Dance me to the end of Greece 1… Ξένοι Περιηγητές στην Ελλάδα: Παράσταση στο Μουσείο Μπενάκη

Το Μουσείο Μπενάκη παρουσιάζει στο κτήριο της οδού Πειραιώς την παράσταση “Dance me to the end of Greece 1…Ξένοι Περιηγητές στην Ελλάδα” η οποία θα διαρκέσει από τις 17/02/2012 until 18/02/2012.

Πρόκειται για την πρώτη σκηνική παρουσίαση περιηγητικών κειμένων που υπογράφουν διάσημοι ταξιδιώτες του 19ου και του 20ου αιώνα.

Οι ηθοποιοί της παράστασης συμμετέχουν σε ένα φόρουμ αφήγησης, αναπαράστασης και τραγουδιού μέσα από μελοποιημένα ποιήματα του Βύρωνα και του Σατωβριάνδου, ενώ εμψυχώνουν τις μαρτυρίες πασίγνωστων ταξιδιωτών όπως ο Χανς Κρίστιαν Άντερσεν, ο Γκυστάβ Φλωμπέρ, αλλά και οι νεώτεροι Ζακ Λακαριέρ και Χένρυ Μίλλερ.

Στο πλαίσιο της παράστασης το κοινό θα έχει την ευκαιρία να πλοηγηθεί στην πρωτότυπη εφαρμογή πολυμέσων με τίτλο ¨Η Αθήνα μέσα από τα μάτια των Περιηγητών: 17ος-19ος αιώνας”, παραγωγή του Μουσείου Μπενάκη, η οποία επιχειρεί να ανασυνθέσει το πορτραίτο της πόλης εκείνη την περίοδο, μέσα από από 500 έργα της Συλλογής Ζωγραφικών έργων, Χαρακτικών και Σχεδίων, αρκετές εικονογραφημένες εκδόσεις της Βιβλιοθήκης του Μουσείου, καθώς και επιλεγμένα κείμενα διαφόρων περιηγητών που την επισκέφθηκαν.

Θα πραγματοποιηθούν δύο παραστάσεις ειδικά για σχολεία (μεγάλες τάξεις Δημοτικού, Γυμνάσιο και Λύκειο):

Carmen Souza live at the Half Note Jazz Club

Το Half Note Jazz Club παρουσιάζει την Η σπουδαία Carmen Souza, μια αναγνωρισμένη πια παρουσία της world σκηνής, from Wednesday
15 Φεβρουαρίου και για 5 συνολικά εμφανίσεις.

Η Carmen Souza από το Πράσινο Ακρωτήρι, είναι αναντίρρητα μια ξεχωριστή μουσική παρουσία τοποθετημένη καλλιτεχνικά στο σημείο «συνάντησης» της παραδοσιακής μουσικής του Cabo Verde και της world Jazz. Μεγαλωμένη σε περιβάλλον Κρεωλών, ανακάλυψε από πολύ μικρή το «Sodade», του συναισθήματος προσμονής και νοσταλγίας για κάποιον ή κάτι που λείπει και φέρνουν μέσα τους γενιές παιδιών ναυτικών, όπως εκείνη! Ξεκίνησε μικρή να τραγουδά σε χορωδία Gospel ενώ επηρεάστηκε από μουσικούς όπως ο Luis Morais αλλά και Nina Simone ή Billie Holiday.

O κορυφαίος μπασίστας της Πορτογαλίας Theo Pas’cal, παραγωγός και μέντορας της Carmen που ανακάλυψε το πληθωρικό της ταλέντο, την ώθησε στο να ακούσει πολύ την κορυφαία τζαζ του Bill Evans, του Hancock, του Miles ή του Horace Silver κι αυτό θα παίξει ρόλο στην μουσική της πορεία. Η πρώτη της δισκογραφική δουλειά το 2005 έκανε τεράστια επίτυχία, με υλικό πολύ ενδιαφέρον σε κρεολική διάλεκτο όπου οι παραδοσιακοί ρυθμοί του Cabo Verde και τα mornas, συνδυάζονται με σύγχρονες jazz φόρμες και δίνουν μία τελείως άλλη διάσταση στην μουσική του Ακρωτηρίου. Της ίδια χρονιά αποθεούμενη από το διεθνή τύπο, θα κλιθεί στο περίφημο Φεστιβάλ Womad στην Αγγλία και μετά σ’ όλα τα Φεστιβάλ του κόσμου. Ακολούθησαν ακόμη δύο πολύ επιτυχημένοι δίσκοι, το “Verdade” και το “Protegid” που θα προταθεί και για καλύτερο άλμπουμ world μουσικής το 2010.

