The Nissan Hi-Cross Concept in Geneva

The Japanese company has a new crossover prototype ready to be presented at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show that hints at the shape of the new X-Trail.

A teaser photo, which does not reveal much, of a new concept model was released today by the Japanese company. As she informs us, this is the Hi-Cross Concept, a model expected to continue the tradition of the brand, but also its existing range of crossover models. Company goal, certainly, is the continuation of the success of its two mainstream "SUV" proposals, the Juke and the Qashqai. On the tried and tested, but also completely successful, this recipe will also "step" on the new Hi-Cross Concept, which of course, in a slightly different form, will be the successor of our well-known X-Trail. In the planning of the Japanese Nissan is to present the successor of this successful SUV around the beginning of 2013.

Despite the fact that officially there is no further information (the Japanese company refers us to 6 Of March, when the new Hi-Cross Concept will be fully revealed at the Geneva Motor Show), we already know that in terms of design, this new proposal from the Japanese will follow a path similar to the Qashqai. In terms of external dimensions, in any case, expectations should move to the levels of traditional middle-class family models, except of course the height of the body and the distance of the floor from the ground. Something similar, certainly, with the "logic" to be followed in the form of the car inside and out, we also expect in the field of road characteristics, since the new Hi-Cross will clearly have an asphalt orientation and character. In the field of mechanical parts, as happened in the past, two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive versions are expected, while it remains unknown what will be the available mechanical units that will move them. However, it is not excluded, beyond Nissan's 2-litre diesels, to see under the hood of the new X-Trail and their turbocharged petrol engine 1,6 liters of the little Juke.

Series of live events, book presentations and photo exhibition

A series of four events on the theme of the relationship between Jazz and Literature and a jazz photography exhibition will be hosted at RIFIFI restaurant-bar (Emm. Benaki 69A, Expiration)  every Thursday in March. The aim of the events is the presentation of literary books inspired by jazz or books that reflect the aesthetic climate of the musician of this genre. The presentation of the books is accompanied by live music from jazz groups and singers.

The books to be presented are 'Who Still Listens to Jazz;» (Cedar) of John N. Bascozu (1 March). It is presented by the author himself and the band Swing Shoes plays with the participation of the singer Irini Dimopoulou. The second book to be presented (8 Of March) it is probably the best text that talks about jazzmen who wrote history, that of Geoff Dyer “And yet, nicely…» (Papyrus). Presented by Thanasis Minas and performed by the band Human Touch. The third book to be presented (15 Of March) is the "Marseille Trilogy" Jean – Claude Izzo (City), which reflects the jazz atmosphere of the detective book. Presented by Giorgos – Ikaros Babasakis and the band John Floros plays- Music soup. The month will close with the presentation (22 Of March) of Jack Kerouac's book Peak (Attempt), indicative of the love the beats had for jazz. Presented by Thanasis Minas and G. Micky Pantelus plays Basque.

Lester Young, Thelonious Monk, Bud Powell, Ben Webster, Charles Minkus, Art Pepper, Duke Ellington, Dizzy Gillespie…: the author creates portraits of creators who sealed the evolution of jazz with their music. The verb "philosophize" is used literally; Dyer does not merely list biographical facts, nor does he develop with the language of a music critic some theoretical opinions about their work, but resorts to fiction and poetic language to be able to recreate the experiential space in which their music was born. Accepting that the standard criticism, as a mediator between the creator and the listener, it usually functions as a simple substitute that fails to bring out the essence, the soul of the project, Dyer talks about jazz in the maker's way, combining criticism and fiction.

Dyer "writes" like a jazz musician: the raw material he used are sayings of musicians, information about their lives from various sources, but also photos of musicians on stage. These are his "constants"., which, however, function as a starting point for a creative improvisation which leads him to the field of fiction, in the same way that a jazz musician relies on the "constants" of his musical tradition to improvise. The way in which he utilizes the photographic material is revealing: “even though it only captures a fraction of a second, the experienced duration of the image is extended several seconds before and after this still moment to include […] The,what just happened or what,what is going to happen…Dyer therefore transforms images, sounds and information in speech art to help the reader - who at times feels like he is becoming a listener, that "reads sounds"- to hear the soul of Lester Young, of Thelonious Monk or Bud Powell, to "hear" the soul of jazz.

