Audi Concept bike

H Audi is a company for which several two-wheeled prototypes have been presented from time to time. Last in the series is the creation of the French brothers Devauze.
The possibility that the German company will present its own motorcycle seems greater than ever, now that Ducati belongs to the VW group and has come under the control of the Audi Group and specifically Lamborghini.

The prototype you see in the photos is the creation of Frenchmen Thibault and Marc Devauze. It strongly resembles an electric motorcycle, it's called Etron, which also refers to it but according to the Autoevolution website, where the news of its motion comes from uses a Ducati twin-cylinder engine capacity 850 κ.εκ. Beyond the full coverage offered by plastics (another element that refers to electric motorcycles) the front suspension is also impressive, which is of the Hussar type.

We don't know if Audi is seriously considering introducing a motorcycle in the near future, however thanks to Ducati he now has the required know-how to proceed with this move facing few technical challenges.

Best year in Ducati history 2011

A golden "medal" on Gabriele Del Torchi's lapel, its CEO Ducati– it was the 2011. Because now that the financial year of last year has closed, the numbers showed it was the best for the Italian company.

And of course they contributed significantly to the choice of Audi (of the VW family) to invest for its purchase. These financial results did not happen, but they were the product of long-term planning. Who transformed the Bologna company from a single grower (built mostly sports bikes) to multi-talented multi-cultivator-creator.

The transformation started with the Ducati Hypermotard, continued with the Multistrada 1200 and peaked last year with the Diavel. And this year the Italians returned triumphantly to their roots, introducing her 1199 Panigale.

The success of these models turned Ducati's fortunes around and led to an uncertain future, now she looks forward to tomorrow with the confidence that her excellent financial situation gives her. One that caught the eye of the Germans at Audi.

But let's take a look at some of the numbers that contributed to last year's factory run from Borgo Panigale.

-In May 2012 sales increased 12% compared to May 2011.

-In May 2012 revenue increased by 20%.

-In May alone, more than 6.500 motorcycles, absolute record sales for the given month.

-Ducati had revenue 305 million euros 2006 and income 480 million. euro it 2011.

-But more important, the EBITDA(gross earnings before interest is deducted, taxes and depreciation) increased from the 27 million. euro it 2006, στα 94 million. euro it 2011.

-The company had 1.043 workers it 2006 and 1.193 the 2011.

-Ducati sold 35.300 motorcycles it 2006 and 42.200 the 2011.

-The company's share of the US market increased in May by 48%.

-The company's sales in Asia last month increased by 238% .

-The company's share of the total market pie doubled from 2006.

Audi is interested in Ducati;!

Rumors of a very big "wedding" are spreading abroad, that of Audi and Ducati. If they are verified then we are dealing with a very interesting deal.
In the context of business actions planned by the Piech family and on behalf of Audi, it seems that the strong interest of the German brand to even proceed with the acquisition of the control of Ducati's share capital is now added. The famous motorcycle company is doing quite well in terms of sales globally but its owner, the company Performance Motorcycles Spa seems to intend to sell it. In each case, potential "suitors" for Ducati are not only Audi, but both Mercedes-Benz and the Indian brand Mahindra are said to have expressed a discreet interest & Mahindra.

Nicky Hayden injured

The American Ducati rider, who rode a motorcycle for the first time after his injury in the last race of Valencia, he was injured again and broke his left shoulder and two ribs.

Hayden's motorcycle, who had begun training in his hometown at a private flat track in Kentucky, collided with another motorcycle.

The 30-year-old rider stated: "Of course injuries are never a good thing. But it's part of motorcycle racing. As in Valencia it was a terrible accident. I was starting to prepare again, as I do in the winter, at a private track near my house. I was behind another rider and he tried to get away from me. I wasn't going very fast but it hit my front wheel and I fell, I landed badly on my left shoulder and that was enough".

According to Ducati there are no plans for surgery at this time, but the situation with his champion's shoulder 2006 will be re-evaluated next week.

More generally the next few weeks are crucial for whether Hayden will take part in his first winter tests 2012 at 31 January in Sepang.

End, Hayden stated: "It's disappointing, but there is nothing I can do but hope to get better quickly. Be that as it may, this does not affect my expectations for the 2012, which is now very close".

A specially designed Ducati different from the others

A proposal far out of the ordinary is made by the improver Nicola Martini, creating the pictured 1098R Flash Back, with the result being at least interesting.
Many may call it blasphemous or argue that its appearance is not in keeping with what we have come to call a Ducati, however, the creator sought to escape from the ordinary and presented his creation, wishing to stir the waters.

The Ducati 1098R Flash Back stands out for its "hard" design, dominated by quirky side fairings. Unlike the "loaded" front, the back can be described as the epitome of minimal, since it consists of the subframe, a taillight and exhaust tips, giving the image of the naked!

Most of the improvements are not related to the mechanical and peripheral parts of the motorcycle. Martini equipped his creation with carbon side guards – the BST wheels are also made of carbon – while for the exhaust system spare parts from Zard were used, the Ducati factory final and hand made parts. The saddle, end, one of the most impressive parts of the motorcycle, it was made by hand, with Connoly leather from an MG sports car from 1959!