Η Souza είναι πια μια μεγάλη φωνή και δύναμη της world μουσικής, που έχει τεράστια απήχηση και ζήτηση σε όλες της jazz σκηνές του κόσμου και έρχεται με το κουαρτέτο της να ενθουσιάσει κι εμάς…

Made in Britain: Exhibition from the collection of the British Council 1980-2010 at the Benaki Museum

The Benaki Museumpresents the report«Made in Britain» with works from the collection of the BritishCouncil 1980-2010. The exhibition will last from15 February until 22 Apriland theinaugurationwill be held on14 February on 20.00 at night.
TheBritish Council it has one of the most comprehensive collections of contemporary British art in the world. Today in his collection it counts 8500 pieces from more than 1650 British artists.
In the exhibition co-organized byBenaki MuseumandBritish Council, μπορείτε να έρθετε σε επαφή με κάποια από τα ωραιότερα έργα της συλλογής αυτής, σε μια έκθεση που θα καλύψει τις δεκαετίες 1980-2010.
Η έκθεση περιλαμβάνει περίπου 150 works by a wide range of artists, among whomοι Keith Arnatt, Helen Chadwick, Peter Doig, Gilbert & George, Damien Hirst, Sarah Lucas, Mark Titchner, Cornelia Parkerand Mark Wallinger.
This meeting of artists so diverse illustrates the breadth and diversity of British art throughout this period. This is a unique opportunity for art lovers who wish to experience up close the creative journey of some of the most prolific contemporary British artists of the last thirty years.
Within this time period covered by the report, the role of art in British society has undergone enormous changes. From Gilbert's Intellectual Depression & George (1980) up to Gary Hume's Sister Troop (2009) the exhibition narrates how art has mapped and recorded these changes – being at the forefront of social change itself.
The last thirty years, modern art has arguably turned its attention to more social issues of British society. Αυτή η μετατόπιση του ενδιαφέροντος σε κοινωνικά ζητήματα μπορεί μερικώς να ερμηνευθεί και από την άφιξη μιας νέας, of an enterprising and ambitious generation of artists at the beginning of their decade 1990. These artists are known collectively as YBAs (Young British Artists) και σε αυτούς ανήκουν ονόματα όπως οι προαναφερθέντες Damien Hirst και Sarah Lucas, αλλά και οι Michael Landy και Jake and Dinos Chapman.
Άλλοι παράγοντες όπως η θέσπιση του Turner Prize το 1984 (το πρώτο βραβείο που καθιερώθηκε για νέους σύγχρονους καλλιτέχνες στο Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο) ή το άνοιγμα της Tate Modern το 2000, η κατάργηση του εισιτηρίου στις δημόσιες γκαλερί και μουσεία το 2001, έχουν όλα συμβάλλει στο να φέρουν τη σύγχρονη τέχνη πιο κοντά σε ένα πολύ μεγαλύτερο κοινό – και μάλιστα συχνά σε ένα κοινό το οποίο δεν έχει καμία προηγούμενη εμπειρία ή γνώση πάνω στις εικαστικές τέχνες.
Kατά τη διάρκεια της έκθεσης θα λάβουν χώρα εκπαιδευτικά προγράμματα και πολλές εκδηλώσεις που θα ξεκινήσουν από τα εγκαίνια της έκθεσης, at 14 Φεβρουαρίου με την ομιλία του Βρετανού καλλιτέχνη Mark Titchner.
THEMark Titchner, που έχει χαρακτηριστεί ως ένας από τους πιο χαρισματικούς Βρετανούς καλλιτέχνες της εποχής μας, θα έρθει στην Ελλάδα ειδικά με αφορμή την έκθεση στο Μουσείο Μπενάκη και θα μιλήσει για τη δουλειά του, την οποία ο ίδιος περιγράφει ως «έναν διάλογο στο πώς δέχεται ο καθένας σκέψεις και ιδέες».
THEMark Titchner υπήρξε υποψήφιος για το βραβείο Turner το 2006 για προσωπική του έκθεση στην οποία πραγματευόταν τις εντάσεις ανάμεσα στα διάφορα συστήματα πίστης, από τη θρησκεία και την πολιτική έως τη φιλοσοφία και την επιστήμη. Στο πλαίσιο της έκθεσης Made in Britain στο Μουσείο Μπενάκη παρουσιάζεται το έργο του The Future Demands your Participation.

