Lakis Gavalas: Life in prison: What he revealed to Theodorakis

Lakis Gavalas gave Stavros Theodorakis an in-depth interview on behalf of the newspaper "TA NEA".

The famous fashion businessman revealed about his life in prison: "In the beginning I was in a cell with a Golden Dawn fan, who was acquitted after 18 months for an alleged murder he had committed. Lakis Gavalas did not hesitate to admit that in prison there are drugs everywhere for those who need them: "Everywhere you look today, the tide of protectionist sentiment is flowing “cut”. And I have told you that I am a taxpayer, I am not a tax evader, and you have to remember that. […] They throw them away’ outside, they introduce them; I do not even know where they find them and I have not gone into detail why, Thank God, I have never smoked hashish in my life ".

Commenting on food inside the prison, Lakis Gavalas also makes his own humorous comments: "It also has lentils and carrots with boiled potatoes. You also buy cream from the prison canteen ".

For his daily life in prison, Lakis Gavalas said: "At eight o'clock the cells are closed. I do not see the time to go eight. Now with the garden I really get away with it. Elsewhere, Lakis Gavalas commented: "Looked, for thirty years I behaved like a passionate Greek. I met the biggest entrepreneurs in America, France, Italy. LAKIS GAVALAS: Birthday in Korydallos prison

This year's birthday of the famous designer and businessman is not reminiscent of the old days with the frantic parties in Mykonos.

Lakis Gavalas who has his birthday today, will spend them in Korydallos prison where he is being held.

According to an article in the Espresso newspaper, Lakis Gavalas is closed to himself and receives few visits from his very close friends who have nothing to do with the show biz space.

Until last year, the designer spent his birthday at his villa in Ftelia, Mykonos, where all the people of show biz passed by and they partyed until the next morning.

Lakis Gavalas : He was arrested for the fourth time!

Lakis Gavalas was arrested at noon on Wednesday for the fourth time in five months. The well-known businessman and his sister, Note, who was also arrested, were taken to the Prosecutor of the Athens Court of First Instance, accused of inaccurate tax returns (VAT) to the State. Their total debts are said to exceed 2,2 millions of euros.

Lakis Gavalas was initially arrested in the early hours of December 3rd 2011,  however he was released after a few hours. At 26 January 2012 arrested a second time and, the next, a few minutes after his departure from the Autophorous Three-Member Criminal Court, where his request for adjournment of his trial was granted and he was released, was arrested again! After all, was taken to prison, where he remained for 15 about days, before being released on 16 February.

  Watching once again the ups and downs of Lakis Gavalas in the detention centers for debts to the State, I thought that this operetta does not concern me at all. I am strongly opposed to the public humiliation of anyone, whatever his crime. And I do not appreciate a state that uses the expulsion of people, surnames or not, in order to prove that he is doing his job properly. Which in this case, let us not laugh, does not do it. He would do it if there were not hundreds (and thousands) Gavalades. He would do it, even at the last minute, if he managed to snatch them (huge) amounts owed, and let us never learn their names. In conclusion, I do not want to know who owes, I want no one to owe, especially when I'm called, that I never owed, to pay his debts. There is something else that worries me: This is how the celebrities went to the facilities of Evelpidon, with Burberry (or whatever,what else) their scarves to cover the handcuffs on their hands, I consider that, in addition to inhuman and degrading, they are also dangerous. Because they target people in these times when most people's minds are… on the railings, that our jungle wildlife is hungrier than ever. Targeting can have dramatic effects: Who tells me that someone misunderstood will not approach the respective debtor to force him to pay (not necessarily by paying money) for his "pities"; That is why I insist: Let us never know their names, but let the state finally take care of them and get rid of their pending issues.
However, as much as I try to do it above, I do not hold… I can not go into more detail in the case of Lakis Gavalas, of an eccentric person, as they have characterized him, of a cosmic clown, I would say. This gentleman has always been, in my estimation, a case indulgently comically tragic, which he confirmed with the latter (awful aesthetics) his appearances on the TV show "Fab 5". And such was his self-humiliation all these years, that the recent (third in a row) his arrest, a fact that stigmatizes the life and reputation of any normal person, it looked like another indifferent episode of a pointless soap opera. I did not feel sorry for him either, nor was I shocked, nor did I shout "well done for exposing him!», nor anything. Everyone is responsible for their actions and pays for their consequences. Where I became furious, Nevertheless, it was when I was again confronted with his indescribable audacity. Even now, surrounded by police officers led to the straitjacket of the man who treasured at the expense of the state, at our expense, made him cute. He spoke in Nazi about "those who love me". He refused to acknowledge his responsibilities, saying that "Lakis Gavalas SA" has the problem and "not the face of Lakis Gavalas", as if his company was run by aliens, who, after they did everything,what did they do, they have left for their planet and we will never see them again.

As I wonder with those who still find Gavalas funny. And what do they say, referring to the Voskopoulos and the Gavalades of this country, "Their magic". Without realizing that (and) This kind of magic brought us here. At the same time I am waiting, at last, by the rulers to do their job properly, what they have ordered us: to make them pay (Voskopoulos, I read, is in… have a safe trip). And not to permanently punish those who did less or not at all and are now called upon to pull the snake out of the hole, at the moment the Lakides, wearing their very expensive snake skin shoes, they still dance claps around their Mykonian pool.

Lakis Gavalas "passes" from prison to prison

Lakis Gavalas, a temporarily detained businessman, is being transferred to the judicial prisons of Malandrino, despite the settlement of his debts to the State and despite the persistent efforts of his lawyers, to remain free.

Anyway, in case his request for removal or replacement of the temporary detention with restrictive conditions is accepted, this is not going to be done before they are completed 30-60 days.

It should be recalled that Mr.. Lakis Gavalas, owed in total 7,5 millions of euros, arrested for the third time under the procedure of the truck for the amount of 150.000 euro, and is the only one of them 155 arrested led to a cell.

Following the letters of the directors of the prisons of Korydallos and Chalkidos, that is, prisons do not hold other prisoners, except on… bathrooms, Mr.. Gavalas was to be taken to the prisons of Amfissa, which was not possible and for’ this is eventually transferred to the prisons of Orini Fokida.

Lakis Gavalas : He was arrested again

Lakis Gavalas is being detained once again by the police, as he was arrested again on Thursday afternoon in Athens. He is expected to be taken to the prosecutor soon.
The charges against him are similar to those of his previous arrest, and relate to debts to the government. Reports state that the amount owed by the 60-year-old businessman amounts to 7.597.233,96 euro.
