Toyota at the Tokyo Auto Show

Toyota will present 15 models at the Tokyo Auto Show in which he participates, among which are the improved versions of the iQ, Yaris and GT 86.

The presence of the Japanese company at this exhibition, is particularly exuberant as a number of new models are expected to be presented at its stand, among which originals, improved versions etc. Among them, the GRMN iQ Supercharger Prototype stands out, which is expected to be produced in just 100 copies from the summer of this year onwards.

According to the official data released by the Japanese giant, the version in question is based on our well-known iQ of 1,33 liter, except that its engine, thanks to the addition of a compressor, it pays off 130 horsepower and torque 180 Nm, which is combined with a 6-speed gearbox with a "closed" arrangement of its relations. Besides, the car, which has been taken care of by Gazzo Racing, features cosmetic enhancements commensurate with the character, as well as suspension with tighter tuning and lower ground clearance.

Another very interesting model is the GRMN Yaris Turbo Concept, which is based on the 3-door version of the model sold in Japan under the name Vitz. This "hot" Yaris wears an engine 1,5 liter, which delivers with the help of a turbocharger 180 horses and 220 Nm of torque. The rest of the upgrades that come with it include a sportier suspension setup, the 4-piston calipers of the braking system, as well as their wheels 18 inches.

Based on her new coupe, which was officially presented just a few months ago, Toyota is bringing the GT to the Tokyo Auto Show 86 TRD. Its differences compared to the simple GT 86 concern according to the Japanese in the new suspension setting and the sportier anti-roll bars, on the wheels of 18 inches combined with Michelin tires, to the upgraded brakes, as well as a multitude of aerodynamic aids on the outer surfaces and elements inside, such as the bucket seats and the engine start button.

No mechanical changes, but with modifications in the field of aesthetics, Toyota is also presenting another special edition of its new coupe: the Toyota GT 86 from Medel, as well as the Gazoo Racing Toyota FT-86 and Gazoo Racing Lexus LFA, with which the two companies participated in the Nürburgring 24-hour endurance race in 2011.

New Dodge Dart: The American Giulietta!

Just 24 hours before its official premiere in Detroit, we reveal to you the new Dodge Dart, a "small" by the standards of the American sedan market based on the floor of the Alfa Romeo Giulietta.
To the point, this is the first product of the American Dodge to make its way to the production line and use as a basis a model of the "mother" Fiat, which, as known, now controls Chrysler's fortunes, which also includes Dodge. The new Dodge Dart is a small, for the lowlands of the opposite shore of the Atlantic, four-door family model, by the standards of the forgotten Chrysler Neon, with which the now-merged Chrysler/Fiat group hopes to increase its influence in the domestic market, where proven the… races are still on - along with the big SUVs of course- to fascinate the Americans by having a special commercial appeal. By design, simple lines are adopted, without exaggeration, extremes or sophisticated forms, just as was the case with Caliber, which effectively now hands over the baton to Dart. Beneath the metal surfaces of the car lies the familiar, but except, especially for the occasion, enlarged in its dimensions, Alfa Romeo Giulietta floor, from which it also borrows the architecture of its posts.
 For now, the official technical details of the car have not been announced, as all that has been leaked are the photos we are listing for you. Sure, given our information so far, it is a given that the new Dart will be available with three petrol engine sets, two naturally aspirated and one turbocharged. Regarding the first, these are two engines of Chrysler's Tigershark generation, with capacity 2,0 and 2,4. The latter will integrate, according to all indications, the well-known Fiat MultiAir system, while its returns are rumored to be similar 160 and 184 horses. As for the supercharged one, it's about the familiar 1,4 MultiAir by Fiat, the performance of which will probably fluctuate around them 160 horsepower. It is worth adding that the Dart will initially be equipped with two gearbox options, a 6-speed manual and also a 6-speed dual-clutch, while later it will be available with a new automatic transmission 9 relations.
 Closing, to recall that with the new Dodge Dart the Fiat group managed to acquire an additional one 5% of Chrysler's stock, as with its presentation the condition set between the Italians and the American Environmental Protection Agency was reached and it concerned the construction of a car with an average fuel consumption of around 5,9 lit./100 km.