A woman's voice is heard – a single woman with a child in her womb. This woman has no name, nor does it reveal her social status. Besides, it doesn't make sense. This woman could be any woman. How is she treated by those around her?. From the child's father, her parents, her employer. How can a woman feel when she wants to give birth to a child and no one else wants it. Even the child himself.
If the baby that is still in the womb and understood all that is happening, could speak, what would he say;
He would choose this to be born;
However what remains is not a position, positive or negative towards abortion but a renewed self-awareness, through which the search for the true meaning of life and existence is diffused.

Culturegraph: Mapping and combining art forms in the Hub

An original speciescultural eventspresented to multipurpose HUB (Gas pedal, Alcmenis 5) theSaturday, February 18.The first "trip" from a series of multi-thematic events called CULTUREGRAPH, a term that includes "mapping" but also the combination of the main art forms, it already has a common destination and is just getting started.
An interactive relationship between audience, artists but also of the very arts they represent is created under the organization of the polymorphic and cultural CULTUREGRAPHI event... where everyone becomes a part and experiences, at one's own will, the cultural events presented in a common space. It is sensitized, participates, he has fun and above all he is entertained…
The event of February 18 is structured as follows.
MUSICAL PART
1. Live Dj set by: MARSHEΑUX
After three very successful albums that received rave reviews from the Greek and foreign press, the highly successful Greek electro-pop "duo" is in the stage of recording and selecting the songs that will be on their fourth album. The most successful Greek electro-pop band abroad returns for a dj set after a year's absence and promises "crazy" fun and intense musical emotions.

Immediately after Marsheaux's dj set, the decks of the HUB are taken over by two of the most popular indie DJs in the city, Christos Milios and Christos Angelopoulos, in an indie-electro back to back party until the morning!
ART GALLERY (Dionysis Proios Rallatos, Elli Griva, Natassa Georgopoulou)
In a specially designed space, the works of three distinguished Greek artists are presented. The particular and personal expressionist approach of Elli Griva's works, the "magnetic interactive moments" of Dionysis Proios Rallatos (D.P.R.) and the artistic design aesthetics of Natassa Georgopoulos are combined in an effort to highlight the talent and inspiration of contemporary Greek artists.

We are in miami and specifically at the green monkey strip club!The main heroines are Aby and Irina,dancers who each for their own reasons have chosen or joined this club. Stuck in their lives and in their comfortable filth every night amid drinks and cigarettes they confess to each other in their dressing room the torturous perhaps and….their hideous truths. One seemingly ordinary night, however, Bob visits them,reporter from the local newspaper who collects data for his article based on the lives of such women. Bob representing the system, the healthy side of life and the simple everyday life through the interview process shows the girls the other side..makes them crack, to confess and the drawer containing two weapons is opened…bam…a dream intervenes…what was the end of all this?…;
If you can stand it look through the keyhole of the green monkey…..from 0 at -10….everything is allowed…
In the three roles we find Athina Karagioti(In order to) who studied at RADA has been involved in the London stage adaptation of the bug as well as numerous short films,Irina is played by Flavia Sgoifos, who comes from the drama school of Mary Vogiatzi-Tragka and participated in the successful theater performance DESTE TES as well as in popular TV series.
In the role of Bob is Nikos Christidis, who has participated in several theater and television productions. He is also the director of the show, a graduate with an acting and directing scholarship from the Empire State College of New York. The idea for this show was born and realized by the three of them on the occasion of their participation in the festival..

