The Melas-Papadopoulos gallery opens with an exhibition by G. Sagri

The first official exhibition of the new Melas-Papadopoulou gallery is the presentation of the artist Georgia Sagri, who many remember from her performance some years ago outside the Polytechnic, which had also occupied the Greek news.

Sagri began by recycling and translating visual practices of female artists of the 70s and 80s, (like Mona Hatoum, Marina Abramovic and Orlan) and in the years that followed he continued experimenting on the platform of performance but also trying other media. Lately it seems that she has found her own personal identity that has matured her work and made it interesting. THE “migration” her time in America has done her good and now a path is emerging that is probably worth watching carefully.
For her first exhibition at the Andreas Melas gallery & Helena Papadopoulos, Georgia Sagri presents a flexible composition of Courtyards where plants grow, plastic and ceramic objects appear, actions are outlined and reproduced by the artist in the performance that will take place in the gallery, for three consecutive nights.

A double no or a double yes, a strategy for re-appropriation. The Yards, variable wooden boxes with aromatic plants, scattered sculptures and attached benches, refer to a closed place, in a scene where actor and spectator are subject to already formed narrative structures.
However, the Sagri, in an attempt to circumvent the tragic decline of social and political imaginaries, offers the fact of the love of the French philosopher Alain Badiou – love as a material and practical embodiment of miracle-making – as a potential site for the production of truth. The Yards exhibition includes an installation, show/loop, a PowerPoint presentation, a series of drawings/collages and a collection of texts by the artist. Georgia Sagri was born in Athens in 1979. He lives and works in New York.

The Patras Carnival begins

Opening ceremony on Saturday
Patrines are donning their festive gear and preparing events for the patrine carnival with the opening ceremony scheduled for Saturday.

Young and old will take part in an outdoor celebration, which is expected to pleasantly upset the city center. Music, dance, original happenings, street performers and a host of surprises will unfold through inventive acts generously spreading fun, vitality and joy.

The events will start from 11 in the morning and will last all day, converting the pedestrian streets, the streets, the square of Georgiou and the city hall in the field of carnival action.

From early on Saturday the auctioneer, accompanied by carnival performers, the municipal band and the bandina, they will play familiar carnival motifs and convey the message of joy and fun

From the 11:00-14:00  the children's Carnival Town on the pedestrian street of Riga Feraios will invite Lilliputians and not only to a festive date, envisioning the children's carnival.

At the same time, various events will be held on the pedestrian streets of the center and in Georgiou Square, associations, groups, schools, crews, while the free entries of crews of the "hidden treasure" are expected to give their own color, groups and carnivalists, who will flood the center with their spontaneous carnival appearances.

At 1.30 at noon the telalist with his carnival entourage will arrive at the town hall and hand over the paternal carnival banner to the mayor of Patreon, Yiannis Dimaras 2012, which will remain at the town hall until the end of the events, at 26 February.

At 2 at noon the mayor of Patreon will announce the official opening of the patreon carnival in Georgiou Square, where King Carnavalos will make his impressive appearance.

A concert by the band "The Burger Project" will follow, while until the evening there will be a music program in Georgiou Square. The celebration will conclude with Samata of the "Outraged Carnivalists"’ in collaboration with the dance department of the municipality's cultural organization.

From their side, the "hidden treasure" crews will have their own parade, which will start on 7 on Saturday night from Olgas square. The parade will end at Georgiou Square, where the carnivalists will present events, promising many surprises.

"In an environment of insecurity, uncertainty and anxiety, we attempt through the carnival to light up the dark landscape as much as possible, to create oases of entertainment and fun for our fellow citizens, to keep the great institution of the city at its height" said the mayor Yiannis Dimaras.