F1: Preparation fever

Oι πρώτες δοκιμές ενόψει της νέας αγωνιστικής περιόδου απασχολούν πλέον τις ομάδες της F1, οι οποίες προετοιμάζονται εντατικά για το καλύτερο.
Στο στρατόπεδο της McLaren επιδιώκουν να καλύψουν όλες τις διαθέσιμες μέρες που έχουν για δοκιμές, προκειμένου να έχουν την κορυφαία απόδοση από τον πρώτο κιόλας αγώνα της περιόδου.
So, ανακοίνωσαν ότι θα λάβουν μέρος στις πρώτες δοκιμές της νέας χρονιάς στο αυτοκινητοδρόμιο της Χερέθ, που θα πραγματοποιηθούν από τις 7 until 9 February. Η επίσημη παρουσίαση της νέας MP4-27 ορίστηκε για την 1η Φεβρουαρίου, όμως ακόμη δεν ξέρουμε που θα διεξαχθεί η εκδήλωση.
Η Red Bull και η Ferrari έχουν προγραμματίσει να φθάσουν στη Χερέθ επίσης με το καινούργιο τους μονοθέσιο. Η Μercedes θα πάει με το νέο της μονοθέσιο στο δεύτερο τεστ, που θα γίνει στη Βαρκελώνη στο τέλος του Φεβρουαρίου.

Wagon version for the Alfa Romeo Giulietta

According to well-informed sources, Alfa Romeo plans to add a wagon version to its midsize Giulietta range, inside 2013.
The version in question, as is obvious, it will complement the range of the already acclaimed hatchback version of the Giulietta, which is currently the best-selling model of the Milanese brand, providing at the same time – as a version- an important commercial... helping hand to "mom" Fiat in an extremely important vehicle category of the European market, as is that of station wagons. We remind you that the companies that make up the Italian group (see. Fiat, Lancia and Alfa Romeo) they haven't presented a "compact" micro-medium wagon model since its inception 2008, around the time the not-so-successful Fiat Stilo Wagon was discontinued.
It is worth adding that in the extremely competitive car market of D. Europe, cars in this category represent a total of almost a quarter of sales, rate in fact that in some markets, as in those of Germany and Italy, their share amounts to 70%.
Strategically, the wagon version of the Giulietta is expected to give Alfa Romeo a small but, but important in the bad times we are going through a stimulating injection at the level of sales, while the latter is preparing for the presentation of two very important new models in the 2013: of the new Giulia, who will receive the baton from 159 and a crossover model, which will be based, as everything shows, on a Chrysler "subsidiary" floor. The Bentley Continental with a new V8 turbo engine

A new 4-litre V8 engine joins the Bentley Continental line-up, delivering the much-needed hot performance combined with significant environmental achievements.
At the Detroit Fair, British Bentley is expected to officially present a new one, V8 twinturbo engine, which completes the range of available Continental GT Coupe and GTC variants. It is worth clarifying that this 4-liter engine is placed one step lower than the 6,0 W12 of the brand, which will continue to be available at the top of the Continental GT and GTC model pyramid.
According to company executives, this engine delivers 507 horses at 6.000 rpm. and torque 660 Nm, which are available consistently from 1.750 up to 5.000 rpm. ensuring acceleration from stop to first 100 km/h in a time less than 5 δλ. and top speed of the order of 290 km / h. Το Countryman John Cooper Works θα παρουσιαστεί στην έκθεση της Γενεύης
Στη διεθνή έκθεση αυτοκινήτου της Γενεύης θα παρουσιαστεί επίσημα η έκδοση «John Cooper Works» του crossover μοντέλου της Mini.

These days, the car is running a series of winter tests in Austria. It has increased height by 10 mm. compared to the other versions of the model and is equipped with all the representative elements that characterize a "John Cooper Works" version.