Wednesdays with Cinema at the Michalis Kakogiannis Foundation: Anti – Tribute to Saint Valentine

The BMIin its context general offerof to her moviegoers of Athenswith the cooperation and support of the independent distribution company of selected films New Star and Velissarios Kossyvakis, has established an informal Film Club, every Wednesday at 21:30, with free entry, in his Cinema.
On Wednesdays with IMC Cinema, they have a place and films by established and new creators are screened, films that speak a unique cinematic language with the mark of each creator evident, films that have contributed to the special image and development of that cinema that captures the different,  opens up horizons, entertains and at the same time focuses on people and situations, relationships and events of wider interest.
February 2012 Anti – Tribute to Saint Valentine
Away from pink balloons, cards with hearts and bouquets the cities continue indifferently on their course. Cities divided in two, cities wild dark and haunted like the lives of their people, who seek and experience the obsessions of love, the contact, the brief flame of human life, and in the hope of happiness they form their own moral codes. Next to the pink happy ones, sweet pictures, they also project wild images in earthy colors, in sepia and black and white that reveal the secrets, the passions,  the pursuits of people in the eternal pursuit of happiness…
In February, in the month that usually celebrates a saint of lovers, the IMC has chosen and presents films about love that are unconventional, separate, away from hagiographies, even if some of them are dominated by angels, in a instead- tribute to Saint Valentine. Because life has many aspects as well as desires.
In addition and… suddenly, music is playing!
Young people, but also already established,  notable musicians and music students occupy the foyer of the Michalis Kakogiannis Foundation and introduce themselves to the public through small concerts with various types of music. Through this cycle of events they find a platform for expression and present musical prologues for the film screenings of “Wednesdays with Cinema at IMC”,  about half an hour before the start of each screening with free entry for all.
In this context, on Wednesday 22nd and Wednesday 29 February 2012, the audience will have the opportunity to come into contact with musical works of the U. Kotzia, X. Samaras and N. Jiajiu, as well as recent compositions inspired by the film ta “Wings of love” of N. Mavraki, A. Mouzaki and G. Badass.
The works are interpreted by A. Tzigiannis (piano), A. Chaniotis (violin), N. Nikolopoulos (flute), P. Sioras (clarinet), M. Stellius (mandolin).

3rd World Magic Festival at the Badminton Theatre

The Badminton Theater presents the spectacular 3rd World Magic Festival, whose theme this year is comedy,
Is the motto of the 16th Spare Parts Bazaar 8 until 12 February 2012.
So impressive, so incredible now and of such "mathematical" precision that they reach the limits of science. But it is everything, what better does the art of modern magic have to offer and indeed from its most iconic representatives. The fact that the top six wizards and magicians in the world right now, they share the same stage for a few days - something that rarely happens- makes the 3rd International Festival of Magic a completely unique experience.
Just as unique is the way each of the "provocateurs of the real" who will occupy the stage of the Badminton Theater, will attempt to reach their limits, or even beyond them, our senses and take us to the most fascinating regions of consciousness, where you will question - and revise- what is ultimately real and what is imaginary. Ο παρουσιαστής του 3ου Διεθνούς Φεστιβάλ Μαγείας (αλλά και του 1ου!) είναι και από τους πιο περιζήτητους μάγους-κωμικούς της εποχής μας. Ο πρωτότυπος και έξυπνος συνδυασμός κωμωδίας και μαγείας που τον κάνει τόσο ξεχωριστό, έχει κάνει την ατζέντα του το πιο ακριβοθώρητο μέρος για να κλείσει ακόμα και το πιο επίδοξο θέατρο ή μιούζικ χολ κάποια από τις ημερομηνίες του. Παρόμοιο πρόβλημα χώρου αντιμετωπίζει και η βιβλιοθήκη του αφού έχει κερδίσει αναρίθμητα βραβεία για τις ικανότητές του με πιο πρόσφατα το Best Comedy Magic που του απένειμε η Παγκόσμια Ένωση Βραβείων Μαγείας και το Best Magic Review από το World Magic Awards για το ρόλο του αστέρα και παραγωγού του θρυλικού θεάματος Carnival of Wonders που παρουσιάστηκε στα Reno Hilton Hotel και Casino in Reno, in Nevada. Michael Giles

