to seductive illusions. Through the subversive work of Jan Fabre finally emerges the power of an entirely new, modern theatre: beyond Wagner – in addition to all the reenactors who are "present" throughout the performance, from Bezar to Brook, from Mabu Mines to Muller. Audio excerpts of Wagner, Strauss, Bizet et al. mixed with the minimalism of Wim Mertens.

The show has no intermission, however, spectators can leave the hall and return during the performance. The bar will be open throughout the project. The idea, the direction, the sets and lighting are by Jan Fabre, the dancers are members of the troupe Troubleyn, the costumes(1984) the historical performance has been edited by Paul Engels, while Katarzyna Mielczarek of the Megaros performance. The event is held in collaboration with art historian Katerina Koskina.

The show is for adults. Not recommended for ages under 16 years.

Led Zeppelin and the historic London concert at the Megaro

A documentary will be shown with his live 2007 at London's O2 Arena

Led Zeppelin,  one of the most important rock bands of recent times 50 years, they come as close as possible, with the documentary from the exciting concert they gave 2007 at London's O2 Arena, which will be shown on Friday 16 November on 9 at night, on the screen of the Alexandra Trianti Hall of the Athens Concert Hall.

The event takes place on the occasion of the release of the DVD, Celebration Day, and offers the audience an experience of a historical event, with unique high definition and flawless sound.

The classic rockers also play their legendary songs brilliantly, like 'Stairway to Heaven', "Whole Lotta Love" and "Kashmir" are heard with equal power.

The film has already been shown in Manhattan, in London, in Berlin, Tokyo and is scheduled to be shown in 1.500 large screens in 40 Countries.

Twenty million people tried to get tickets for this landmark concert. Only 18.000 lucky people secured a spot after an international draw and Led Zeppelin said 'yes' to release on DVD by Warner Music as well as CD and Blu-ray, of this last exciting performance of theirs, a gift to their multitude of fans, one of the most important performances in rock history, which takes off every minute.

The three creators of the band, bassist John Paul Jones, guitarist Jimmy Page and singer Robert Plant accompanied by Jason Bonham, son of drummer John Bonham, who passed away suddenly years ago, they fully justify their legend in this concert, a concert-apotheosis, which through the lens and the ten cameras of the director Dick Carathers, brings these unsurpassed musicians within touching distance of viewers and captures every detail of their dynamic genius, of their finesse and creative communication.

The concert was a tribute to Ahmet Ertegan, creator of the record company Atlantic Records, of the company that introduced Led Zeppelin to the world audience from their first steps, at the end of his decade 60. Its recording on DVD has captivated audiences and critics alike, where it has been shown so far: riveting, conveys all the excitement of the live concert, a culmination of the band's seismic career, which gives their fans a sense of their greatness, the privilege of seeing "the Gods in action" up close.

With legendary communication power, genuine and unimaginably talented, led zeppelin have always been four top musicians, who managed to play as a band and stamp the 70s the same way the Beatles stamped the 60s. Starting with the blues, Led Zeppelin experimented with a wide range of musical genres: British, Celtic and American folk music, early rock n' roll, jazz, country, funk, soul, reggae and their sound stood out for its speed and intensity, the unusual rhythmic patterns, the humor, thoughtfulness, its mysticism and refinement. For many fans and critics, led zeppelin perfected baroque rock music and launched one of the most demanding campaigns in music history traveling through folk tradition, the Delta blues, Bach, Indian and other non-Western music and disregarding tradition.

AT THE THESSALONIKI FILM FESTIVAL : Austerity and new "images"

It starts on Friday with a new section on underground cinema, 15 films in the International Competition section and 14 Greek premieres

Another innovation is the new section for those initiated into the "underground" side of cinema entitled "Night Images", which is inaugurated by the restless gaze of Costa Zappa and the experimental work of the Israeli Lior Shamriz.
They participate in the International Competition section 15 movies - both Greek, "The boy eats the bird's food" by E. Lygizou and "Hara" by H. Giannakakis- while the jury consists of: Thomas Elgesser (chairman)-professor in the Department of Cinema at the Universities of Amsterdam and Yale, Ole Christian Madsen - director from Denmark, Lovel Gudjonsdóttir - director of the Icelandic Film Center, Joao Pedro Rodriguez-director from Portugal and Greek cinematographer Thymios Bakatakis.
They will be shown in the Greek section 14 films premiering in Thessaloniki, while others 19 joined the Digital Library of the Market.
The directors
The 53rd Film Festival will honor with their presence important names in the cinema field. The much-loved Finnish director Aki Kaurismäki, the multi-award-winning creator of Kurdish origin Bahman Ghobadi;, the German filmmaker Andreas Dresen, as well as Christian Mungiu, one of the most important representatives of contemporary Romanian cinema.

TRIBUTE TO TH. ANGELOPOULO

"Journey to Kythira" and jazz concert
The 53rd Film Festival includes a tribute to the work of Theodoros Angelopoulos, whose untimely death left an unfillable void in the field of cinema.
The tribute includes three movies-stations of the director - "The Troupe" (1974), "Journey to Kythira" (1984) and "Landscape in the Mist" (1988)- as well as a discussion and a concert by Eleni Karaindrou, at 9 November at the Thessaloniki Concert Hall with Dimitra Galani and the jazz trio "Human Touch".
In the discussion, which will take place on Thursday 8 November, collaborators of Th. Angelopoulos, among them the director M. Manda, the photographer D. Sophikite, the composer El. Karaindrou, the actors E. Kotamanidou and O. Antonutti.