Jack Kerouac seems to recall the romanticism of the old American tradition, and to deliver his last literary child to her: a new kind of Huckleberry Finn, which constitutes an already completed, finished snapshot of american quest.

The central character of the narrative is an integral part of the American zero or otherwise the futile attempt to escape from the nightmare of Barba-Sam.

It is not difficult to see the similarities with the life course of Jack Kerouac himself . The constants of the outcast, of the street, of jazz and the cult of the American landscape remain.

The winners of the 84th Academy Awards!

"The Artist" by French director Michel Azanavicius dominated this year's Oscars, winning five awards in the main categories, while the movie "Hugo", which had the most nominations, won the same number of awards.

Martin Scorsese's childhood adventure took the awards for Art Direction, the Photography, the Best Special Effects, the Best Sound, and the Best Sound Effects.
"Hugo" had the most nominations, 11 in the number, however "The Artist", with 10 nomination, an ode to the silent film era, dominated, as expected, in the most important categories.

Meryl Streep won the Oscar for Best Actress for her performance in 'The Iron Lady' (The Iron Lady), in which she plays former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.
The same film took, also, the award for Best Makeup by Mark Coulier and J. Roy Hiland.
It is Streep's third Golden Globe and first since 30 years, although he has the record with 17 nominations for the most coveted award in the film industry.

Octavia Spencer won Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of the sassy housekeeper in The Maids (The Help), depicting stories of black African-American women who worked for wealthy white families in Mississippi during the early civil rights era.

The 39-year-old American actress, which was considered the favorite, she has never been nominated for an Oscar before.

Christopher Plummer was awarded the Best Supporting Actor award for his performance in the movie "The Rookies" (Beginners) directed by Mike Mills, where he plays an old man, who reveals and accepts his homosexuality.
So, the 82-year-old Canadian Plummer, veteran film and theater actor, became the oldest actor ever to receive an Academy Award. He was nominated only once before.

The movie "A Separation" (A Separation) written and directed by the Iranian Asghar Farhadi won the award for Best Foreign Language Film. It is the first Iranian film to receive an American Academy Award.
The film deals with the divorce of a couple and touches on traditions, male-female relations and the functioning of justice in modern Iran.
He was considered a favorite in the category, after winning several awards in Europe and the United States and is the second Iranian film to be nominated for this American Academy Award and the first to win.

The director Farhadi, receiving the award, stated that "at the moment many Iranians around the world are watching us and I imagine they will be very happy".

Woody Allen wins Best Original Screenplay for 'Midnight in Paris' (Midnight in Paris), while the award for Best Adapted Screenplay was shared by Alexander Payne, Nat Faxon and Jim Rush for The Descendants (The Descendants).

The award for Best Editing went to Angus Wall and Kirk Baxter for The Girl with the Tattoo (The girl with the dragon tattoo) directed by David Fincher and the award for Best Original Song went to Brett McKenzie for “Man or Muppet” (in the movie The Muppets).

“Rango” took home the award for Best Animated Feature, while in the movie "Undefeated", directed by Daniel Lindsey and T. J. Martin, was awarded the prize for Best Documentary.

In the less prominent categories, the award for Best Documentary Short went to "Saving Face" by Emmy-winning Pakistani journalist Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoi and American Daniel Jang, a film about the female victims of acid attacks in Pakistan.

The award for Best Animated Short Film “The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore”, directed by William Joyce and Brandon Oldenberg, while the award for Best Short Film went to the film “The Shore”, written and directed by Terry George.

The 84th Academy Awards of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, hosted by veteran American comedian Billy Crystal, was televised live on over 200 Countries.

"I have a great idea of ​​myself as an artist"

Alexis Kougias : What is his rumored new partner?;

The spaces are sufficient for the transport needs of four passengers without making concessions, while the versatile character is expressed through the possibility of the uneven rear seat being slid along the longitudinal axis as well as the inclination of its backrest being adjusted. At the same time, the luggage compartment of the 220 liters amounts to 315 liters by moving the seat and at 645 liters with its removal.

Resale value
The resale value of the model is at good levels, which is mainly due to the reliability of Mitsubishi.