Η δεινή του ικανότητα στην τέχνη της ταχυδακτυλουργίας του χάρισε αμέτρητα εθνικά, αλλά και διεθνή βραβεία. Αν θέλετε να παρακολουθήσετε ένα υψηλών επιδράσεων θέαμα με οπτικά εφέ, μεθυστική ομορφιά, περιστέρια, παπαγάλους, papers, οπτασίες… αφήστε τον εαυτό σας ελεύθερο να ακολουθήσει το ρυθμό που επιβάλλει η μαγεία του Arkadio.
Michael Holly
Ο Michael Holly είναι εδώ και πολύ καιρό ο αγαπημένος του κοινού, τόσο στο Λας Βέγκας, όσο και στον υπόλοιπο κόσμο. Μία είναι η αιτία…είναι αστείος! Τι άλλο να ζητήσει κανείς, όταν τον καλεί στο σπίτι του…και γελά. Δράση και αντίδραση, γιν και γιαν, αυτοδικαίως και εκ των πραγμάτων. Πρέπει να πούμε κι άλλα;  Okay, θα πούμε! Με μότο την φράση του Oscar Wilde «Η ζωή είναι πολύ σημαντική για να την πάρεις στα σοβαρά», ο Michael φροντίζει να παρουσιάζει τα εκπληκτικά κόλπα του με πολύ χιούμορ και με τη συμμετοχή του κοινού. Φιλικός, ευρηματικός, ο τέλειος συνεργάτης, χρησιμοποιεί αλυσίδες, μπάλες του μπόουλινγκ, μουσικά όργανα και παρουσιάζει ένα μαγικό, αλλά και ξεκαρδιστικό πρόγραμμα.
David Kaplan
Φαντασμαγορία, music, ταχυδακτυλουργία και ανέκφραστη κωμωδία συγκρούονται στο βαριετέ του Kaplan. Εμπνευσμένος από τα αστεία των Keaton, Sellers, Victor Borge, the Smothers Brothers και του επιφανή Wile E. Coyote, including, «Ο Μεγάλος» David Kaplan καλωσορίζει τους θεατές, μεγάλους και μικρούς, σε έναν θαυμαστό, περίεργο κόσμο που δεν θα ξεχάσουν ποτέ.
Ίσως το πιο εντυπωσιακό κατόρθωμα του Kaplan είναι που βγαίνει από την παράσταση σωματικά ακέραιος. Καθώς ο κόσμος του μοιάζει να καταρρέει, αυτός καταφέρνει να δαμάσει μια αδίστακτη μπάλα του μπόουλινγκ, να ζογκλάρει με έπιπλα, να κάνει ταχυδακτυλουργικά και να παίζει μελωδίες μ’ ένα μπαλόνι, μία πλαστική αντλία και το γιουκαλέλι του παππού του, προς μεγάλη ευχαρίστηση του γοητευμένου κοινού.

Ο άνθρωπος είναι για γέλια. Ποτέ πριν, στην ανθρώπινη ιστορία, λέγοντας κάτι τέτοιο, δεν θα μπορούσε να είναι τόσο τιμητικό -και αληθινό-, όσο στην περίπτωση του Glenn Singer, του ανθρώπου που (απ)έδειξε, ότι η μαγεία, μπορεί να είναι και ξεκαρδιστική. Γνωστός και ως el Gleno Grande, ο Glenn είναι για την οπτική κωμωδία και τον ιλουζιονισμό, ότι ο Νταλί για τον σουρεαλισμό. Χρειάζεται να πούμε κάτι άλλο; A, Yes. Ότι, εδώ και πάνω από 20 years, οι παραστάσεις του ταξιδεύουν σε ολόκληρο τον κόσμο (και στις πέντε ηπείρους), σε χώρους όπως το Caesar’s Palace στο Las Vegas ή τα Universal Studios στο Χόλιγουντ, ότι διαθέτουν και στοιχεία τσιρκολάνικης παράδοσης, που απευθύνονται, εξίσου, σε όλες τις ηλικίες και ότι διακρίνεται, για τον τρόπο με τον οποίο κάνει το κοινό να συμμετέχει και να περνάει μαγικά. Αυτό δεν είναι το νόημα;
