THE Alkinoos Ioannidis  welcomes us to the Vrachon Theater - Melina Merkouri, in the framework of the "Festival in the Shadow of the Rocks 2012"
where on 26 June will give his big summer date with the Athenian public.

In the wake of his very successful performances at the "THEATER" of the "Hellenic World" Cultural Center and after his winter tour that took him around Greece and abroad, Alcinoos Ioannidis starts his summer tour.

In the company of four leading musicians and having in his suitcase the recent release of the double live CD entitled "Glass World" and the collection "Sygkomidi", containing all of his personal disks from the 1997 up to the present day, presents a new, satisfying and as always neat program.

The concert will include songs from his personal discography and selections from songs by other creators, several of which will be heard for the first time, while the 'fresh' performance of the songs, played by this special band, it will give a special feeling.

The HORSEMEN of Aristophanes, the hilarious and topical comedy will be presented this summer directed by Stamatis Fassoulis...
at 20 & 21 July at the Ancient Theater of Epidaurus and on a big tour throughout Greece.

The hilarious, particularly political, but also a dramatically topical comedy by Aristophanes, "HORSE", is this year's summer production of the State Theater of Northern Greece, which presents in co-production with the Acropolis Theatre.

The project is being translated and directed by Stamatis Fasoulis and with Petros Filippidis (Butler) and Yiannis Zouganelis (Paphlagonas) in the leading roles.

"Horsemen" is the first of his works that Aristophanes signs with his name. It is a quintessentially political comedy taught the 424 B.C. in Lenaia, winning first prize. The work is highly critical of the leader of the Democratic Cleons, role played by Aristophanes himself, as no one else dared.

The Horsemen describe the struggle for power between Paphlagona and Allantopolis, parodying the way politics is practiced in order to gain the favor of the citizens. Decisive role in who will prevail in this conflict, the dance of the Knights is playing.

As Paphlagonas confronts Allantopolis, comedy embellishes and mocks the demagoguery of politicians and the viciousness of power, populism and rusfetology, the small party interests but also the naivety that often distinguishes public opinion.  It is probably the most militant satire of Aristophanes, which although refers to persons and situations of the Peloponnesian war, it is completely related to today and the grim reality that our country is experiencing, but through the unique comic look of our great poet.

Two exceptional artists, Petros Filippidis Allantopolis and Yiannis Zouganelis Paflagonas meet for the first time at the Polycleitos Theater. They star with them: Takis Papamattheiou Doulos I(Demosthenes), Pygmalion Dadakaridis Doulos II (Nikias), Giorgos Kavkas Municipality.

A few words about the show

A great musical theater production, VAT to ATTIC, father of all modern Greek troubadours.
A 20-member troupe of elite actors, singers, musicians and dancers "looking for ATTIC", the style and ethos of an entire era, through memories and senses, texts and songs that sealed our sensibility.

A throwback without a "retro" mood, but with a lot of humor, sarcasm, tenderness and emotion. At the heart of it is a hearty selection of the most beloved songs of Atticus and other leading composers of the time.

The show follows the "life saga" of Cleon Triantaphyllos-Atticus (1885-1944) and his generation. It starts from Alexandria and his Athens 1900, with the walks in Zappeion, the carols and musical evenings at the mansion of the Triantaphyllos family. It takes place in Belle Epoque Paris, with the famous Mistenge pacing at the Follies Bergères and the young Cleon at the Conservatory, musical theaters and cabarets to begin his career as "Attic" – songwriter. We follow him on his adventurous tours around the world, from America to the Russia of the Bolshevik revolution!

To end up in the Athens of the Interwar period, with "variety shows" and the famous "Mantra"! "Mantra" was Attic's temple of art and functioned for a whole decade (1930-1940), combining in a unique way elements from the Parisian boutique, the Athenian inspection, it's boring, the tavern and the music-philology gallery! It was the nursery of many great artists, as well as some of the most important lyricists and entertainers.

The Theater Route presents for the summer season 2012 in all the major festivals of Greece the musical theater work of Petros Zoulias "GREECE NEVER DIES!.…», directed by Petros Zoulias, starring Pavlos Haikali, Renia Louizidou, Dimitris Mavropoulos, Joyce Eveidi and Ersi Malikenzou, who embody the central characters.

"GREECE NEVER DIES!….» is a modular project that presents, in a retrospective manner the history of modern Greece from the foundation of the Greek state to the present day, within two hours. The background of Greek history, just as it takes place behind the scenes of a show, is the main axis of the project.

The play stars the extra actors who play the Greek people. So, during the project, we never see the true protagonists of the story. On the contrary, we watch all these everyday people who believed, they fought, they split up, were identified, they lived and died for the great Greek leaders, τα οράματα και την πολύπαθη πατρίδα.

Το γέλιο εναλλάσσεται με τη συγκίνηση, το τραγούδι με την πρόζα, το χθες με το σήμερα, οι ήρωες με τους αντιήρωες, οι πρωταγωνιστές με τους ανώνυμους κομπάρσους-θιασώτες των ιδεών. Το παρασκήνιο διαδέχεται το προσκήνιο της ιστορίας σε ένα σκηνικό ακροβατικό παιχνίδι, που στοχεύει στην εθνική αυτογνωσία, στη συνείδηση, αλλά και στον πατριωτικό αυτοσαρκασμό, γιατί «για να πάει κανείς μπροστά, πρέπει να κοιτάει και λίγο πίσω».

Η παράσταση διατρέχει την ιστορία του ελληνικού τραγουδιού απ’ το δημοτικό ως το σύγχρονο.