Dorothea Merkouris : He will collaborate with Jean Paul Gaultier;

A cooperation proposal was accepted byDorothea Merkouris by the famous French designer according to a report from the newspaper "Espresso".
The Greek actress and Jean Paul Gaultier met at a charity gala in Paris a few days ago. The last one, according to newspaper information, he was fascinated by the appearance and personality of the well-known actress and proposed her to be one of his models in a fashion show that will take place in the coming months and will be about his winter collection. Dorothea Merkouri, who was in Paris with her sister, Alexandra, she immediately accepted his proposal and their deal was sealed by shaking hands.

Stavros Zalmas : "My life is in danger"

Most people have experienced an unfortunate moment that almost cost them their own life.

The actor Stavros Zalmas also had one. "I had a big accident because of which my life was in danger" he confesses to a newspaper.

The actor spoke about an incident that scarred him.

Junior Master Chef : What we will see in the last Master Class

The eight Lilliputian cooks who continue on Mega's "Junior Master Chef" meet tomorrow, Wednesday 18 January, Maria Bekatorou, Dimitris Skarmoutsos, Panagiotis Loukakos and Lefteris Lazarou in the bay of Vouliagmeni.
There, a demanding team test awaits them as they will be divided into two groups and will have to prepare three dishes: a salad, a main meal (fish) and a sweet. However, the dishes they will prepare will be evaluated by three experienced chefs, Vangelis Driskas, Yiannis Baxevanis and Alexandros Papandreou.
In the episode that will be broadcast the day after tomorrow, Thursday 19 January the little cooks will attend the last Master Class as they soon enter the final stretch for the grand finale.
On Thursday's episode, as always, there will be a double withdrawal. Six children will continue, however only four will manage to reach the semi-final, which will happen in two weeks.

Diesel engine 1,6 for the new BMW range 1

The 125i versions, 125d and 116d EfficientDynamics BMW announced for its new model, of which the latter will not pay road tax.
The German brand expands the range of the brand new series 1, with three more editions.
The 125i uses a turbocharged engine at 2 liters with the performance at 218 horses and the 310 Nm of torque, while the model with the 6-speed manual transmission only needs 6,4 δλ. for the 0-100 h.a.o. with the top speed stopping at 245 h.a.o. The average consumption moves to 6,6 liters/100 kilometers, and emissions to 149 g/km.
The 125d uses total oil at 2 l, with performance that also touches them 218 horsepower and torque that kicks out at 450 Nm. The model accelerates to 100 h.a.o. from stop to just 6,5 δλ. while its final speed reaches the 240 h.a.o. The average consumption with the manual 6-speed gearbox is just 4,9 liters/100 kilometers, and emissions 129 g/km.
There is also the 116d EfficientDynamics version with a diesel engine at 1,6 l, and performance to 116 horses with 260 Nm of torque. The model needs 10,5 δλ. for the 0-100 h.a.o. while its final velocity is the 195 h.a.o. The EfficientDynamics package gives it a consumption of just 3,8 liters/100 kilometers, and pollutants in 99 g/km (with the 6-speed manual transmission).
End, BMW also announces an M package for the model, which includes a more aggressive body-kit, lowered body by 10 mm. sports suspension, and rims 17 or 18 inches. Inside, the seats have cloth/alcantara upholstery, leather steering wheel, aluminum details, as well as the M marks of the editions.

They are recalled 534.000 Volkswagen-Mini cars

Volkswagen and Mini have announced worldwide recalls of more than 534.000 cars.

Volkswagen is recalling 299.000 two liter TDI Golf vehicles, Jetta, Passat, Scirocco, Tiguan and T5 manufactured by 2009 up to and including 2012. The recall is due to possible cracks in the fuel injection system.

The company says the problem is noticeable with a fuel smell, while the problem may also appear in Audi cars, Seat and Skoda.

BMW, for its part, is withdrawing 235.000 Mini cars in which there is a possible problem with the electric water pump that cools the engine's turbo.

The recall concerns the 1,600hp turbo engine in the Cooper S and John Cooper Works that have been built since March 2006 until January 2011 and in the worst case the engine may catch fire. No accidents have been reported so far, related to the specific topic.