Its engine will be the well-known four-cylinder 1.6 Turbo of 211 PS and 28,5 kg. of torque, with which the MINI Countryman John Cooper Works will be able to accelerate from a standstill to 100 kilometers per hour in 7,6 seconds.

The invention of the VESPA by Corradino D'Ascanio

A unique exhibition up to 31 January in Italy
Ο Corradino D’Ascanio, the great aeronautical engineering genius who invented the Vespa, is the subject of the exhibition designed and organized by the Piaggio Foundation, with the collaboration of the architect Enrico Agonigi, at the Piaggio Museum in Pontedera (www.museopiaggio.it). The exhibition will be open to the public until 31 January.
Presenting an extensive collection of his various works, original designs, documents and publications of the time, as well as some of the oldest and most representative Vespa models from the Piaggio Museum collection, the exhibition honors both D'Ascanio and the birth of a true benchmark of Italian style and industry, now famous all over the world.
Based on the creation of the first model, of the "98cc" which was created by D'Ascanio with a patent on 23 April of 1946, more than 17 millions of Vespa scooters have been produced and sold worldwide. And the success of the first and most famous scooter continues: the annual sales of Vespa the 2011 are about to reach the remarkable record of 150.000 vehicles. Fifty thousand were sold the 2003, but from the 2006 and then sold annually over 100.000 Vespa scooter, with sales figures constantly increasing.
The opening of the exhibition was attended by officials from the local government of Tuscany and Abruzzo as well as a special guest, the actor Luca Zingaretti, who embodying the role of Corradino D'Ascanio, recited to the audience a series of letters left behind by the great engineer. This documents, along with his personal belongings, were donated by the D'Ascanio family to the organizers of the exhibition at the Piaggio Museum.
The section of the exhibition dedicated to the human unit is presented through a collection curated by Maria D'Ascanio, which takes us to the natural environment where Corradino D'Ascanio worked, with original objects and furniture. Visitors can see a very large collection of photographs and various documents from throughout his life, from his childhood in Popoli, in Abruzzo, the years he lived in America until his arrival at Piaggio.
At the heart of the genius section – introduction to the exhibition catalog by Giorgetto Giugiaro – is a large collection of vehicles, patents and designs, which examine the professionalism and innovation of Corradino D'Ascanio (Peoples, 1 February 1891 – Pisa, 6 August 1981).
Exhibits examine the roots of this engineering genius that led D'Ascanio to patent the first prototype of a modern helicopter and, between the 1945 and 1946, the Vespa, laying the foundations of a story, full of successes, and one of the most important symbols of Italian industry and creativity.
Corradino D'Ascanio's creativity was not limited to mechanical engineering, but it also manifested itself in other areas as the unity of the sorcerer suggests, with catalog commentary edited by Costantino Frontalini. His thousands of ideas include the most original compositions and constructions for the trade fairs where the Vespa was presented, with effects designed to surprise like “the Vespa on a peach branch ” or “the Vespa in a jet of water”. These impressive graphics can be enjoyed at the exhibition, as created using virtual reality technology from Percro's lab, of the University of Sant'Anna, in Pisa.
The last section of the exhibition turns to the legend behind the personality of this great inventor (featured in the catalog by Donatella Puliga): next to the most important models created by D'Ascanio, a series of filmed interviews with friends is shown, colleagues and people who passed from his life, sketching a distinct figure, who lives on in the hearts of those who knew him.
Contributing artists to the exhibition are Daniel Schinasi (who drew the portrait used as a symbol of the exhibition), or Alberto Fremura (who drew the four sketches, each dedicated to one section of the exhibition), the screenwriter Mario Cristiani from Pisa, who curated the reading of the letters by Luca Zingaretti at the opening accompanied by melodies by accordionist Fabio Ceccarelli, which he composed especially for the occasion.
The exhibition will be accompanied by a special stamp collection, on Tuesday 20 December from 14.00 until 20.00 Creation "regarding the modern administration and the European ones, at the Piaggio Museum. The series is designed by Maria Cecilia Imiotti, was inspired by a famous photo by Corradino D'Ascanio, and will be archived at the Post and Telecommunications Museum in Rome.
