Η VW, the brand that loves the practicality and ease of use of all systems, he also thought of the stressed driver trying to get home after a long day.

Revelation of the new VW Golf

In a special ceremony VW presented the seventh generation of the popular, small and medium model. The new Golf is 100 kilos lighter and against 23% more economical in consumption, in relation to the outgoing one, his sixth generation!
"Six generations of Golf, from 1974 up to 2012. This represents 38 years of continuous success for the global best seller, with sales 29,13 from. cars". These were the words of Martin Winterkorn, CEO of Volkswagen AG who, after he wove the eulogy of the first six generations, stated that the seventh will continue in the same footsteps of success.

The new Golf will be based on the new, VW Group's modular MQB platform, which offers increased levels of safety and rigidity, while helping to reduce the overall weight of the car by 100 kilos. This, although the external dimensions of the car have increased. Specifically, its length is greater by 56 mm., στα 4,25 meters and the width of 13 mm. (1,79 meters). Its wheelbase is also increased, against 59 mm.

All versions are equipped with a start/stop system and other elements that help save fuel. THE 1,6 diesel of 105 horses, for example consumes barely 2,8 liter/ 100 km. and emits 99 gr. CO2/km. As for the Golf BlueMotion version, sets new standards, with consumption 3,2 liter/ 100 km. and CO2 emissions 85 g/km!

The picture is completed by one 1,2 TSI, entry 85 horses, a 1,4 TSI, 140 horses, with a cylinder deactivation system for greater economy and a two-liter diesel 150 horses, with barely consumed 4,1 liter/ 100 km. More will be added later, stronger versions. Rumors, no, they want the flagship Golf to be equipped with a turbo engine 2,0 liters and 300 horses!

Regarding security systems, for the first time we see the Multi Collision Brake System, which intervenes on the brakes after a collision to reduce the car's kinetic energy, avoiding the possibility of a second collision. Alongside, the Golf will be equipped with the PreCrash system that will intervene in seat belts, windows and other parts of the car, thus "preparing" safety systems and occupants before any upcoming collision. The list also includes Adaptive Cruise Control, the Front Assist system, which interferes with the brakes, mobilizing the car even from gears 150 km / h, if the driver is slow to react, City Emergency Braking, for speeds up to 30 km/h and Park Assist, that detects gaps and parks the car even in spaces that are barely there 80 centimeters longer than its total length.

Going inside, the new color touch screen catches the eye, of 5,8 inches, which will be offered as standard in several European countries, with an even larger screen optional 8 inches. Another change has to do with removing the conventional parking brake and replacing it with a new one, electric. In o,what does it have to do with internal dimensions, rear passengers now have 15 mm. more space for their legs, while the forwards enjoy 31 extra millimeters of "air" for their backs and 22 mm. at the height of the elbows.

In September the premiere for the new VW Golf!

According to all indications, at the Paris International Motor Show next September, VW is expected to officially present the seventh consecutive generation of the popular Golf.

Undoubtedly, the Golf is a model that marked the modern history of the automotive industry, recording excellent sales figures all over Europe. The 2012 is another very important milestone in its many years of history (SS.: we remind you that the first generation model was presented in 1974), as its seventh consecutive generation will be officially presented at the upcoming Paris Motor Show. But what's different?, in relation to the sixth, it is expected to bring with it the new Golf;

By design, despite the fact that the German small-medium hatch is expected to retain close ties to the past, its overall silhouette is expected to be more sporty and dynamic in character, thanks to its specific characteristics, which have already been curated by VW stylists led by Walter de Silva, as is the stronger inclination of the windshield, the narrowest mask, the smaller-sized LED technology lighting bodies at the front and the more curved configuration of the roof. From now on, inside the Mk7 VW Golf the changes are expected to be equally extensive, with the cabin having a driver-centric approach, the dashboard new aesthetics, but even better, in quality and touch, materials. Structurally, the new VW Golf will "step", as well as the new Audi A3 sibling, which will make its official debut in March at the Geneva Motor Show, on the new flexible and… versatile in terms of the dimensions of the platform of the German group (see MQB, i.e. Modularer Querbaukasten in German and Modular Transverse Matrix in English). It is worth taking the opportunity to note that it is expected to "build" more than 3 million cars within the VW group and by extension many of the upcoming new Audi models (new A3 and TT), Skoda (new Octavia) and Seat (new Leon).

In the field of mechanical parts, VW executives are expected to follow the beaten track by placing under the hood of the car the well-known petrol and diesel engines of the TSI and TDI families, which will have a capacity of 1,2 until 2,0 liters and power up to 300 horsepower. It is also very likely that we will see 3-cylinder units under the hood of the new Golf (with turbo of course), while certainly in the near future it is expected, beyond the GTi version, and a plug-in hybrid. The familiar DSG gearboxes, either with 6 either with 7 relationships, they are considered out-of-the-box options anymore, combined with the well-known manual 6-speed gearbox of the group.

According to the information so far, the new Skoda Octavia is expected to be presented for the first time in the French capital, while in the current year - for now though, unknown when- the new Seat Leon is also expected.
